For sure. I avoided that scenario when I posted because it is so obvious that it's a given. The OP has a strong point too, that it's just as telling that the cop wasn't punished for this abuse of power. I was trying to draw a distinction on the one point, but not undermine or deflect attention from the second at all.

It's fucked up that this happened to the kid, but it didn't have to do with gender, Do you think this guy's reaction would have been the same had his daughter been sleeping with a girl? I don't. It does have to do with gender, it just doesn't have to do with gender exclusively.

Excepting rape and child abuse, can you name an accusation that is as devastating to a man's reputation and place in society as either of those? This doesn't help matters much. What about a situation where the question of paternity only arises years later? Years the man has been supporting this child? Courts these days have a nasty habit of assigning financial responsibility on a man even when they know that the man in question is not the father. They put …

You're not stupid either. Granted, it really sucks that you came to the realization after the engagement, but to deny your position and go through with it with this level of doubt would just lead to resentment, and probably contribute to the relationship failing. I don't think you should entirely write her off just yet, and I think that some of the people in this thread are overly critical of her. There's gotta be a big shock, and an equally big emotional reaction to someone calling off their en…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
