He probably wouldn't until he reached an age where an income can reasonably be expected. Child support is based on income, so while the would-be obligor has no income (for a valid reason) then the amount owed would naturally be zero as well.
What should the child do, then? Live life with only one parent's financial support, when all other children are entitled to two parents' financial support?
