Since I’m planning on moving to Finland, one of the things I do not like about Finland(at least compared to her other Nordic neighbors) is her male only conscription. I wish she would follow in the stead of her neighbors Norway and Sweden and make it apply to both genders. Finland is good in a lot of other aspects and even other aspects of equality, however this one is a fuck up(one that pisses me off) and I think it’s hardliners keeping the military like that on purpose to appear strong to Russ…

I have problems with male only conscription. I actually don’t like that a nation I plan to move to has that issue- albeit they’re very good in gender equality overall- Finland. I hope that the nation will follow her Nordic neighbors in making conscription gender equal sooner rather than later.

Something which barely amounts to anything in the grand scheme of things. Thanks thunderf00t But at least an actual gesture, which could highlight how big the problem is, such that a one off planting of 20 million trees barely amounts to much.

Depends on which protests specifically. However most had a goal beyond trying to disrupt day to day life, most where attempting to either reach a location, March to Montgomery or protest in a public space. Whist I might not agree with them blocking traffic, at least the civil rights movement had a goal when they did disrupt public life, the goal was to reach a place to protest. They were kinda excluded from using lots of public transport for that due to segregation policies and police. Which is …
