3	Double Standards Against Men There's more to power and control than physical enforcement. Edit: Not saying rape isn't a predominantly male exertion of power. 14	POS shit mom telling kid to "be a man" and "stop being a sissy". This. It's a bit of both, and I honestly don't mind the classic idea of men not showing emotions as readily as women do. It's just a gut feeling (as in no actual research on my end) but I think there's some credence to it. The problems arise when men are never allowed to show emotions. In my experience, though, men and woman alike, casual feminists or not, know this seemingly by default. My peers sometimes tell me to man up, and sometimes tell me it's okay to be whatever feeling.
