They are slightly different, similar enough to where a human could use vet insulin or a dog human insulin, but cost exactly the same to make as the process and base materials are the same, both have to be approved by the FDA. It's not that expensive, sure you have to do lab reports on each batch, but that is the same with Tylenol or any other FDA approved product, but insulin is actually made in bulk with genetically modified bacteria, like kevlar. If it is so expensive to make, why is insulin for animals (identical cost to manufacture) so much cheaper?
