Did you actually read the OP? This asshole intentionally did this as late as possible. I worked in field service for five years and never once had an emergency that prevented me from communicating my plans in a timely manner. I still work in maintenance for critical manufacturing, and yes, shit happens. But I'm still always able to be respectful of others times.
