Even if it's the norm I see that being far from ideal. For one I'm pretty sure it's shown divorced households have a negative impact on children. Also why go through causing all of that stress on either partner. Not to mention the financial turmoil of splitting a household and paying child support.

I had an amazing, yet brief, relationship with a wonderful woman who appeared in my life randomly when I wasn't looking. Meanwhile years later after being a much better person when I have actively looked I haven't met anyone I want to date. Life is just weird that way.

It all depends on what you desire and value in life. Sure starting a family is really important to you maybe certain things about your partner don't matter as long as they're a suitable father/mother for your kids. Problem is a lot of men and women don't want family, they want a romantic connection. If I don't find my partner attractive there isn't anything to gain from investing time into them. You shouldn't expect your partner to change and get better. It's not your job to fix them. You should…

Settling all depends on what you value. Have highly do you value family or kids? Are you after financial stability? Imo it seems like more women settle than men. If I had to guess a lot of it plays into how your average man and woman are attracted to each other in different way. Many women place starting a family very high up on their priority list. It's not that looks aren't important to them but instead it's only one of the important things they're after. By settling a person is often choosing…

The last part really hits home for me. You stop being desperate and bitter when you live your best life even if you're indefinitely single and not getting the girl of your dreams. Being the best version of you and finding things to enjoy in life not only will just make you happy but it would give you the best chance of meeting someone you like. You live a great life realizing it was not meant to be and you have no regrets

This isn't an issue a therapist can solve. It's a complex problem of supply and demand. Men and women are attracted to each other for a variety or reasons and that attraction is rarely something you can just change on a fly. You can't gas light yourself into liking someone you don't find attractive. If you do you'll end up very bitter and miserable and likely cause a lot of harm.

Nothing to do with feminism or women's opinions really. The way I see it matching up every man and woman in society is an increasingly complex math problem without a solution and when people are trying to help the only thing they can think of is telling people to lower their standards

I've thought about this quite often but tbh not really. From my own experience the longer I go being single the more comfortable I get being alone. Don't get me wrong I feel a ton of angst and desire to be with a woman but that's the thing. It's desire to be with someone I find attractive, not a desire to not be alone. I've always put work into making new friends and maintaining my social life so I don't feel lonely. I've always got someone to talk to. Most times when I go on dates and a girl wa…

I'm stubborn as hell and would rather be single indefinitely than date someone I will resent and never feel desire for.

In a way this is like saying those who aren't alcoholics aren't just because they haven't drank as many bottles of liquor as alcoholics. Just because hookup culture is enjoyable doesn't mean it's healthy. Like with drugs and habits there will always people who are less self indulgent. Ultimately the guys who have the ability to hookup with any girl but don't are the most well rounded and desirable partners.

You should also consider the economic side of things. Women on average are starting to be better educated, wealthier, and more likely to be home owners. Statistically women only date at their level and up. Throw in the fact there's a shrinking middle class and the rise of cost of living and you're basically going to have a lot higher standards. And that's before you even really talk about things like social media, age, height, ect.

I think another major factor is women are usually single by choice and it can almost be an effort to stay single for attractive women because they always have options and opportunities. Many single men enjoy a lot of things about their single life but the sad reality is whether it be after a few weeks or a few years when a guy decides to take a peek into the dating world they have no options.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
