If you look up the ratio of male to female cab drivers, you might be pretty shocked. It's about 99% male, 1% female. It's not income inequality when most women who are perfectly qualified refuse to even consider working as a cab driver.

Opposite is true in my case. I'm saying all women tell other men that NAWALT because this in turn benefits all women as a whole. Yet the woman does it because she herself thinks she is the exeption to the rule. Constrained example: Mary tells Bob NAWALT, Stacy tells Ted NAWALT. Bob meets Stacy and thinks she is a unicorn. Ted meets Mary and thinks she is a unicorn. The thing is that there's almost no risk to lending people this money because bankruptcy is impossible. This debt stays with someone for life, eventually automatically being taken from your wages if you don't pay up willingly. Lenders are fucking laughing while they hand you this money and universities have a huge shit eating grin while accepting it.

Fundamentally, why do you not steal? Because you don't want to be stolen from. The golden rule only works if (mostly) everyone else is following it. Why do mothers tell their sons NAWALT? Because someone's else's son will hear that NAWALT and she can manipulate him for her benefit. But it only works if most women are in on it. But it's not a conscious decision. Just like you don't think about not stealing to actively protect your own property, it's more like deeply ingrained groupthink.
