I blush and get embarrassed at the sort of women who smile and approach me when I travel outside the U.S. - I feel like 'oh, are they going to sell me something? Scam me?' then I calm down and remember that I left the land of Taco Bell.

This is the absolute truth. Have experienced it myself. I actually kind of got mad by how well I was treated. Like 'It could have been this way the WHOLE TIME?!'. Years wasted on people devaluing me in the States, and me refusing to believe that racism was alive and well in this country. Not just Europe, either - any place outside of Asia, essentially. Panama was a blast. Not to mention the majority of places turn my top 10% income into top 2% just by showing up.

Being hot doesn't mean you are successful. 'yoga instructor' can mean 'healthy, fit, motivated person dedicated to a successful career of empowering and encouraging other humans' or it can be like my cousin where it means 'workout with friends 3 times a week for drinking money and live off child support of 4 different baby daddies' Pretty? Sure. Marriage material? Up for debate. While I think she's a great as a human, I am not inclined to date my cousin.

They're more likely to be kind. An average man gets treated like a sack of shit, day in, day out. Like they have to fight for the very right to breath air, or exist. Noone is walking up to you and giving you compliments, telling you how great/right you are - it's a constant emotional struggle, and nothing is for free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O75sGhFcLbE Making a man happy requires absolutely so fucking little, it's laughable.

It's not WHY they go for it. It's all they can. They'd fuck both if they could. Or a wet stack of paper towels. Or a sheep. Lots of sheep. I am really quite tired of the idea that men are doing what they do because it's what they WANT to do, and it's really just indicative of the entitlement that's out there on the other side. It's a willful failure of reasoning. You wouldn't see someone driving a beat up '88 civic with the bumper hanging off and be like 'geez, idk why men are suddenly into clas…

You have not been to actually impoverished areas. "Poor" in America just means stupid and low class, and eats at McDonalds all day, every day. "Poor" in some countries means today-I-lost-the-fight-for-my-place-in-line-at-the-bread-line-time-to-tighten-the-belt and so, no obesity -shrug-

It's eye-opening, isn't it? Intellectual conversations with people who freak out if they're a few kilos over their 'ideal' weight, and go back to salads for a month. Feels like sci-fi, coming from the US.

This I'll remember for any time a woman has a negative comment about an American man - 'The South Africans are waiting'

Oh yeah, totally true - there is zero demand for white American men anywhere in the planet, yes, thank you for disabusing me of this falsehood.

'nice parts of the city' lololol, that made me giggle. There is no place in Europe where you can't be in an urban center within an hour or so. On I-66, I see signs stating 'last gas for 350 miles' when I'm passing the outskirts of El Paso. Meanwhile, the UK is 300 miles at its widest point. I want you to imagine Aylesbury, but as the size of an entire fucking continent, and there you have some stretches of America. Context, my friend, context.

Are you saying there are not white knights on the internet? Careful now - you'll either have to admit that there are American women being overrated, or , say that no American man ever unnecessarily rises to the defense of women that are perfectly capable of handling themselves : o

This just shows how unbelievably terrible American women are. Your comment suggests you can't comprehend women treating men poorly for no reason, because why would any sane person act that way? You think "Oh, they must be losers; that is why they are complaining". Oh no honey. You can make $250,000 / yr, be > 6ft, well educated, take them out, take them on trips, meet their family, be kind and involved with their kids (if they are a single mother), stand up for them, fight for them, support them…

Some of this is just kind of skewed, though. Doing post-doc things has some other baggage. Usually? Poor. Paying for it, spending time on it instead of working a more lucrative job - generally academic fields. Interesting? Okay. But you're gonna be buying the dinner for Dr. Environmental Paleo-Botanist. Next? Arrogance. Intelligent people are arrogant, nearly always. Just is a thing. Entitled, too - 'I'm a fucking Dr.!" - even if they are too demur to admit it to you or themselves, they will res…

It's also location-based. I moved from DC to CA and can never stop being surprised at how many mid-20 somethings want to date me (mid 30s) and more. I see it all the time, the kind of 'age is just a number' mentality. Hypergamy led to sugaring led to a kind of coding that old wasn't bad, but actually sexy. A kind of smouldering antonio banderas/ diego luna thing, to be sought after.

I've had this happen to me a few times as well, and it's so turned me off of women in general. One time sticks out in particular, where a women came up to see me for drinks, and later told me she resented sleeping with me 'because I got her drunk' (she paid) even though when I was asking her if she was sure, she wiggles her ass at me and says "I didn't come here wearing these panties because lace is comfortable" Baffling, and depressing. I'm sure I've met faithful, solid, wonderful women, but th…

I literally watched one of my friends do this. Guy took her to Paris and proposed, even though she's average, 2 kids, and a documented history of mental illness, and he only makes 65k a year. There's always someone out there thirsty enough.

You're in for a big surprise if you think someone like that is after commitment. Oscar for taking care of the kids, tatted fuccboi for fun.

Thanks, you don't 'manage' someone like that, like anything one man can say will outweigh 500,000 randoms saying whatever they can to get their turn on the bike.

I don't know man, using the opposite sex as a milestone for success? I see nothing about accomplishments or intellectual pursuits, friendship, anything. I agree with some of the other posters here - horror story.

I've only had women treat me like this in big cities. They want to be uncommitted, but freak out if I say 'okay' and happen to mention another date. I think they want to envision themselves as some kind of star of the show, where side characters (me) stay in perfect stasis until they're required for their story. This is just -some- women though, and I saw it very rarely in middle america, or more rural places on the coast. I think it's just an artifact of having anything over half a million peop…
