1	How can I transition from the opener to talking about something else, like a couple of interesting stories that I have? ask her about her life. Questions about her studies/ambitions/hobbies/travel tend to do well. Don't make in an interrogation though. Relate to her and tie your stories to that. 1	I had a bad experience today. Should I be direct with girls about my intention? Never hide the banana. To me it seems you were trying to fumble your way next to them and so getting close to them. Women pick up on things like this and it doesn't make you come across as confident. Everyone asks themselves whenever a random person strikes up a conversation: "what does he/she want?" Confindence is key. Being straight forwards would be more like "Hey, I just saw you two girls sitting there and I just could not resist the urge to come over and say hi!
