The whole point is that we have no idea what happened, there is no context, just a woman throwing a punch at a guy who then hits her a few times more. For all we know at the very start, when the guy took a single step towards her, he could have said "I'll fucking kill you". We don't know anything except she was angry or scared enough to throw the first punch

The guy wasn't walking away, he was stood in front of her looking at her, at the very first moment he takes a step towards her actually, watch the first second of the video, watch his feet. She then hits him, he hits back. What a reasonable person would have done was actually walk away.
