I want to provide an alternative without discouraging you from being a SAHW / SAHM without paid work. I was raised by upper middle class conservative evangelical boomers who insisted I attend college and work professionally before marriage. I'm so grateful they set me up with this mentality, which is hilariously seen as feminism to many now. I'm currently a SAHW who happens to WFH with a 6 figure job. Notice I did not say career - I work on average 4-5 hours a day and otherwise focus on homemaki…

Peloton (or another digital fitness membership that you'll actually use - you don't need the bike or tread, just the app and space to do the exercises), tretinoin, sunscreen, a once monthly at home TCA chemical peel, and heatless curls should cost less than $100 per month. If I had more money, I'd add on botox and at home microneedling.

Developing your social skills can make a world of difference, especially if you're pairing them with hobbies you're passionate about. Is the therapy actually helping? I'm asking because for me, therapy was just ruminating and I found tremendous relief from just doing things. Joining a women's-only cycling group was better for my mental health was more effective and cheaper than therapy! Are you talking about nasolabial folds or actual smile lines? You'd be amazed what a bit of botox can do for y…

I am a feminist, radfem leaning, and would happy to discuss or answer questions you might have. I am a SAHW lucky enough to have a WFH role that is part time most of the year. I think all women should be wholly informed on the reality of men, women, and marriage, and that women should have a choice in how they live their lives. 💖

He sounds great, respectful and is clearly showing you he's interested. That said, I'd be having the same thoughts if I were in your shoes. A good man won't leave you feeling confused - I'd go out with him a few more times and see where he takes the dates, from both a physical intimacy perspective and talking about the future. I wonder if he's being ultra cautious due to the age gap? I had an experience almost identical to this when I was in my early 20's, going out with a man who had just turne…

He was aware you were an Adventist 10 months ago. Almost a year later and the rubber has finally met the road so to speak and he’s just now deciding these things are deal breakers to him. I admire that you want a male-led relationship but you shouldn’t give him this gift and power by making compromises for your faith. Honestly I read your post and I don’t think he likes you, isn’t into you, etc.

I have never been asked out in the way that you're suggesting. The only way I ever got dates was on apps and yes, 99% of the men on those apps are after "nothing serious" (in an ideal world, a bang maid.) I met my husband on a hobby forum and it took us years to get to a place where we were ready to meet. I'd also suggest you mute or block the dude with the girlfriend. Spinning your wheels over something you can't control isn't healthy. Focus on yourself and finding contentment and joy within yo…

I agree with you. I have found that gender discourse is mostly a thing within the working class. I was raised upper middle class with very conservative, Evangelical parents who insisted on every woman earning a college degree and spending at least 2-5 years in a professional role, and my social circle was raised the same way. When you hear men saying they will happily marry a waitress or retail worker, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that value, but they are also telling on themselves. Mo…

Keep moving. Pilates is great exercise, and I've found tremendous mental health benefits from the regulated breathing and movement with breath. I'd also suggest lifting weights and HIIT, and heavier than you think you can lift. After my divorce I started Orange Theory which I feel gave me my life back. As a results of lifting and power walking I eventually started running and now train for races. Consistently training is a great way to focus on yourself and the confidence boost you'll get is ama…

I think you need better boundaries. You invited a man over to your home after the first date? You walked him through your sexual history? It sounds like you’re searching for emotional intimacy and are oversharing and moving too quickly. He senses this and is leaning into it and you’re easy to manipulate.

You can't change anyone, no matter how much you love them to death. But you can find freedom: freedom from time worry about someone else’s choices, freedom from your constant failure to control someone else’s behavior, freedom to improve your own life, and the life-changing freedom of realizing you always have choices.

I'm so happy for you, this was just lovely all around! 🫶🏻 One of the most valuable aspects a woman can contribute as a homemaker is nourishing the family. I'm lucky enough to genuinely love cooking and baking so it comes easier, but I wish I'd learned sooner that the quality and nutritional content of what I feed my family matters to our moods, our physical health, and overall wellbeing. And we all get hangry, that's just life! I'm inspired by your attitude and how you took ownership.

Observe how he treats others. He should be showing an "attitude of gratitude" and truly shows gratefulness to anyone who does something nice for him. He shows gratitude to the employees he manages, to his father, to me, to his barista. He is also ruthlessly accountable and takes ownership of his life, successes and failures. While I'm careful to not play wife for a man I'm not married to, I did notice when my husband and I were dating that if I'd make a nice homecooked dinner for us one night, h…

From discussions with my husband and my own experience, above all it's a wife who brings fun, sweetness, and levity to life. When he first messaged me, he mentioned he liked how playful I was and he wanted to get to know me. I also think it was crucial to bring the ability to run a home properly, and curiosity and intelligence. I don't really think this changes with age but it's my first time considering it, so maybe I'll change my mind! :) My husband once referenced Katherine of Aragon as an ex…

He seems quite immature and is spending lots of energy on learning how to manipulate you. He also didn't really follow through on therapy (if I read that correctly.) If I genuinely thought I was going to lose the love of my life for self destructive behaviors, I would be so knee deep into therapy, counseling, mentorship, etc. that it would almost be a problem in itself. I'm just not sure he values you with his actions, and it doesn't seem important to him to have a marriage built on trust.

You have a four month old and you're trying to be a sugar baby. Your attitude in your post is unappealing, and I wonder if men are getting this vibe from their short interactions with you. It might make sense to adjust your standards if you have a newborn at home. Anyways, I found love when I focused on my side of the street - and I was also fat, lol.

Does he listen to a lot of podcasts and read self help books? I'm asking because I used to be like this and got VERY into the "Extreme Ownership" way of life, to an obsessive point. I'm thinking of commentators like Jocko Willink, Jordan Peterson, etc. I adjusted and softened my approach with others when I was called out on how incredibly annoying it was, and frankly controlling. I changed, and it's possible that he can too. It's absolutely possible to work this out, but he might not care to shi…

No I meant just doing a lot of yoga! 😅 Immediately after my divorce I bought an annual unlimited membership and would often do two classes a day, it was a 5 minute walk. I'd often do a 6pm vinyasa and a 7:15pm yin or restorative class. I was learning how to invest in myself and make myself a priority, and as much as I love a bath bomb and a little treat, this was the healthiest way I could have practiced self care.

My husband and I are involved in kink, and we do not proceed with anything where either of us is "confused." Unless we're 100% enthusiastically into it we don't touch it. I'll be honest, this sounds impulsive and like there's potential for impulsive decisions to destroy your marriage, or maybe you're clinging to wanting to be the cool girl. You're note even married yet and you're considering risky decisions, and for what?

That makes me so sad for you. My husband and I decided to get married when we realized how complete we are single, but that we always default to wanting to spend time with one another even if we have the choice to be in our offices, alone running errands, traveling solo, whatever. People get married for all sorts of reasons and one of my primary reasons was companionship, but specifically his. I had never been with anyone else before where I didn't crave a lot of alone time. My ex exhausted me a…

I’m sorry, I looked at your post history :( I’m worried for you. He’s not the one for you. I go to daily 12 step online meetings, it’s helped me maintain sobriety as well as build my self esteem and find my worth. If you’d ever like to check one out, let me know.

Oil and deep moisturize feet with socks For the non-beauty related: 12 step meeting Intense HIIT class Pray Treat myself to Daily Harvest box. No cooking, easy vegan food. This is rare since it'…

Buy the condo! He has different priorities and thankfully he’s telling you them. You’re 28 and it appears as though you’re dating a man who wants wife privileges without making you a wife. If you’d like kids, you have time. I’d really consider whether this man is who you want to take seriously right now. If it were me, I’d buy the condo, break up with him, and go all in on a yoga studio nearby. (Can you tell I’ve been through this before? 😢)

You say they’re all going except they are not all going - your boyfriend and another woman are going out drinking, followed by a sleepover, and his response to your feelings are he wants you to trust him. You don’t need to communicate better, you don’t need to get along with another woman, you don’t need to trust him. Babe I’m sorry, this little boy is a waste of your time.
