As a teacher, I mind. I have to look at these kids when I'm talking to them, and when I'm moving about the room and watching students work, it could look like I'm looking at them when I'm just looking at their computers or considering a response to a question without realizing where my gaze is. School should require professional-ish dress for everyone for a number of reasons.

What's really awesome is that these people can become teachers without any real content knowledge. They just have to pass some tests and go through a program, and they're in. I know a girl who's teaching this gender bullshit as a student teacher to highschool freshmen English students.

The only way to change the situation IS to get more men in teaching. And to make the process of educating teachers require more skilled and knowledgeable teachers and less bureaucracy and bullshit. Likewise, teachers need to be held responsible only for teaching, not for raising the children of absentee parents. Politics. Everything is politics, and as long as men see education as beneath them, it will never get better.
