If her dad bought the house you live in, there won’t be that asset to divide. You may be able to get long term alimony depending on how much she makes and how much your income is inputed at. I live in a less expensive area of CA, fast food workers here make slightly over 40k a year, if you have more skills than entry level I would expect her lawyer to claim you are voluntarily underemployed making 40k.

If she’s getting the profits she can use that as a down payment and get a conventional loan. If the interest was going to be super low you could be nice and buy it and then sell it to her, VA loans are assumable. But a VA loan isn’t going to drop the interest much.

She would have to agree to it. A court won’t order her to put her life on hold financially for 3-5 years.

A court won’t let you get all the fun time and the mother get all the school days. 2 2 5 5 is fair.

If the government has to step in to provide food for your children a child support case will be open so the state can recoup some money from the other parent. Make sure to not commit fraud on your application because she’s definitely going to let them know the custody agreement when they go after her.

You may owe her half of the money you gambled away, but it may be cheaper for her to let that go as opposed to paying an attorney to go after it.

Actually since you are one of her sponsors go ask for a copy of her records then you will know what base she’s treated at and you can find them that way. Edit: copy of her medical records

Yes, it’s typical that stepparents have their stepchildren on their DEERs on their list of “family members.” Good luck.

Submit a FOIA to DEERs asking who’s Tricare your daughters social security number is linked too. It should be you and the stepfather.

Telling a stranger to kill themself is crazy. Are you on medication? If not, you should look into it.

Quitting your job won’t help. The court will impute the same income as voluntarily unemployment. Appeal with a new lawyer.

Find an attorney. Her lawyer may call any dip in income voluntary underemployment. You need a lawyer that can prove the income drop wasn’t your choice.

Your friend sounds like he is suffering with extreme mental illness. The best thing you can do is be supportive and encourage him to take his medication every day, to NOT leave the hospital early and to continue therapy once released. Everything else is second to him getting well. Attempting suicide isn’t a normal reaction to separation. It’s very serious and he needs major support right now. The longer he stays in the hospital in a controlled environment the longer the medication has the opport…

Your lawyer said you can force your landlord to give you the equity in his home? That’s bizarre.

You can’t take her jewelry and sell it unless she agrees for you to do it and then split the money with her.

She would have to have her own lawyer review it to be enforceable…so, her not reading legal documents wouldn’t be relevant.

Courts don’t care if you have good credit. If the mom is a drug addict they would care about that. Your teens will have a lot of input on where they want to live.

If the schedules align you would be alone 50% of the time. If the kids are close in age/same gender they can share rooms, unless they don’t like each other.

Look into dual citizenship or residency requirements in the UK. It may be less expensive and easier for you to get a job if she’s willing to stay legally married long enough for you to gain the status needed to live and work there long term.

You are a really good man. I wish I had some resources to offer, the only thing I can suggest is perhaps looking up some online or local to her therapists that provide therapy for victims of SA and encouraging her to take the first step that she deserves. Don’t blame yourself for not confronting her to ask about it. I think most people don’t have the tools to approach something like this, I know I don’t.

Custody is based on overnights, not days. Working nights isn’t compatible with 50/50 time sharing.

Of course you can leave. I would personally leave prior to eviction. It will be nearly impossible to find anyone willing to rent to you with an eviction on your record.
/r/Divorce_Men03/06/23 07:53 PM

Presumably if she moves in with her parents they will evict you as rapidly as possible so she can move back in.

She will have to have a separate attorney review a post nup it for it to be legal. Most attorneys won’t advise their client to sign away their rights.

The hypocrisy is that this subreddit is full of men who accuse wome of being scumbags who don’t deserve alimony for life or 50/50 of everything. The board is saying alimony is amazing. If it goes to men who may be low owners for a variety of reasons. No one has said “bro, you want her to cut you a check every month forever? You don’t want to ever get on your feet? If you weren’t aware of the hypocrisy and really* needed it to be spelled out then you are worth every dime you may get in alimony yo…

They get calls from annoying spouses all the time. There is nothing mentioned that would cause your commander to revoke your leave unless your texts were egregious or threatening. Just make sure you continue to pay her the amount the reg for your branch states and tell your lawyer the divorce needs to be final as soon as possible so you can get the harassment to end.

Get an attorney, you will need a court order to sell the house or require her to buy you out of the equity. Same with the car, although nothing is stopping you from moving back in your house or taking your joint car. Talk to a lawyer before doing either. Houses aren’t selling well in TX right now due to the 7+% interest rates, your mileage may vary if you are in a city. I’m a landlord in TX and considered selling recently (not due to divorce) but the market isn’t great outside of Fort Hood where…

I would definitely ask for them not to use FRoR during work when they are with family. Your ex may think she can have the upper hand watching the kids during daytime hours. Maybe let her know the only thing that counts for CS is overnights if she’s trying to be greedy.
/r/Divorce_Men18/04/23 04:48 AM

You can ask for FROR for overnights only for her. 8 hours is pretty typical especially if she thinks your kids may be with someone else when you are working and she is available.

Since you don’t have assets to split don’t drive yourself crazy. You should both get free consults with lawyers at this point.

TX doesn’t have 50/50 unless agreed by the parents. They are still a huge mom state and do standard visitation or extended visitation. Most of the things you said probably can’t be proven like throwing a remote. It’s he said/she said unless recorded. The failed marriage isn’t relevant. The DUI won’t be relevant either. She wasn’t driving with a kid in the car or it wouldn’t have been expunged. Interview several lawyers and ask what their track record is for the father getting primary.

Would they just be reviewing them to see that she’s still low income? She is.

You can’t kick her out of the marital home. Ask her to start paying bills.

I wouldn’t be so concerned she lies to the police. The truth is bad enough for at minimum a restraining order and supervised visitation at a facility you pay for.

Cook with them, make pizzas (you can buy the pizza dough premade), teach them easy breakfast things like French toast and pancakes. Take them to the park and stay off your phone aside from taking their pictures. There are some cooking classes on zoom for kids, they are around $30 if you are in the US but super fun. Check out Sur La Table. If you have large thrift stores near you, you can take them for board games and books. They usually have tons of both and you can give them each $5-10 to spend…

End it before it’s time to move. I wouldn’t feel guilty if that’s your hesitation. It sounds like she’s going to flourish once she gets over the separation.

If you are in the US you can make a complaint to the bar association and try to get your money back that way.

I think so. It would look like you are using marital money to buy yourself a house by putting it in your parents name. This sounds easy for a lawyer to pick apart.
