1	The Equality Paradox: Gender Equality Intensifies Male Advantages in Adolescent Subjective Well-Being I don't think anyone is saying equality is unfair to women. I just looked and the authors actually had a similar idea as you- that in higher quality countries, women's expectations for equality are high and not met by their experience, since even in these places they still experience discrimination to some extent. So that could be worse than having low expectations for equality which exactly matches your experience. 1	The Equality Paradox: Gender Equality Intensifies Male Advantages in Adolescent Subjective Well-Being The study reported that equality measures showed NO effect, positive or negative, on adolescent girls wellbeing, but did increase boys wellbeing.
