Julian Assange is not a left-wing symbol, nor is he anyone you want to associate yourself with. Assange is either a willing tool of dictators or an incompetent moron who is unknowingly a tool for dictators. The discussion how certain feminist actions/movements/etc were used to arrest him is interesting, but it certainly does not justify putting this puppet on a pedestal.

Jordan Peterson (like him or hate him) has a very accurate criticism of intersectional thinking, which I'll try to summarize Human behaviour is so complex there are practically infinite ways to look at it, therefore there are effectively infinite axes of 'oppression' that you could analyze. Even if we assume that intersectional thinkers analyze these axes objectively and accurately (they don't), any finite model of intersectionality is simply a representation of your own ideological views becaus…

We're committed to egalitarian and liberal principles. This is the problem. When you're actually committed to egalitarian and liberal principles, those who pretend to be must beat you down and create a caricature of you before people start comparing the two of you.

This is a great case of that famous Upton Sinclair quote: “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” These kinds of "equality and diversity committee" do not exist for equality. They exist for ideological purposes, so they will never go against the ideology that keeps them there in the first place.

I think most men are afraid but we are drilled not to show it. I would argue the opposite, but maybe that's because I don't live in the US. I think most people, unless they've been victimized, naturally feel safe. Modern society is pretty damn safe. It's not that men feeling safe is strange. It's that the US seems to actively instill a culture of fear into women that isn't normal.

There is no objective or scientific basis for measuring 'political power', therefore making your viewpoint meaningless and entirely down to your personal whims. But even ignoring that, by your logic, leftwing policies become rightwing if the rich lose their political power. That is to say: If the left were ever succesful, they would instantly stop being the left and become rightwing. This is asinine.

But they label them "signs of toxic masxulinity" and that is bad. Yes, that was my point. In order to score the best, i.e. least hegemonic, score on this test, you would have to: Not consider your work important, regardless what you do. Do not make sure people do as you say, even if you are in a leadership role. Avoid risk as much as possible. Love talking about your feelings. Not want many sexual partners Believe that violence is never justified. Not want to be in charge Not want to be importan…

Laws that favor the minority are left, and those that favor the majority are right. What an amazingly awful take. Let me just shift tax breaks for rich people to the left wing, and universal healthcare to the right wing.

I don't know why we're putting any value in this research. Even ignoring that this was done with an online survey, the concept of 'hegemonic masculinity' has very little scientific basis. In the study you linked, they used the CMNI Inventory-29 questionnaire. I couldn't find that one, but here is the CMNI Inventory-22: 1. My work is the most important part of my life 2. I make sure people do as I say 3. In general, I do not like risky situations* 4. It would be awful if someone thought I was gay…

I think the show went downhill a long time before that, and I'd count Michael as one of the people on the show I couldn't stand. I was never a fan of his opinions or thoughts, but I will admit the man was hilarious and added some much needed comedy to the show.

I've seen a few clips of this guy unrelated to the topic, and I cannot fathom why you would ever think that he is someone worth listening to. I used to enjoy listening to Sam Seder's show a lot, even if I didn't agree with every single thing. Unlike most on the left, he was pragmatic and policy-oriented. He wasn't an ideologue pursuing some idealistic pure ideology. And the show was extremely funny at times. However, he's always had a major issue with surrounding himself with absolute idiots, an…

I suspect that for trans women who are deeply invested in the feminist worldview, it's easier to conclude that the parts of masculine gender roles that they hated would feel like a privilege if only they were male. That is to say, they conclude that the reason they hated paying for women or initiating things was because they are trans, rather than considering the possibility that a lot of men don't like that responsibility either. I don't understand why some trans woman are bashing their assigne…

I'm not sure that most people here use 'left wing' in the 'not culturally conservative' sense. At least I was under the impression that economically left-wing but culturally more conservative types were also welcome here. That was part of what appealed to me about this subreddit. Most left-wing discourse I see these days pictures working class people as these culturally liberal 'woke' type, when in reality most of them are very culturally conservative. Although, where the line is drawn for 'cult…

I'll be honest. I believe most people here would mean it in the sense of non-conservative Hard disagree. The meaning of the word 'conservative' is extremely dependent on country and context. Outside of the US, the word 'conservative' primarily tends to be a cultural position rather than an economic one, and one which is not inherently contradictory with a left-wing economic position. I agree with the idea that 'left wing' refers primarily to economic positions. I would advise we leave the word '…

There is no major left-wing party in any western democracy I'm aware of that atually cares about and campaigns for men's issues. You can rationalize until you're blue in the face how fighting for workers' rights is the same as fighting for men's rights, but ultimately workers' rights benefit women too because they work too now. And let's not go full 'No True ScotsmanLeft' here. Just because you dislike them, doesn't change the fact that they are the 'left' nowadays in the Overton window.

Suggesting we can do away with our 'roles' because they're 'socially constructed' has left a lot of people confused, steerless and lonely, and it never worked on a large or even moderate scale. It also leads to the ever-growing issue of treating young boys as defective girls. Medicating their natural behaviour away because if the girls can behave like girls, why can't the boys? It's all social conditioning, after all.

They're selling an emotional experience. This is spot on. OnlyFans is the monetization of parasocial sexual relationships (Parasexual?), and it's honestly disgusting. I've been wondering if there is a proper term for this but I've never been able to find any actual discussion on this concept. I like the term parasexual but it's also a term in biology. It's also the world's richest pimp and the largest child porn distributor. How it's managed to brand itself as female empowerment astonishes me.

accused of being a misandrist that wants to "create more weak men that women can take advantage of" To help you understand the context for this: Most men in anti-feminist spaces are familiar with certain movements or pushes from feminist organizations/spaces/people that claim to be interested in helping men's issues, but end up being hostile to men instead, attempting to blame men's issues on their masculinity and/or the 'patriarchy'. Essentially, most of these try to 'help men' as if they are d…

I doubt they would be saying that if a woman was [most likely are] doing it. wsb has shown that this is entirely class warfare, they'd find a different way to convince a woman to stop doing it. If it was women, they'd call them 'white feminists' and say they're all upper middle class wealthy women gambling on stocks while the real victims are working class women of color. Identity politics is incredibly good at cannibalizing its own followers, spliting into ever more divided identities.

r/stupidpol is anti-woke, but their opinion on feminism is divided. Stupidpol is a marxist subreddit. The marxist sphere has an internal divide between marxist-feminists and, for lack of a clearer term, classical marxists. The marxist-feminists believe in both, while the classical marxists think of intersectional feminism and identity politics as distractions from the real struggle, which is class. Europe doesn't have freedom of speech, which is why Europe spends most of its time under dictatorial rule. I think you should probably not comment on things you have no understanding of. Most European countries have their own freedom of speech/expression clauses in their constitutions, and European democracies are far healthier than the USA. The US is an incredibly broken democracy, and not in any position to be lecturing other countries on how to preserve a democracy.

This is a large part of the reason why gender politics is split among political lines. Left wing groups do not welcome people who disagree on cultural topics, so these people only find platforms in right-wing places/organizations, where they act as a men's rights to right wing politics gateway.

God no, that subreddit is awful. It is full of completely incoherent ramblings. As they should. I believe that engaging with people is by far the best way to deal with people that disagree with you, even if their ideas are reprehensible. However, you should never engage with them in their own language, as it legitimizes it.

Can we kindly not call women 'femoids', nor engage seriously with posters that do? The post itself isn't even that bad and is an interesting starting point for a discussion about the kinds of women in those groups, but if we start to tolerate literal dehumanizing language like 'femoids', we will not only get banned very quickly, we'd also probably deserve it. The people we dislike, sometimes even hate, are still human and should be treated with basic decency. These are women, not 'femoids'.

While I think the experiences of trans people are really useful and illuminating on this subject, we should keep in mind that there is an asterisk to both of their experiences. They don't quite experience the same things as their born gender, nor as their transitioned gender. Because of that, even in cases like that, it's not quite accurate to say that they have experienced both sides and therefore can fairly compare the two.

I really like your explanation of intersectionality, but I want to add a little bit onto it. You've already mentioned that it's a simplistic model that removes bidirectional or grey interpretations of 'privilege' and that you cannot weigh different complex issues against each other. That's all true, but there was one important aspect I think you missed. There are (practically) infinitely many 'axes' with which to analyze humans. There is no objective standard by which to decide what is or isn't …

The truth mainly seems complex to feminists that have accepted a simplistic worldview in which women always have it worse. The simple truth is that men experience different issues from women and always will. Any comparison between the two is ultimately subjective, because there is no real objective way to compare two different kinds of issues. Yes, I would personally argue men have it worse in western countries, but again since it's comparing apples to oranges that's mainly a matter of opinion. …

It starts with the fact that you posted a speech that you copy-pasted into multiple subs. Subreddits that strongly disagree with each other and have different worldviews. This is the online equivalent of memorizing a speech and then reciting it to different political parties. Not going to go over well. I think discussion on the term, how it gets used, and why it's bad is perfectly appropriate for this subreddit. I just think that's separate from discussions about how we should stop other people from using it, which I don't think is feasible right now.

Short answer: By doing something shoulder-to-shoulder, with the freedom to talk but no pressure to. It helps them to feel safe while they open up. Don't ask prying questions, just the occasional open question like whether they have any good stories they'd like to share about the lost one they lost. Trust them to handle their feelings however is right for them. You're just there to provide a safe environment for them.

Oof, that's a tough one. I dislike the term too, but it's coming from pretty deep within feminist academia and has a pretty established motte-and-bailey defense, so if you try to criticize its usage they will simply fall back to their typical defense of the phrase. We could waste endless efforts trying to stop its usage, but I don't think that's achievable right now. Honestly, my suggestion on this one would be to just let it escalate naturally. Like all ideological worldviews, people within the…

You don't know that your fight against the male gender role will actually attenuate it or its consequences. Nor do you know that your fight will improve men's situation. These are assumptions you've made, and you have provided no evidence to back them up. Can you explain to me a concrete path through which you believe your movement will improve men's lives? I'm asking for specific concrete steps here. First we do A, this helps in X way. Then we do B, that helps in Y way. Etcetera.

I'm also concerned about the direction of this subreddit, although from a slightly different angle. I've seen the regular topics change from concrete topics like specific policies or efforts we could focus on, to more ideological and grandiose topics like abolishing gender roles and how traditionalist women are somehow responsible for all evil in the world. This sort of simplistic, reductionist thinking is how bubbles form. Rather than focus on concrete topics we can actually have an influence o…

You can't change anything in the world if you don't know how the system works to begin with. That's why it's important that you first completely understand what you're dealing with, and it doesn't sound like you do. "status-sexual" is not some binary thing. It could mean anything from heartless gold diggers to an average girl who finds it attractive when a man acts dominant. So what are we talking about? Well yes, I had an implicit assumption that when men are talking about their feelings to their friends, those friends were male. I believe the scenario you describe mostly happens when talking to women. I wouldn't really call someone a friend if they responded like that.

The male status system is not 'enforced'. Or rather, it can be enforced further but it will always exist. Status hierarchy is how males compete for females. It's the human equivalent of peacock feathers. You don't need to enforce this, it's a natural consequence of women being selective with who they want to sleep with, which is very much an innate trait. Like most hierarchies, the question isn't "How can we abolish it?" because you can't. The question is "How can we manage this so that it's a g…

The reason they don't talk about it even with their friends is a combination of three factors. Men are naturally averse to opening up. Nobody teaches men how to open up in a way they will actually want to. Nobody teaches men how to support their friends in in a way that actually helps. We keep telling men to put down everything else, sit down, open up, make eye contact, talk about their emotions, cry it out, etc. However, these are predominantly ways that women open up. I clearly poked a hornet's nest by namedropping that subreddit. You can pretend I have no concern for men's rights just because I disagree with you but that doesn't make it true. There are various studies showing that people, both men and women, have a bias in favour of women. Some might argue that this is due to societal influences, but I think it's innate. Warren Farrel argues that this is due to evolutionary reasons: If your survival depends on risking the health and lives of men, then you cannot be sensitive to their pain. He proposes an interesting way to bypass this problem: Focus on boys' issues. Boys still have the benefit of being children, so both men and women…

"Toxic masculinity" is like "Smart asian". Yes, of course it exists, but using that particular term heavily implies that you think one causes the other. Most examples I've seen of "Toxic masculinity" have their origin in a distinct lack of healthy masculine rolemodels in childhood. Who's to say that this isn't because of a decades-old war on masculinity? Who's to say that this isn't because boys are being left behind in school? Who's to say that this isn't due to a lack of resources for men and boys? Even if she were right, she wouldn't be right.

That's exactly the trend I've seen as well. Shoulder to shoulder, with the freedom to talk but no pressure to talk. Is it an expectation that causes men to compete, or is it an innate tendency to compete that creates an expectation? I think men have an innate tendency to compete which draws them towards competitive games rather than the other way around. The empirical evidence seems to suggest this as well. Most men have plenty of compassion for other men. It's just that society doesn't teach us about the more 'masculine' ways of showing emotion or compassion. Instead we're told that what we're supposed to do is talk about our feelings to each other, cry to each other, hug, etc. Those things are fine if that's what someone wants, but very often it's not. This topic was perfectly explained in an amazing comment in AskMen from four years ago: Link I'll quote it here: "To generalize for the purpose of an easy answer, let's think in stereotypically gendered terms. When it comes to love, men have an active role while women have a passive one. What are the implications of this? It means that what a woman feels as the ups and downs, the mystery, the unknown, the excitement, etc., all things that define "blossoming" love, are things that happen to her. …

The populist right (who play identity politics just as much) taking over would not help the sane left to rise. It would just polarize the political sphere in whatever country we're discussing, and cause the identity-politics (feminist) left to become the representative for the entire left.

There is also evidence pointing towards two distinct parenting types, the 'fatherly' type and the 'motherly' type, which are not strictly gender-bound but overlap heavily with gender. The 'fatherly' parent provides the child with boundaries and punishments, encourages the child to take risks and not give up, and teaches how to playfight/control your physical aggression. Children who lack this type of parenting (very common in single mother households) are often entitled (lack of boundaries), shy…

There are rape cases that leave no evidence and it can lead to crimes without proper justice. The problem is that's kind of how any justice process works. We should differentiate between justice with regards to the objective facts, vs justice with regards to the evidence (facts that we know). Any implementation of justice has to be built on the latter, but is judged by the former. The legal system can never know the actual truth. It can only know what the evidence is. Without sufficient evidence…

This is what I'm talking about when I say that ideologues can only think in extremes. Of course you can achieve status without necessarily attacking other men. And most women are not a gaping hole of consumerism always demanding more resources. You're thinking in extremes. Women are not a binary choice of "Gold digging whore" vs "Egalitarian angel". A man who builds his own small business, employs fellow men and women from his community, and becomes succesful in that way is not hurting other men…

Is there something inherently wrong with pursuing status if it's not about consumerism or hurting others? Because what you're describing is more than just "pro-gender-roles", it's explicitly consumerist and harmful. What if I like working hard and pursuing status? What if my girlfriend is more attracted to me because of my ambition and work ethic? Is anyone being harmed here?

I don't know where he draws the line for women that men should avoid, so I can't comment on that specifically and neither can you really. The vast majority of people, men and women, are not narcissistic or destructive. Most just go along with what they think is normal behaviour. If you learn how to have a healthy relationships, set boundaries, and stand up for yourself, they adjust to it and treat you decently. Those who are too far gone will just leave. I see no problem with silencing left-wing (Or right-wing!) posts in this subreddit if they aren't specifically related to men's issues. That's covered under rule 1 in the sidebar. This post, for example, is not specific to men's issues in any way. This whole list is just generic marxist writing. That's fine, but not for this subreddit. Men need to avoid PGRWs, even if they remain single as a result if any hope of achieving socialism or anarchism is to be pursued. This is just throwing your fellow men under the bus in order to achieve your political goals. I think if you pursue your utopian dream over the actual happiness of your fellow men, you are not a male advocate. This is no different from feminists being indifferent to men's loneliness.

Can we please not turn this into a Marxist subreddit? Not just because I personally disagree with marxists, but also because this is not a subreddit for left-wing infighting and ideological purity, and that's exactly what this results in. Not all on the left believe in Marxist theory. The vast majority of everyday people who consider themselves left-wing just want normal things like universal healthcare, social safety nets, and a progressive tax code. Are we not welcome here too?

I don't blame you for not having read Judith Butler, as her writing is so absolutely awful it's nearly incomprehensible. I disagree that gender identity is cultural or related to gender roles. The evidence does not support that. Gender roles and behaviour are influenced by culture, but not your identity. It's important to draw a distinction between identifying as a man, vs feeling like you are living up to the expectations of a man. These are very different subjects, but gender constructionists …

I would argue that a key difference between masculinity and femininity is that femininity is more linked to being, while masculinity is more linked to doing. I think you would agree with that. However, where we disagree is our opinion about that. I strongly disagree. (The progressive 'positive masculinity' is entirely fabricated and imposed, so I'm going to ignore that one.) The conservative ideal of virtuous masculinity (mostly) flows naturally from the biological imperatives of men. That is to say, there are biological differences between men and women and handling your biology in a healthy and productive way is part of your gender role. For example, men's biology makes us more risk-seeking, more impulsive, and potentially more violent…

If your movement or person discusses a variety of topics, not just related to men/gender/feminism, then you can somewhat get away with avoiding labels. And you're right, then it's a good move because it focuses on the issues. I don't think the MRA label is salvageable. Attributing all human bloodshed, scarcity, and suffering to one singular cause which we should abolish is the tell-tale sign of an ideologue. This post is all over the place, jumping from topic to topic with little explanation, background, or argument. There is an unequal distribution of the labour freeing benefits found in modern societies which is largely the result of inherent differences between men and women. Men aren't going to work and earn less as long as women have a preference for dating men at or above their income level. That's asking men to intentionally do something that will sabotage their own success with women. And women aren't going to magically change their preferences because they are largely innate.

In response to an article about why male celibacy is on the rise (Which mentioned female empowerment and #MeToo), AOC tweeted "If you think your ‘celibacy’ is due to “female empowerment,” maybe it’s because far too many people relied on the disempowerment + silence of women to not be ‘celibate’ in the first place." Implying men's celibacy is rising because they can no longer rape women. I think it's a pretty safe bet she's not an ally.

It's not a fallacy, and you seem to be reading far more into these comparisons than is actually said. Nobody is trying to equate men's issues with black people's issues. It is simply a rhetorical tool to help people realize how bad certain statements are. This is often needed because people are not accustomed to seeing negative statements about men as 'offensive'. Seeing the translation to racial statement makes it 'click' in people's heads. None of this detracts from the issues those people fac…

This is such an insanely stupid, misleading post, that even the feminism subreddit points it out: I think on goodreads anything you search will come up as "popular ----- books" and some of those might not be "romances." I totally agree with the sentiment of this post tho. "This post is wrong and misleading, you are making up fake categories to get outraged about. Still agree with the sentiment though!"

From childhood onwards we see ads for weight loss pills, Botox, body shape changing braces. Tween girls use creams to lessen the stretch marks that come with pubterty, high school girls are already trying to prevent wrinkles. Most girls start doing makeup before they start puberty. Anorexia is a crisis in teen and young adult women. Most women paint their faces on a daily basis. I don't think anyone can realistically call this self-improvement. Self-improvement is becoming a better person, not j…

You state that self improvement is constantly throw at and practiced by women, yet you try to prove your argument by pointing out the consumption of beauty products due to insecure body image, eating disorders, and obsession with shallow beauty. All of these are the opposite of self-improvement.

I find it amazing how, with a straight face, you've managed to write this entire post genuinely believing that buying beauty products and obsessing over your appearance is self-improvement. I don't have words to describe what I am feeling right now.

This is just typical verbal sleight of hand employed by feminists. Yes, people cared about male incels. They cared in the sense that people hated and despised them. However, now we want to drum up sympathy for female incels, so we're going to use verbal sleight of hand to say "Why do you only care about men?". Anyway, to answer her dishonest question: Because with the advent of online dating and tinder, female incels are virtually non-existent. Almost any woman nowadays can get sex (of questiona…

I don't think that is the typical feminist view, or even that there is a typical feminist view. Feminism is an ideological worldview, and like all ideologies, it casts a magnifying glass on facts, figures, and people that support and reinforce its own worldview. Ideological worldviews generally do not have a standard view on facts that do not fit the ideology well. That would involve having to incorporate uncomfortable facts into an established framework that does not want to publicize these fac…

The problem with such a study is the results would be entirely up to personal interpretation, and therefore will only convince people further of what they already believe. Let me illustrate: Let's say high female enrollment is correlated with female scholarships Anti-Feminist: "There are more scholarships the more women enroll in a university. See, female scholarships aren't offered due to low female enrollment." Feminist: "There is more female enrollment the more female scholarships are offered…

You are delusional if you think feminism isn't the status quo, and you are even more delusional if you think that your regurgitated feminist talking points are going to have the typical silencing effect in an anti-feminist subreddit. I'll grant you one last attempt at actually engaging in a conversation with you: Women, on average, choose different career paths from men. This gets amplified the more feminist a country is, because allowing people to choose whatever careers they are interested in …

I haven't personally seen any studies on this myself and they might not even exist, but I'd be willing to bet that the effect will be less than for women, but still statistically significant. Male sexuality is less psychological than female, so it makes sense that the psychological effects would be less pronounced. However, I don't think men get off entirely without consequences either.

I agree. I just think that, being realistic, until the popular sentiment changes (which is something we need to work on), these are the only two things you can do. Getting college kids to apply for female scholarships is a feasible goal though, if we can raise awareness among boys that this is possible. It's money after all, there will be boys who want or need it.

Unfortunately, within the current social climate, there simply isn't enough anti-feminist sentiment to change this yet. I see two possible ways to play into this, given the cards we are dealt: Option 1: The legal route. If you are able and willing to pursue this legally, apply to as many women's scholarships as you can, and when you are inevitably rejected, try your best to get in writing that you were rejected for your gender. Then pursue this legally for gender discrimination. There may be org…

You are exactly the kind of person who should start applying Chesterton's Fence. What you are doing is not progressing society, you are merely attempting to destroy things you do not understand. Feminism is not a counterculture. It has thoroughly penetrated every political system, legal system, educational system and major corporation. You do not get to play the underdog card.

Innate: An innate quality or ability is one that you were born with, not one you have learned. I don't know why you replied with a wall of text about genes when I didn't mention genetics once. The scientific evidence on gender points to prenatal hormone theory, suggesting that your gender identity is formed by hormonal influences during development of your brain in the womb. In other words, gender is innate. You are born with it. I'm not talking about behaviour, I am talking about gender. Behavi…

Your interpretation is concordant with feminism's No, it isn't. Firstly, I reject gendered term 'patriarchy' as it is incorrect, misleading, and sexist. Secondly, I reject the notion that the 'patriarchy' was created, constructed, designed, or any other active verb. It is simply a natural consequence of human biology. Thirdly, I reject the notion that the 'patriarchy' is enforced by men. It was predominantly women who enforced these norms, and still is. Fourth, I reject the notion that the 'patr…

You're right that it's an inherently conservative (As in, preserve-the-status-quo conservative) concept, but it's correct. You shouldn't make changes to the system if you don't understand why the current status quo exists. That goes for both left and right wing. That doesn't mean you should never make changes. Understand why the current system exists, then argue your proposal in that context. If your proposals are right, then researching why the current status quo exists will only strengthen you…

"Sole benefit" is unfair. What feminists scarily call 'the patriarchy' of the olden days, was just a collection of norms, duties, responsibilities, social taboos, labour divisions, and more, that existed not due to some evil conspiracy enforcing these rules from above, but because it followed naturally from human biology and human nature. It carried benefits and downsides for either gender, to the benefit of society as a whole. The concept of 'dismantling the patriarchy' is the perfect example o…

It's simply another example of what I'd call the feminist magnifying glass: It's not inherently wrong to look at society through a magnifying glass, but when that's all you do, you're missing everything outside of it. You can point it out to them, but they're so used to looking through the feminist magnifying glass, that the concept of looking at the rest of society outside of it simply doesn't occur to them.

I don't see how any 'psychology student' can seriously support the concept of gender abolition. Gender abolition is unscientific drivel. Gender is innate in human beings, and any attempts to 'abolish' it are just camouflaged attempts to force men to behave like women. Anyone who supports gender abolition is not a male advocate. In fact, any proponent of 'gender abolition' is simultaneously insulting and counteracting everything trans people have achieved.

I was researching various topics on wikipedia, and noticed a clear trend that there are always two kinds of suffering: Women's suffering, and generic suffering. Even "Discrimination against women" redirects to sexism, while "Discrimination against men" redirects to misandry. All of these can be verified on wikipedia right now.

You're right, it's still not good, but it's an important distinction to make when analyzing and discussing the person: If a man is incapable of gaining commitment, it usually has different causes than if he were incapable of keeping it. Simply put: If no woman wants to be your girlfriend, you are in a different position than if a woman will be your girlfriend, but gets tired of you in a week. I noticed the majority of the replies were of the second kind, and fair enough, OP specified the questio…

I suppose he technically qualifies under OP's definition then, but I would disagree with OP, as such a person is clearly capable of obtaining commitment, just not holding on to it. But that's a disagreement with OP, not you.

so of course he couldn't keep a girlfriend. Getting a girlfriend and keeping one are not the same thing. Op as asking about the former, but the guy you mention clearly got a girlfriend.
