I hope you are safely free out of the relationship. More power to you. Gosh, if it takes 9 years for a LVM to show his true colors, should I even bother?

I'm really relieved it's back. I was worried I could never reach it anymore. I'm not involved in dating at this time but I still need this place very much in order to know how to behave around men.

Gee this is the opposite of my dad. If my dad and I are going anywhere he is often worried that people won't think he's my dad. He looks way older than me though.

Oh ok. I suppose you could be right unless the other person "won't let" you break up with him.

I'm not being sarcastic when I say this but I think this means I should not date, period. There's no professions left.

Wear makeup. (I sometimes wear a \little\** but so little that you can't tell I have any on)

My brother is like this. He's been eating frozen dinners literally every night because "he doesn't have a woman to cook for him."

Unfortunately I had to disable messaging and chat because I was getting notifications from random redditors (appeared to be from men) about things I've said here. But then I realized that it would be unfair for me to want to send someone here a DM if I disable it myself. DMs are still disabled, but I'm trying to figure out for myself what to do from here on.

Oh gosh how could I forget male nurses during this thread. Overall male nurses are a nono for me. There was a male nurse as a standby for my mom when she was in hospice who SEEMED ok but I still wish the standby had been a female nurse.

I would not go to a male OBGYN if he were literally the last doctor on earth. This wasn't an OBGYN situation but it was during a breast biopsy. There was a woman and a man there during the procedure; the man was the radiologist and the woman was a different title but I forgot what it was. During the biopsy, I felt the doctor's hands touching my back in a way that I found inappropriate but I didn't know if I should say anything. I was almost positive it was the doctor doing it and not the woman, …

Only a very rare subset of the human male population can get away with a beard IMHO. For example in the movie Planet of the Apes, I thought Charlton Heston could get away with a beard, but not your typical guy. All the types of clothes you described are precisely what I see as well. It's a nightmare in broad daylight.

You may be right. My mom had some uncles from her dad's side and they were a good looking bunch. But they were in their prime during the 1940s, which could explain what you said. Men from those days looked different, not just dress but even in their faces.

I wish I could leave the US too for that purpose; unfortunately I don't see a way to do that. You are lucky you can. What's worse is that I think I'm starting to have a type that is only found in certain parts of Europe (I might be exaggerating on that, but my imagination can be wonky).

In the past when I had a different FB account with different "friends" there were a couple women who often talked about their military spouses and the post always exploded with Likes and I'm like WTF who cares. Why is being a military spouse something to show off? I agree with the OP; I would like to add that men are not worth competing for either.

There are so many times that I've wanted to walk in a couple of particular parks that I've never been to, but I'm afraid to. I feel like the criminals are out free and the victims have to be the ones in "prison" by not going where they want to go.

I wanted a particular female pysch but everyone was full, so I got put with a male physician's assistant. So far things have been OK but I'll be on the lookout. I always wanted a female medical provider no matter what the field is, though.

I feel too anxious about these things to even have a relationship. I'm always going to be afraid of the first time he gets angry at me. I ask myself, what if his anger turns me off? I know everyone gets angry but I'm ultra sensitive and have a phobia of people yelling at me. I wish my dad didn't have such a pickme attitude when it came to me. I'm lonely for the idea of a relationship but I don't think I'd be happy in one.

And this is why I don't want to date ANY man even if HVM. I don't want to impose spirituality but one of Jesus's statements is of utmost importance for me: he who looks at another woman with lust has already committed adultery in his heart. I had an art teacher in college who claimed that he was unabashedly ok with looking at other women. He was a weirdo and talked dirty in front of the class sometimes. He said that his wife labeled his behavior typical...his tone indicated that his wife accepte…

Another thing about immigrant men...what if you have kids with them and while the kids are not yet grown he decides he wants to move back home? You're totally screwed.

I don't have experience in this, sorry, but since you brought up something - I am worried about dating immigrant guys because I don't want a man going for me just to get a green card or something, but American guys lack something to me. This is the kind of stuff that makes me not want to date at all. Yet I don't feel safe if I don't have a HVM figure in my life, even if it's not a romantic relationship. What gives? I don't know what to do.

It hasn't happened yet but I don't doubt that it could. I want to make a new account just for this place but I always thought that a new account posting here doesn't look legit until it's earned its proper flair. Maybe I'm wrong? I don't know.

Something about putting your picture up for strange men to see, waiting for a message from a strange man, and arranging a time for you and that strange man to meet is nothing short of creepy with all capital letters. I just can't muster to audacity to get involved in such a thing, and I cringe if OLD is ever suggested to me.

Sorry everyone, I realized my post was removed; maybe it was to keep women safe. I'm sorry for any problem I may have caused. Please keep adhering to the FDS handbook, as should I. I do not want any of us women hurt.

Sorry, I realized the error of my ways shortly after I made my post lol. Even if the man says yes, he can still be a terrible person when the date happens. I guess I was only thinking about the part where the woman had to reject the man and was afraid to do so.

This is ridiculous. This reminds me of something in Eastern culture where if a woman makes eye contact with a man, it's considered illicit, but I didn't realize that this was a thing in the West too. I try to train myself such that if I happen to make eye contact with a man, not to smile. I can try to purposely avoid the latter but not always the former.

Speaking of skincare, all I've been doing ever since I stopped wearing most makeup is wash my face with face wash or face scrub and put facial moisturizer on it, and my skin has been just fine. I never need to spend all this money on skincare products besides the minimum necessary. And I don't think one single darned man even knows the difference.

I have to sheepishly admit that I have been overly adulatory of some musicians/band members throughout my life, but I've matured, Thank God. But the thing is, I was only like this for about a year since becoming a fan of such person/band, and then the luster wore off and never came back. But now that I'm past 40, something changed (however I think the change started sometime in my 30s but I can't pinpoint). I think there's something about the age of 40 that changes your brain forever. I realized…

I live with my dad. My mom was here too but she passed a few months ago of dementia. But my dad is of no help because he's old and can't walk without a walker. He used to be able to take the trash out but not anymore. It's possible I can change the time I take the trash out if I commit myself to it. This was a major lesson for me. I hope this man hasn't noticed my patterns before. It looked like he saw me for the first time but I couldn't make out his face. It was too dark and he wasn't close en…

I didn't know about this. I'm glad I found out. Now I can watch out for this. I have to admit I'm an emoji junkie at times and never realized it was such a problem but maybe me being a woman makes it different?

I wasn't speaking against short women. I was speaking against short men who demand that taller women give them a chance when those men can easily find some shorter woman who would take them. I wasn't telling short women to accept short men. I myself am 5 feet 9 and feel incapable of being attracted to a man who's not at least 6 foot 2. I guess my comment was misinterpreted but it wasn't my intention for that to happen.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/07/21 10:02 AM

Short men could easily find short women. Tons of women are at most 5 feet tall, heck some 4 feet 11. Why can't those men just look for short women and be done with it?

First of all, OP does have a point. But when I was in school, there were mean girls there too, some of them to me. Mean girls do exist and some men are too stupid to realize it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/07/21 12:54 AM

Exactly. Another thing, you won't find a single man (by single I mean solitary, not marital status) who is afraid of walking alone at night somewhere, driving on a deserted road, or walking in a secluded area like a park because of being accosted by a woman. They may be afraid of being mugged or beaten or killed, but not by a woman.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/07/21 01:42 AM
43

Another thing I find odd. If a woman is trying to be physically abusive to an able-bodied man, well most men are stronger than women and there's nothing men can't do to neutralize her, so that could be another indication that the said man is barking up a tree somehow. I hope no one thinks I'm defending men. I'm actually implicating such men.

I'm completely unable to have a pelvic exam or pap while conscious. I've tried it 3 times and the pain was so indescribable each time and the lady barely went a quarter inch in. I then consented to have it done under anesthesia. As far as I know, there were not going to be men present. But when I saw the instructions for the preparation for the surgery, I couldn't handle the burden of it and canceled. Now I'm back to square one. What also boils my blood is that men are never told to accept women they aren't attracted to or to "give them a chance." Fuck giving men a chance. If I'm repelled by farts and poop from an attractive man, why would I want the same from an ugly man?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/07/21 07:24 PM

I didn't click the NSFW but I have to tell you, I haven't been able to solve that problem yet. I have so many issues about sex and ugly men, yet I don't feel it's normal for me to be single and alone. It can be an agonizing dilemma.

This is where the older-fashioned part of me comes out; I can't be complacent with this very typical behavior of men. I don't exactly know if it means I'm old-fashioned, but this is the #1 reason why I question if a relationship would make me more unhappy than being single, even though I'm unhappy single too.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/07/21 12:07 AM

I remember some of my pickme behavior from my 20s and even 30s and it's so awful that it would make even FDS cringe. I can't get over it.

This may be a bad example but if a man who is a lot older than you starts hitting on you, has anyone said "I'm into younger men"? (not meaning per se, men younger than that man, which of course would be true, but men younger than the woman saying it) (well, it depends how young the woman looks I guess)
