It's easier to happen than you think. I had my first kiss at 28, so not quite 30, but I could've easily gone on being a virgin into my 30s or beyond. Have strict/controlling parents who don't really let you do anything and who only care about grades/school Be awkward/short/unathletic/boring/immature (both physically and emotionally) in high school Study STEM in college where virtually all classes, social events, etc are 80-90% men Graduate during the recession and have to get a job in the middle…

Ah yes nerd conventions. The only places with a worse gender ratio than Tinder lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 04:23 PM

No one will outright say it, but single dudes are often unwanted at a lot of social events. The single women don't want to be hit on (there are exceptions for very attractive men, but as a general rule a single woman joining a club doesn't want to find a bf there). The other single guys don't want the competition. The hetero couples don't want the single dudes hitting on the women. The difference in how I was treated when I was with my gf vs when I was alone was surprising.

Same her, but it was both of my parents not just my dad. They worked, provided a house and food, etc but took little to no interest in me after I wasn't an infant anymore. They never taught me how to play any sports (Dad was a D1 college football player), never cared or asked about any of my interests, never gave me any meaningful advice about anything, actively prevented me from socializing, decided that basically any activity children older than 10 might be interested in was either too dangero…

Who is saying the nuclear family doesn't work? I've definitely heard that the nuclear family is not the only type of family that can work, but can't say I've heard many people say it doesn't work at all. It's pretty common in certain American leftist circles. Abolishing the nuclear family was the official position of a few BLM organizations at one point.

He was 19 not 15. Not sure how old OP is, but assuming he was 19 pre-COVID most of his peers would've had multiple partners by that age.

That's part of being receptive to your environment. Of course some 5'2 bald guy with a bland personality is going to have a different experience that a 6'4 body builder.

Especially posts like this that don't even link to a full video or the streamer. I didn't feel like listening to 10 minutes of some guy's commentary to see 20 seconds of video, but from the few bits I saw it looked like the stream might've been improv or rage bait.

From what I've seen "incel" seems to have replaced homophobic slurs that were common in the 90s and 00s. I'm sure if there was a such word as incel when I was in high school I would've been called one even though I've never hated women or blamed women for all my problems.

Lmao I'm an engineer. I used to think that when I was younger. In reality we're not smarter than anyone else.

Very few engineers with the exception of civil and (to a lesser extent) mechanical engineers are doing actual design work.

Top 2% according to this calculator (https://dqydj.com/income-percentile-by-age-calculator/). And that includes unemployed people, drug dealers with no reported income, grad students, service workers who don't report tips, etc. I could see $200k not mattering or even being perceived as below average in SF or NYC.

There are literally no houses in my area (Boston, MA) that would be affordable on a $60k salary. Assuming a $60k down payment and 6% interest that's about $300k buying power. You'd have to go as far north as Manchester, as far west as Worcester, or as far south as Rhode Island to even find listings that meet that criteria. Those commutes aren't impossible I guess, but you'd be spending 2-3 hours a day driving in some of the worst traffic in the country. Even then a lot of the listings are just s…

I grew up in one of those states. Unless your family is a major landowner or owns a factory or something no one gives a shit if you make $90k there either.

It sure was when I was in school. If you didn't play sports you were a social pariah. We had 20+ year old falling apart text books with pages missing, but they spent $10M on a new football field. Even teachers would make fun of kids who focused on academics or didn't/couldn't play sports for whatever reason.

How is it even possible for a man to make more than 90k a year, projected to make more in the future, who has a good career and great potential to still struggle with dating. I would challenge your premise that $90k/yr is a good/impressive career. I know truck drivers, bartenders, waitresses, etc that make that much in HCOL areas. According to this source (https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/median-income-by-country) the median income in the US is about $70k. So it's above the med…

Only 1-3% of the population truly has autism, if it’s distributed evenly between the genders it’s .5-1.5%. It would still be 1-3% of men who have autism if it's evenly distributed. Consider a population of 100 men and 100 women. 2-6 of them would have autism. 1-3 of both the men and women would have autism. 1-3% of both groups would have autism.

Meh I had a lot more luck on scroll based dating apps especially OkCupid in the late 00s-early 10s. Sure online dating, and all dating honestly, has always been heavily based on looks. But back then you could message whoever you wanted, search algorithms weren't enshittified, dating sites would disclose last activity so you'd know you weren't wasting time with inactive profiles, profiles, match questions, etc were emphasized along with photos. Even though I was 5'4 and balding I was still able t…

Think it’s the same reason people always try and make out every poor person is bad or stupid or always to blame for their situation. Doing that on Reddit will get you down voted into oblivion or outright banned from a lot of subreddits these days. But if you tell a 5'0" balding mid-20s guy struggling with dating that it's not all his fault you'll be called an incel.

For that kind of money there's a lot of incentive to just hire women to pretend to be dates. It wouldn't surprise me if most/all of the introductions are just with actors.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/08/23 05:02 PM

Most fat women are fairly adept at taking pictures that make them look thinner. They know exactly what clothes to wear, what angle to use, how to suck in their cheeks and stomach, etc. You might be able to tell generally if a woman is fat or skinny, but probably not the difference between overweight and obese, etc. Men do the same thing to a lesser extent with their hairline and height.

This is dangerous thinking. Gay men sexual assault rates are similar to straight women (source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4117833/). That's like saying women don't need to worry about rape because there's a bdsm community.

Any more examples of non western “rich countries” then? Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, and to a lesser extent Uruguay. There's also middle eastern countries like Qatar and UAE, but a western man trying to date a local could go very badly there.

That's more to do with the enormous income and wealth difference between most American men and Filipina women. The difference is hard to comprehend. It would be like an American waitress marrying a professional athlete. The professional athlete would be expected to help the waitress's family in America too.

See what you don't take into account is that the general population doesn't really appreciate the worth of UCB/Stanford, yes they know it's prestigious, but how prestigious is going to be known only by someone within the scene. I'm pretty sure most people in SF and NYC know the value of a CS degree from Stanford. Less so UCB though.

I mean in reality most initial attraction especially on a dating app is going to be because of superficial often uncontrollable characteristics. Western women aren't swiping right on a 6'4" jacked white guy with a full hairline because of his intriguing personality. Yet we would rarely accuse women who swipe right on someone like that of having a "muscle fetish" or "height fetish."

Nerdy STEM guys don't really make enough to attract gold diggers unless they're like a senior SWE at FAANG. Gold diggers want someone making >$400k or with >$10M in assets. Not some nerdy loser making $90k working 50 hours weeks.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/23 01:57 AM

Pretty much this. Every guy making $90-120k working some loser 50 hour a week/2 week vacation salaried job thinks they're hot shit. Big whoop bartenders in my city make around that much with no student loans. It takes around $400k income or $10M in assets to make a difference in the dating market.

I think there are two types of men who look abroad for relationships. There's the loser, by western standards, late 20s to late 30s guy. He has a decent salaried job, but he's some combination of short, balding, has a bland personality, bland interests, isn't rich, non-white, etc. He probably has a healthy BMI and maybe gets a healthy amount of exercise, but he isn't hitting the gym 5 times a week and doing heavy lifting so he has a slight (by Instagram/tinder/Tik Tok standards) physique. A guy …

You don't have to be a trust fund kid to go to the Phillipines or Thailand lol. Not saying it's easy to save up a few thousand for plant tickets and a couple months at a cheap hotel, but most able bodied men in the US should be able to do it.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/01/23 05:43 PM

I guess 30 is a little young to be bald but man that's still harsh. I wonder if she saw who the more attractive women in her group were pulling and thought she should be able to do the same. Sucks for the guy. I doubt the marriage will last.

I'd say there's not a ton of difference between the two. The STEM major will probably have a better starting salary, but they'll both be in senior management or own their own businesses in 10-15 years. A VP with a STEM degree makes the same as a VP with a Communications degree.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/12/22 05:50 AM

That really depends on the person. It's a lot easier to get a mediocre 60 hour a week salaried job with a STEM degree, but a Liberal Arts degree with strong social/networking skills will out-earn a STEM major any day.

Shame on me for not reading your whole post. If you're making over $1M a year and are having trouble dating, even in NYC, you're doing something wrong. Look into hiring a professional matchmaker or dating coach. They can help you determine what exactly is turning women off.

I think a lot of people, particularly men ages 25-35ish, really overestimate how high status their job is. Of the jobs you mentioned, only certain subsets of them are high status (big law attorney, specialty doctor, successful businessman). No one cares about a lawyer at some law firm no one has heard of making $70k a year or a PCP making $160k a year with $300k in student loans. Lots of guys with salaried jobs working 50 hours a week making $85k-100k act like they're top 1% or something. In rea…

It sounds like you have a good physique, but your league is determined by who is willing to date/fuck you. If no woman who's not overweight or obese has shown interest in you for your entire 20s then your league is overweight and obese women. There's something else that's turning off more conventionally desirable women. You only describe your physique, so it could be that you have a bland/boring personality, come off as anxious in conversations, are a less undesirable race, or aren't wealthy eno…

Looking at actors isn't super relevant. They have access to professional makeup artists, plastic surgery, personal trainers, and typically already have top 1% genetics. That's like guys who think they're going to look like Leonardo DiCaprio when they hit 35. In reality most of us will be visibly balding, slightly overweight, have at least some grey hair (if any hair at all), and have some noticeable wrinkling. Yeah there are exceptions, but they're just that. Exceptions. Most men and women look …

On dating apps, out of the few likes I get, 90% are from women way below my league Sorry bud but I think you're overestimating your league here.

At 30 it kind of is. Yeah if he was 23, fresh out of college, and saving up for a down payment on a house maybe it would be okay. A 30yo is expected to be settled into a career that pays enough to be able to live alone with VERY few exceptions. A 30yo who hasn't done that yet is going to be at a serious disadvantage.
