I'm not even talking about his point, it's the unnecessary macho pretending that is embarrassing.

No one lifting for health / looks / functionality is going to lift like R.Coleman. You're right, that was a poor example. In any case, lifting heavy weights is harder on your joints than lifting lighter weights. Drawing the line at 1-5/5-30 is stupid. Bodymechanically speaking, lifting something 5 times is VERY different than lifting it 30 times and encompasses different physiological processes, breathing patterns, kinetic linking, etc. No shit chief, they are rep ranges for a reason. It's a lot…

since you are not even literate enough to read your own study. Also, you seemed rather fond of annecdotes, when you mentioned R.C. Ironic you say this when you can't even distinguish between users on reddit. I was the one that mentioned Ronnie Coleman, not the person you just replied to with this comment.

My knowledge is not outdated or incomplete. Lifting heavy weights is naturally more injury prone than lifting lighter weights. A good example of someone who lifted heavy fucking weights all his life and is paying for it is Ronnie Coleman. I guess we need to distinguish just how much volume we're talking about here before it becomes detrimental to one's bone structure and connective tissue though, because it is makes sense to lift weights as long as you can in your life as it helps retain muscle …

The human body is not made for repititious movement. Any kind of excessive repitition over long periods of time (years, decades) will detoriate joints and mobility. You are way better off in lifting heavy with low volume, which helps with bone strength and builds muscle and then use the remaining time for working on movement and mobility to become functionally strong. This is kind of incorrect. Lifting heavy makes you more prone to injury. Lighter weights at higher repetitions and higher volumes…

You can definitely make hypertrophy gains doing bodyweight exercises but you're going not making substantial strength gains doing bodyweight exercises as you need to lift heavier weights in order to get stronger.

We were on the topic of SFR though which is quite directly tied into volume landmarks. There are also plenty of volume landmarks - MV, MEV, MAV, MRV. MV and MEV for most people are in the 0-10 sets/week range and when you get outside of that range, you can quickly become fatigued, especially newer trainees. Like you said, 5 sets of sumo squats or sumo deadlifts on their own aren't fatiguing most people, and most people don't program properly/optimally, I was just nitpicking at the idea that SFR …

I do not mean to patronize, but I feel like a lot of this reply that is irrelevant to what my point was. If 135lbs @ 4x8-12 is within the 30-85% 1RM range (which is the range at which muscle hypertrophy can occur) and it takes you close to failure, then you're fine. But that said, you still need to be progressively getting stronger through your mesocycle(s). In any case, there is merit to all kinds of different training regimes, it just depends on your goals. But if you've got a weak foundation,…

But a weak foundation wouldn't allow for enough weight to be lifted to induce growth. Not even remotely true. As long as you push your muscles close to failure (which can be achieve in a plethora of ways), your muscles will grow.

I agree that 5 sets of sumo squats isn't going to do shit to most people that have trained consistently for more than like 2 weeks but volume landmarks are not only relevant for highly advanced trainees at all. Every single person has a maximum amount of volume they can do in any given week before systemic fatigue becomes a limiting factor.

Like I said, there is overlap. Perhaps calling them "fundamentally different" was a bit hasty - progressive overload is still a training principal of strength training. There is a correlation between strength and muscle size. My point is that you absolutely can be strong without being big. Training for strength and training for hypertrophy are done in different loading and volume ranges. Most people that train in general don't do it optimally. Pro bodybuilders and the guys that win Olympia are s…

I only skimmed but a good chunk of it is scientifically sound, which is rare for this sub. Where are you seeing his comment about deadlifting? At the bottom? There's also a difference between training for strength gains and training for hypertrophy. There is some overlap but they are fundamentally different training methods for the most part.

I agree. Take the basics and what resonates with you and go from there. Not everything here needs to be taken as gospel.

My man, you're 17. While I understand female attention is nice and you'd like to have sex, you're going to go to college and there will be plenty of pussy and partying. Focus on yourself and your school because your future is going to matter a lot more than your highschool days. Read some books, eat well, lift weights or do some form of exercise. And all that social media shit is fake and garbage for your brain. Don't get hung up on follower count. Or anything social media related for that matte…

For street fights probably something like BJJ would be good. Lots of street fights go to the ground. Krav Maga is very situational. Can't hurt to try something you are interested in in any case. If you don't like it or it's not what you were looking for, do something else.

Actually there is a pretty good chance they were common law. I'm from Ontario and it doesn't take much to become common law. You can become common law even if you stay together intermittently. They lived together in a cottage for parts of the summer and vacationed in Florida together during the winter. In a 14 year relationship, they probably accumulated time together to equal cohabitation for 3 years.

That's why he says "to think". He isn't saying that it for sure happened. But in any case, what do you gain or hope to accomplish by nitpicking at something so trivial? The dude lost his father, don't be an idiot

Mate, with all due respect, you need to reread that comment a little more carefully. I think you're misunderstanding. He says "the nurses we spoke to on the phone were terse and almost rude...to think this is how my father was treated in his final hours is fucking infuriating. I want to lash out at the system for enabling this type of behaviour".

He didn't claim it was the nurses' fault. You're an asshole

Yeah the bit about that and cumming when he tells her to, on command no less. Seems a little silly, which is a shame cause the rest of it doesn’t seem too outlandish. Not sure though, maybe it’s possible lol.

Amidst all this, anything a woman gains in technical skill from her sexual experiences can easily become irrelevant. Besides, a skilled man can always train a willing woman (go to mrp and see that latest post), leaving her free to concentrate on the seduction part of her game. Which post are you referring to here?

I can't tell if you're being facetious. I'm pretty sure you are, but narcissists and sociopaths have massive egos.
