The media and activists just like saying the phrase "possible hate crime" but it doesn't usually turn out that way unless race was the main factor, which in this case it doesn't not see that it was. Just because the media or some activist says the phrase "possible hate crime" doesn't mean the accused ever gets charged with a hate crime. In most cases it just gets charged as regular assult or whatever. There are pretty specific criteria that must be met before it counts as a hate crime. Don't believe the hype.
