Careful with this... Not sure where you (OP) are or whether this varies by state, but if you have a residence together and shit goes down, sometimes whoever leaves first may not be allowed back. Long story short: in Maine, mother and step father own a condo, huge nasty fight. I go over and get her to leave with me (after threatening to beat him with a tire iron) and, because she left voluntarily, she wasn't allowed back.

Upvoted because I can't help ya, but I'll be back to see the suggestions when they come in!

Not sure I understand the question. I equate in state with feeling confident. So yes I like being/ feeling confident. Or are you asking if I like the transition of going into state from not being in state? If that's the question, that's exactly what I'm trying to get to the bottom of: if the confidence slips away, how can you help to get back? If there was a sure fire way of getting back in, then Yes I'd like the transition!

Don't listen to him. The terminology can be silly but almost everyone here does it. Congrats on making positive changes in your life. It sounds like you're pretty busy but, if possible, if you're at work and making a plan for coffee (or anything else), try to get that to happen right now, like right after your shift instead of planning it for another day. Just a thought. Either way keep it up, your first step was realizing you needed to make changes and seeking advice/help. You're past step one …

As an extension of this, assuming I am still with my girlfriend in a few weeks when I'll be at a party that will be ALL her friends and no one I have met before, I'd say I should do the same, yes? And probably try to hang out with her the least as someone else mentioned in another thread.

There's been plenty of sex and it's been good, but I do fear she has been the one to initiate some of the funner stuff we've done in that area. I need to be more assertive there. If things are not 100% in the toilet this weekend I plan to be more direct and adventurous about what I want. And that statement applies to all situations not just the sex.

I know there's probably a lot of info on that out there, but parroting is basically when you take the last thing said and either say close to the same thing to simply encourage conversation, or turn that last thing into a question, right?

Thanks, I did think of this after but had a lot if trouble validating my email address so I couldn't post there up until a little while ago. I'll post there soon

It's a vicious cycle of doubt that I believe always cursed me early in in relationships. I constantly wonder if things are cool between us but obviously I don't ask because that's too needy. And then my mind just goes crazy thinking every little thing is a sign that she's losing interest. I guess it really is just confidence and "inner game" I need to work on.

Post doesn't seem to be showing up in New, hoping a comment prompts this(?)

That's exactly what I fear. And I suppose the answer is: don't force anything. Just be confident.

While I appreciate (almost) any feedback this is not only not very specific, but a bit brutish considering my situation. I already have her, and we're actually going away for the weekend. I just don't want any newfound or newly obvious confidence to be too obvious. But seriously, thanks for at least taking a moment!

I agree with puaCurveBall. There's a reason there's so much material on how men can pursue woman yet not as much for the opposite. VERY few women take the role of the pursuer. And if they do ever, it's very likely because she's already "gamed" some by a male. Cool, maybe you're better looking than your buddy. ESPECIALLY if that's true, he's doing something you're not. if you pay closer attention he could teach you something , really.

Sorry, but I think you're way too caught up in the "game" aspect. From your description you don't seem to have any problems closing. Asking for advice on how to deny a pickup attempt and jeopardize your job seems pretty dumb.

Thanks. Another funny thing about the info here is a lot of it becomes obvious suddenly after you read it! Case in point: I like the advice about focusing on others aside from my girlfriend. Makes a lot of sense in terms of showing her I don't need her as a social crutch even when she is the only connection to all these other people.

Enough for now I'd say. First, keep in mind too that I'm pretty new to this and also here asking for help. Moving on. I gotta say, this "I completely lost control" and the fact that you had to apologize leaves me wanting to hear even more. However, from this small story you gave it sounds to me that the best thing would be to leave her alone in terms of any attempt to mend further or become more than friends again. You probably need to back off a bit and give some space if things went that badly…

I'm a lot older and disagree with these guys that seem to be be so anti-text. This is a harmless question. Basically anything playful like all of the funny suggestions that have been made would be good. Christ, it's 2012 and texting provides a good quick way of communicating intermittently without having to commit to a long phone call.

Hey, reposting a question that didn't get answered last time, plus another post that has gone response-less. Thanks for whatever advice you can give. I'm here because I realized being more confident/interesting/interested in general is what's most important. Any specific advice for someone that's already IN a relationship? I definitely started to see signs that she was looking at me as too beta, and I've made strides to change that. Any tips appreciated. Same relationship (obviously!): I'll be m…

This is approach anxiety talking. Now, granted, if a girl walks by and doesn't even notice you, don't suddenly start talking to her. Although you may reach the point where you can be successful even in that, start with something easier. Catch her with a smile first. If you get that, start right in "Hey I'm looking for XYZ coffee shop, do you know where it is?" Invite her along. Something like that. It's all possible. And even if that doesn't work 5 times, that 6th time will be easier.

Sorry dude, but this is ridiculous. Instead of having you pretend to be him, how about telling the truth? He can text her from your phone and tell her it's him? I'm no rocket surgeon but this is all you need to do.

I have absolutely thought of this. I was over zealous last night. My only real goal is to be more outgoing and engaging. No more trying to close in any way.

Similar to my story from last night. The fun for me was knowing I was charming the pants off of two girls. Ha ha, unfortunately not literally, but you follow.

I'm pretty new to all this but your tip seems wrong to me. Just saying nice hair is pretty general and, and it IS about you. Saying "I like your hair" shows intent, shows interest.

I'm a total newbie, but this one's pretty easy honestly. "hey, let's go hang out sometime" is the wrong approach. Next time she initiates with you (DUDE, SHE IS INITIATING!), keep it going for a bit, and say "When are we going to go out for a drink?" or "I'm going out for a drink after work, are you coming with me?" Be more direct - that way you'll get your answer. On the flip side - "don't shit where you eat" meaning: lots of people here think you shouldn't try to date or game girls you work wi…

New here a week and the life advice has been great. I think just the overall confidence boost will do wonders. But I already have a girlfriend. I am here to be sure I keep her. Again, I think the confidence in general will help. Any specific advice on showing a current girlfriend my value?

I can agree more with what you're saying. I'm just saying that rejection need not be so painful because that person doesn't know you very well. That's pretty much it. They're not making some grand judgment about you as a person, but a fairly uninformed decision. Fine. Throwaway seems to be saying that a rejection, or any other 'moment' should be savored, because you're alive and Yay! everyone moment is the same. I disagree with that. Some moments are better than others and we can only control ho…

I disagree. While many moments can at very least be a learning experience or simply an experience, that does not mean everything is always a-ok and bells and whistles. Sometimes things suck and you deal with those things, but you can't live every moment as if you already have the benefit if hindsight.
