You don't even need to gradually move away though. You can go no contact. It's fine to cut ties. To do it without telling the other person you're doing so shows how little you valued or respected them or the friendship. You can literally send a text saying "Things with us aren't good for me so I'm gonna need to walk away and get space." and then block them.

In another comment here I said that in close platonic friendships feelings can happen and sometimes that will be the end of the friendship. It's in how you deal with and communicate that. Ghosting is a dick way to do it. I know men know their stuff

My best friend and I maintained a 20 year friendship that was INCREDIBLE. We were mind blowingly close and eerily in sync. There was a phenomenal amount of love between us. The friendship existed when either or both of us were in relationships with others. There was an occasion for each of us where we developed romantic feelings but after talking it out realised we didn't want to risk the friendship we have. It felt sucky at the time but you get over it. I took a little time and distance (We tal…

If a man can ditch a friendship because his friend isn't romantically interested in them then they aren't any kind of decent friend - they don't value her as a friend. Not sure how that is hard to understand. Maintaining a platonic relationship under the guise of trying to turn it into something more then ditching the proverbial horse and cart when you don't get your way AND ghosting? That's just being an asshole.

No we aren't. Are some women bitches who say horrible things about men? Sure. Will other bitchy women encourage them? Sure. They are not the majority. It's not ok to be horrible or talk badly about anyone or be cruel, it goes against basic decency. It's ok if the woman you went on a date with are not your type and you're not attracted to them. It's not ok to be an asshole about it. That's the point of difference people want to gloss over. We aren't going to be attracted to everyone we meet, that…

Hahahaha this. I can't with this sub today.

Yes. I had to do all the running around and filing for mine and chase my ex up about it. I was not the one that asked for the divorce. In hindsight he was punishing me and making a point about how checked out he was. I STILL don't have the mf'ing divorce because he has the last document we need for it and won't provide it, holding out so I have to pay all the money and do the necessary leg work to get a new one and get it certified and witnessed. It's exhausting giving the man what he wants with…

Are you generalising all women in the dating pool? You can want to have sex with someone or want to enjoy sex and be mature enough not to because you're in the market for a quality relationship and not just an orgasm. 🙄

You say you never want to get to sex sooner but 3 dates is soon, you hardly know someone properly after 3 dates. If there is attraction on both sides and she has made it clear she is very interested and is making effort to get to know you properly why wouldn't you allow her more time to do that?

Plenty of women have standards and don't just want to jump into bed with every guy she's dating. I wouldn't sleep with someone until I have taken time to get to know him properly, see if we actually align as people and have the same goals and desires and that he is relationship material. I'm not engaging in physical intimacy with just any Michael Maybe. I can be very attracted to someone physically from the start but they may not be a good match for me otherwise so why would I have sex with him?…

A man who can't give a woman time to REALLY get to know him, see what he's about and determine if he is relationship material before giving him access to her body is not high value. His priority is sex and not her as a complete, potential partner.

I want my fiance to do what makes him happy and find that path to happiness. I will support him in that and do everything I can to help him achieve his goals. I'm not going to sit around and tell him he needs to do X or Y because some silly societal standard says so. Those things aren't going to make me happier because I am happy with who he already is. He's got a plan and goals and he is moving towards them and I couldn't be prouder. Minimum wage where we live is a liveable wage and plenty of a…

WE DON'T!!! I've dated freakishly tall guys, short guys, skinny guys, big guys, in between guys. It's about the spark and we get the spark from lots of different things about a man. The very best date I ever went on was to a board game store where my now fiance and I had the most incredible debate about Warhammer Fantasy vs Warhammer 40k which escalated into absolute hilarity and an entire day together. At the end of it I literally "I don't think I have ever enjoyed myself more on a date and if …

This is well put. Where I see the massive chasm of disconnect is there seems to be only black and white. Generalisations. I use myself as an example sometimes - my fiance was on the brink of going down the RP path about the time we met. I get it. He is a short (5'6, I'm 6'0), skinny, socially awkward nerd who works minimum wage in a kitchen. That's how the world sees him. I saw a man who is always polite and kind, who listens, who has the most incredible sense of humour I've ever come across, wh…

And they wonder why nobody will date them. If I went on a date with someone with a personality like this my vagina would shrivel up so damn fast. It's like we're not even human beings

Close! SOME lonely people are entitled and horrid but absolutely not all by any stretch. My fiance and I used to be those lonely types and definitely weren't like that.

300000000% yes! My fiance works hard and gives his all at everything he sets his mind to. I have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for that and make a genuine effort to tell him every day that I am proud of him and everything he does. I know not everyone is like this, it is something I personally find important in a relationship - appreciating, uplifting and nurturing. When we first started dating he was very awkward and didn't have a lot of self-confidence but with the right suppo…

You make a lot of assumptions for someone who doesn't know me. My best friend was in a relationship with the most vile, abusive woman I've ever met. The way she entrapped him, used him up and then spat him out homeless and bankrupt while continuing to push him until he took his own life... Why would I not hold her accountable and instead blame him? That is the definition of idiotic (I'm an advocate for male victims of domestic violence since I lost him). You keep going back to sweeping generalis…

It's not about being manipulative or tricking. It's just about being a decent human being and not generalising everyone. Goes for all genders, I know some women that absolutely fall under the incel umbrella and they have the same bad attitudes and behaviour. The reason abusers get relationships and marriage is because of factors like charm and charisma, because they are good at playing games and engaging in behaviour that is designed to manipulate without the person knowing they are being manipu…

See, you would rather assume I'm lying than admit you may be off point with your assumptions. Abusers and rapists are very manipulative. You know they don't go up to women and go "Hi, I'm Robbie Rapist. Would you Iike to go out sometime?" right? Are some abusers walking red flags? Sure. There are also women who are stupid enough to think these men will change because love. This is not all women.

It absolutely does matter. I know a few 'lonely autistic incels' and they don't get dates because they are bitter and entitled (obviously this is not true of everyone). Just because you think you have a good personality and a nice guy doesn't make it so. I chose my fiance based on 3 factors: he has beautiful eyes, he has a great personality and an even greater sense of humour. That's it. Everything else was completely irrelevant to me. It's rather interesting how people sit on the internet and t…
