It's an extension of the attitude I've often faced at home. If my wife has a problem, I'll help her fix it. If I have a problem, she tells me to fix it myself or tries to convince me it's not really a problem.

My first college girlfriend broke up with me because, at the time, I was going to become a high school teacher. She said that teachers don't earn enough money to support the kind of lifestyle she planned to live. I had no idea how big a bullet I dodged.

I'm also in between. I don't like the idea of killing a viable fetus. But I acknowledge a woman's right to make the choice far outweighs my opinion simply because I'm not the one carrying the baby. I just don't want abortion used as "oops" birth control when other methods are effective, safe, and readily available, but seldom spoken of in sexual education contexts.

Sure seems that way. If I'm frustrated, I'm expected to solve the problem myself. If I'm mad, I'm seen as unreasonable. If I'm actually happy for a change, I must be bored or up to no good, so I need to be given something to do.

Based on my experience working in retail, some people think that whoever is loudest is right, or that you don't agree simply because you haven't heard or understood what they're saying.

I'm stuck in this very situation. My solution is to give up sleep. It's a terrible, unsustainable solution, but unless a check for a million dollars drops in my lap, it's the only option I have.

Any link to what prompted Lisa to make these statements?

I'm not even 40 yet, but I can relate to a lot of this. Feeling trapped and disconnected.

Simpsons did it. Lisa: But it’s not fair. Adults always blame kids for everything. Homer: Well if kids are so innocent why is every bad named after them? “Acting childish.” “Kidnapping.” “Child abuse.” Bart: What about adultery? Homer: Not until you’re older, son.

Heh. Right. That gap will never be resolved in my house. It just keeps getting bigger. Now I'm even picking up and throwing away her used tissues.

Why I gotta use my hard-earned income to make up for a societal problem that may or may not affect you?

Really? I thought it did... I may have to reread that article.

Regardless of whether this is a satirical post or not, I'm just glad to live in a state with "Good Samaritan" protection laws.

I was going to comment that the sign isn't doing anything to guilt women, but you make a good point.

I don't understand what this person's gender identity has to do with the story.

I hope page 1 just says, "Don't." And the rest of the book is blank.

She wasn't like this before we had kids. Pretty sure it's not post-partum depression. I don't understand the change.

Not in my house. The only way she's happy is if I do all the work--full-time job, cleaning, child care, cooking, yardwork, etc.--while she naps. And even then she'll claim she's too tired to give me time to do the things that make me happy.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
