Just venting I guess. Not really asking anything. Feel free to ask or comment if you feel like.I think considering couples therapy should be an option to explore. It seems there are some issues, including parental styles, that you should try to understand before you commit to a huge change such as leaving. At the very least, if nothing does change, hopefully you can have a more civilised separation if you both decide that's what's best for everyone. I hope whatever happens works out for you. | /r/MenSupportMen | 29/01/25 09:36 AM
Tried of dating cultureI'm assuming you can find all kinds of people on apps, but as for festivals and bars, I feel that's a more specific clientele. Granted, you're still quite young, so I appreciate everyone does that 😅 At the ripe age of 30, I personally wouldn't be looking for love in a bar. But it really depends on the kind of people you're attracted to. I'd have a think about the kind of woman you believe you'd want to be in a relationship with. What kind of stuff does she do? Where might you find them? What wou… | /r/MenSupportMen | 17/12/24 08:27 PM
Tried of dating cultureI've been out of the dating sphere for a while, but I'm curious, how do you initially meet these women? | /r/MenSupportMen | 17/12/24 08:13 PM
Have you ever had a failed relationship because your girlfriend/wife pressured you to give up your hobbies? This is an interesting one. I'm not familiar with this YouTuber, but as a fellow nerd, I'd like to chime in on this I think it's cool that nerd culture is becoming more widely accepted, so I'm hoping this kind of thing happens less. I suspect the reasons that people may shame their partner from their hobbies can be: 1) They consider it to be too much, either that too much money/time/thought is dedicated to a hobby. This can be much easier to fall into for nerdy hobbies, as it can be done frequen… | /r/MenSupportMen | 13/12/24 09:55 AM
Weird double standard in society.Preferences are fine and completely normal. The issue here is that it's being called out to people and making them feel less valued, while they also hold contradictory values about their own attributes | /r/MenSupportMen | 08/12/24 06:03 PM
Weird double standard in society.I see your points and I completely get where you're coming from. As others have said, women preferring taller men is not a rule, but a trend, and one that can be ultimately overcome. As a tall guy, I've been on the positive side of this equation, so I am biased here. Double standards are something which both men and women have to battle, and while you can argue which side has it worse, it's all subjective based on what we've encountered / seen in our lives. I think the main issue I have with you… | /r/MenSupportMen | 08/12/24 06:00 PM
I [ 26M] don't want to be the nice guy no moreHey. So firstly, I don't believe that being a nice person makes you less attractive. When I read the above story, I was quite impressed by your conviction. I can't exactly figure out what it might be that is causing women to like you less, but it does seem that you're going too far with this kindness. Making sure you're not pressuring women to have sex with you is a very good thing, but it also gets in the way of the passion and fun of it all (it's just not sexy to keep asking if "it's ok?"), yo… | /r/MenSupportMen | 30/09/24 08:04 AM
Any resources for my friend's husband? As a younger woman I feel like I don't know how to helpThis seems to be a very complex but serious issue. I and likely most of the people on here may not be able to help much, so I'd highly recommend getting a professional involved to help your friend's husband. Just note that they don't have to be local to NYC, online therapy is just as useful and can hopefully be more affordable for them. A local support group could also help him. Other than trying to facilitate this, the other thing you can try is just to go over to their place and help out a lit… | /r/MenSupportMen | 24/09/24 10:54 AM
How do you get more attention in bedFirstly, I would definitely communicate this with your wife. It's a marriage, so you two should be willing to work together on your problems... Which this does count as. I'm sure this conversation would provide much more context as to what the issues could be, and if it doesn't or she's unwilling to be helpful, I think relationship therapy should be on the table. That being said, some advice I think may help is to add more spice to the bedroom. For blowjobs, I personally get a lot more enjoyment… | /r/MenSupportMen | 24/09/24 07:34 AM
Motivation and Working outI'd really recommend using an app to track your workouts. That may help give you the extra push to go / staying power when you're there. I'm sure there are loads out there, and they probably offer pre-designed workouts. But I personally get more of a kick out of researching and building my own programs. Apps are also really good for you to track tangible progress over time, especially when the "newbie gains" phase is over. The "1RM" calculation is good for this. An accountability partner is also… | /r/MenSupportMen | 20/09/24 07:11 AM
Why would I get another girlfriend? This is a great mindset to have on this. Just to add to it. You'll have to understand that you can't have control over what other people are thinking and feeling, so learning to find happiness outside of relationships is very important! Although it feels like a lot to learn to trust someone again, it should ultimately be a goal for you while you try to grow as a man. It doesn't have to be overnight, but have a deeper think about the man you eventually want to be... Would he have issues with trus… | /r/MenSupportMen | 18/09/24 07:13 AM
Relationship with Body Image and InfidelityI really appreciate your thoughts and for sharing some of your story. Thank you | /r/MenSupportMen | 14/09/24 07:04 PM
Relationship with Body Image and InfidelityThat's a very interesting thought. My initial reaction is that it doesn't feel that way to me, but I'll continue to sit with this and try and figure out if comfort plays a bigger part in my love for her. Thank you for your time and thoughts on this. | /r/MenSupportMen | 14/09/24 03:40 PM
Relationship with Body Image and InfidelityI appreciate your comments despite that not being what is asked for. I don't agree with your first two points, but I have dramatically oversimplified my description of our situation to make this easier to read. I'm sure that doesn't change much of your stance, but I just wanted to mention it. Your point #3 really stands out to me. Specifically about being supported. I'll be sure to explore this further, both myself and in therapy. Thank you | /r/MenSupportMen | 14/09/24 02:38 PM
What are your sexual needs?First off, your thoughts and attitude towards your relationships are cool to read. And I get the frustrations you're having. I think your expectations are relatively normal, although sex most days for people in their 30's does seem a little high to me. Obviously our libidos do get weaker with age, so as some people have said, you may expect it to get more difficult to achieve these goals. One thing I would be curious about, and something that you may want to explore, is your relationship with ma… | /r/MenSupportMen | 14/09/24 10:21 AM
