King Henry VIII beheaded and divorced several of his wives because they only produced girls, or couldn’t get pregnant whatsoever. After going through 6 wives, he only got 2 girls and 1 boy. Many people in China, among other Asian countries, KILL their newborns if they are girls, as boys are more likely to bring material success and wealth to a family once at adulthood.
