You mean subjectively? I’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately, and I’ve realized just how friggin expensive everything would be if I had a kid. And how much less stuff I’d be able to do. I’m going to Japan soon. I wanna visit all the live hotels, eat anything I want, and stay out as late as I want and be intimate with my boyfriend. Throw a kid into that mix? No more love hotels, can’t stay out as late because someone has to watch the kid, usually can’t just eat whatever you want because some …

I’ll be the first to admit: In my relationship I’m the planner and my boyfriend is the “go with the flow” guy. When we planned our last trip to see each other he helped with a lot of the planning—hotels, travel info, etc. The only difference was, I was the one looking up every possible food place, attraction, hike, cultural site, etc. while he spent most of the trip helping to point out places I didn’t notice in my initial planning. Because of the mix of our combined planning styles we had an aw…

I’m currently in a relationship—have been in it since I graduated high school—and I haven’t actually had experience with casual sex. Thing is though, I don’t really want to. When I have sex with my current partner I’m always 1000% satisfied at the end of every intimate engagement. I wouldn’t enjoy going through what most casuals seem to echo, which is that women are most often left unsatisfied. But like everyone else in this comment thread, I don’t care what others do, so long as they’re not har…

Considering I’ve had men think it was okay to hoot and holler at me as a 10-12 year old. Or that a close male friend of mine has tried to take advantage of me. I’ve been lucky enough in my life to not be a victim of rape. But it doesn’t dispel the anxiety that comes with potentially being one. Does that mean I outwardly walk faster when a man walks behind me? Does that mean I avoid eye contact or conversation with male strangers? Of course not! I’m still going to be polite to them and treat them…

Hell yeah! I tend to vary in my femininity as well! I’m very much my fathers daughter, so from a somewhat young age I was helping out with yard work, building our patio, he taught me somewhat how to drive, and I’ve been brought up knowing various combat techniques. But, I am still very much a passenger princess and I love to be spoiled with stuffed animals and desserts. Beauty of feminine and masculinity, it’s a spectrum, not a yes or no.

Hell I have a boyfriend who is probably what the men in this subreddit would consider a masculine man. If I want to do a cosplay thing with him, he will rock a maid outfit and heels any day. He’s even asked me to do his makeup and nails for him. Gender norms on clothing are always going to be ingrained in the fabric of society, but the idea that any major who goes against the grain is automatically effeminate is an awful take. Men can be masculine and pretty at the same time. Doesn’t make them l…

Then you clearly didn’t read the rest of my post. Placing the expectation on women to be available for all of men’s emotional turmoil just pushes them away. It appears the people in this subreddit don’t understand the difference between being a shoulder to cry on and being a therapist.

If you want a clear line I can come up with a few: —PTSD: I know people who have it. And they have always felt safe enough to come talk to me or to call me in the middle of the night when they need someone to speak to. It’s rough. But the calls only happen every so often and I’m okay enough mentally to offer that support to them. I would not be able to spare multiple nights a week helping them and I would certainly need a break hearing about their trauma if they were talking about it even on a w…

Except there’s a clear difference between the two. I love when my boyfriend is vulnerable around me. I love when he shares how he truly feels. But if every single day he would be crying to me, I’d recommend him to a therapist and we could go together if he needed that. We are all humans. I’d do the same and actually have done the same for my female friends. There is only so much a single person can take when it comes to being a confidant. Hell, my last gal pal had it so bad and she was constantl…

Funny enough language is allowed to be interpreted as we please. You may not agree with my definition, but so long as I am not using it in the context of a legal or medical discussion I am free to use language as fluidly as I like. Take for instance the word “cap”. For decades it meant a hat. Nowadays it also means “no way” or that other person is lying. I’m sorry that you got your panties in a twist over my use of the English language. Maybe therapy might help with that:)

To me personally compromise means that my partner and I have discussed something and we’ve come to a mutual agreement about it. Settle means that my partner and I had a disagreement, couldn’t come to an agreement but the argument or discussion is over nonetheless. Luckily in my case my partner and I haven’t had anything we disagree on, and we’ve certainly had a few compromises here and there, but nothing the both of us weren’t happy with. I think the term settle is the kind of word some people u…

I’ve only see posts regarding age gaps being looked down upon by the majority when it’s a man who is 23/24+ trying to date an 18/19 year old. That’s usually an issue with different life stages. A 25 year old woman who completed her bachelors would likely have already been working and financially stable for about 2 years or she’s working on another degree. The biggest issue with age gaps is life stages not the years. A 30 year old man should not be trying to go for a barely college freshman. But …

Why is this the automatic assumption for women? I nearly screamed out of pure joy when my boyfriend and I went shopping in Korea and he found me the perfect ring for, I think it came out to 7USD? I wear that ring every day, everywhere I go. Surprisingly it was the only ring to fit me, so I love thinking of it as my own little Cinderella story. If men want to buy their wives/girlfriends jewelry to show their affection that’s on them. If it’s expected by anyone to purchase a 5k+ ring just to be ma…

I wear makeup for one of three reasons: I like to look at myself in the mirror after I bedazzle myself. It’s fun to just do myself up for me and put on a mini fashion show for myself. It makes me feel beautiful! I have red spots or some other blemish on my face that’s standing out too much. I normally don’t wear makeup, but I also really don’t want anyone staring too intently at my face trying to figure out what the blemish is. It’s very awkward for me. I wear it for my boyfriend. Sometimes, I w…

Flashlight yes—in fact I encourage it!—but no to the sex doll. I have seen how expensive they can get. Paying 30-50 for a flashlight is not the same as paying upwards of 500 for a sex doll(most range in the 1000s though which is worse) I just don’t see it as a sound investment—at least not at my age where people really shouldn’t be so downtrodden by a lack of sex that they resort to making hasty financial decisions like buying a sex doll.

I desperately wish I had an off switch for my ovaries. I only have one sexual partner(my current partner)but Christ almighty the fear of getting pregnant is awful. Considering I have no STIs/STDs there’s zero risk for him. If he forgets to use his birth control he won’t get pregnant. I fortunately use multiple forms of BC but the fear of pregnancy is instilled so deep I was freaking out over it when I was still a Virgin. I’d love to just shut down my ovaries until I feel like having kids. That w…

Marriage is a lifelong* commitment. *Except in cases of domestic abuse, consistent dissatisfaction/disappointment(partner doesn’t hold job, doesn’t please sexually, has zero interest in being romantic, etc.)and changes in values(Example: both partners marry under the impression neither wants kids and 10 years down the line one person wants kids) Marriage is a lifelong commitment as long as both parties continue to share the same values throughout and/or discuss any major changes with their partn…

Even while dating my policy is usually to go Dutch. I’m not a person who feels good having others pay for her. It doesn’t matter how vehemently they insist on it I always feel like I need to pay them back somehow. I’ve never gone through the process of dating necessarily(I define dating as meeting multiple people for the purposes of finding a partner)but even amongst friends and even early on in my relationship we split the bill. Nowadays since my partner and I are more established we go based o…

Where on earth is this coming from? My boyfriend and I pay based on equity not equality. He makes more than I do at present, so for instance when we vacation together I’ll pay for our meals and he pays for our activities and the hotel. Relationships are hard to balance equally if either partner is making more or less than the other. I’ve told him time and time again, once I finish my degrees and graduate I’ll start paying a lot more towards our dates and vacations. For the time being though he’s…

My issue in my other relationships was always that I gave too much, but I can’t help that I love making my partners happy. I’m just happy that I have someone who reciprocates the same level of love and affection for me that I have for them. I don’t know if you’re with someone, but if not I hope you do find someone who can give you what you like!

I love doing this for my boyfriend! He has such soft, beautiful hair that I can’t help running my fingers through it. In my case he will brush my hair, put a hair accessory in for me, and/or braid it for me. I can always brush my own hair, but there’s something immensely soothing about him brushing my hair for me.

In my relationship currently I’m the planner and organizer and my boyfriend is the go with the flow guy. He planned our first date—but I technically initiated by very clearly and blatantly flirting with him, sending him saucy pictures of myself, etc. Nowadays, I enjoy our dynamic. If we’re walking down the street he’s the one who points out interesting places to go and I’m usually the one who plans ahead when we go to certain areas and looks up interesting places to see ahead of time. My grandparents did and still do love each other, but it was different for them. My grandma had a rough life to begin with, but she never married my grandpa for financial security, safety, or any other reason. She married him out of love. My grandpa was also doing well himself. They live a wonderful life now, they’re not poor or rich. They have a garden of amazing herbs, fruits, and vegetables. They go to church together and do a lot of outdoor activities together. They just love one another. An…

Same here! I well and truly believe that every partner I’ve had I’ve never settled for, I truly wanted to be with them. My current partner though, he’s the best I’ll ever have. He stimulates me intellectually, makes me laugh, and while he has a dominant personality he never steps on my toes. I’ve never understood the idea of settling for a partner, because every partner ive had had wonderful qualities that made me like them.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/23 04:29 PM

This right here. There is no perfect human, but there are people we partner with who we consider perfect for us. My partner most definitely has flaws and I definitely have quite a few myself, but we love each other. This whole beta bux thing of people settling for people is just mind gaming people into thinking they’ll never be up to par with the high standards set by these male-dominated communities. When in reality, relationships are about recognizing what you love in a person and if they have…

I’ve realized in my short life—having taken part in raising two of my siblings from infancy—that I would much rather pick up dog poop or shovel horse poop than change a human diaper. I well and truly doubt I’ll ever have children given how grossed out I am by them—mainly in terms of raising them myself, I can handle a cool Aunt role and babysit for an afternoon.

It’s quite easy actually. While I currently am in a relationship and wouldn’t give up anything for it, were I single right now and owned a horse I wouldn’t give a rats ass about relationships. If I have friends and family, a good dog/cat/horse can easily take the place of a partner. For almost 4 years horses worked just fine for me since I still had platonic relationships. Animals don’t work for a complete substitute for humans but if I had to choose between a meh person and good animal I’d pick…

In the scenario of abuse or clear manipulation, I think hiding your assets for any party is okay. In the scenario of a loving relationship, I think personally I’d be a bit miffed if my partner didn’t trust me enough to say “Hey I have my own account with my own money” I could genuinely care less if my partner has their own savings, checking, emergency fund, etc. My partner is free to save money free of any obligation towards me. I think the hobby of video games is a lot like any hobby—take guns, cars, cosplay, makeup, clothing trends, etc. If you’re able to engage with your hobby healthily and in a way that doesn’t affect your relationships and your wellbeing then it’s just a hobby. It’s when it starts affecting your finances, affecting your relationships, etc. that it becomes an ick. My boyfriend currently plays for his university esports team. Since I moved back to the states on 3 separate occasions I’ve had guys offer me discounts or something extra with my food orders for free. They always put on a charming smile and seem to try to strike up a conversation. Im definitely not gorgeous or beautiful in a conventional way, so it’s mostly confusing to me when guys do stuff like that. In my current relationship(we’re both 20) I’m the one of the mindset that I want to marry. I want to marry him, settle, and travel the world while being able to return home together—we’re LDR. He knows right now that he wants me to be his endgame. We’ve discussed marriage, and in fairness to both of us, neither of us are quite ready. I’m currently on Nexplanon and Selynd. I started taking it just a week before I saw my boyfriend—the oral contraceptive not my Implant—and I mean we would be at it for hours every day for 3 weeks, so I guess it impacted my sex drive positively? I mean I know both ends of the spectrum in a sense. I’ve known two different attractive men, one who is no longer in my life because he was in fact an asshole and I recognized that. The other is my current boyfriend. He is not an asshole. I have been with him for 2 years. I do agree pretty privilege is a thing. The language you use makes you sound like one. From all the comments and your post you seem very insecure. The comments mentioning you just leave her if you can’t deal with her social media use make sense. Your job is not to change her ways. As a partner you are allowed to communicate your insecurities and you are allowed to express your concerns, but you do go into abusive and controlling territory when your aim is to “fix” someone who doesn’t need to be fixed. Again, feel free to talk to her a…

A really good friend of mine and I had a discussion on whether or not I was good to date this one guy—she had been close to him as friends but never expressed any interest in him. When we talked I asked her if she was 1000% sure I could pursue him romantically and she said “Oh no, I don’t care, he’s like a brother to me.” Only to a month later be getting fingered by him on my couch. It’s just been normalized in every marriage to use those vows. Me personally, for better or for worse and in sickness and in health means I’m there to support my partner, but at the expense of my own health and safety. If my partner suddenly became an abusive alcoholic or a drug addict, or spent all of our money in Vegas why should any promise I make supersede those actions? Marriage is a partnership. In a partnership you communicate with your partner and you don’t harm them—this includes but is…

There’s a difference between being disappointed sometimes and being disappointed all the time. I have been disappointed a few times over the course of my current relationship, but my boyfriend learns or we communicate about what happened and how to fix it going forward. I think the only person who fits the conventional Chad standards is my current boyfriend, out of everyone I’ve had a relationship with. The other ones I’ve been interested in or had relationships with were usually short, or chubby, or a bit of both, or didn’t really suit what the conventional Chad would be. I will say this: I’ve noticed women do sometimes refer to themselves as not being a man’s therapist when the expectation is to change the man—man is lazy because he was overworked as a child, man has no interest in helping with chores or going to work because some trauma or something is preventing him from doing so, man is constantly verbally abusive because of childhood trauma. Let me be clear, it is absolutely fine to enter a relationship when you’re still working on yourself. But again, from …

I mean, the whistling bullshit and shoe shoving I usually just took as my cue to go to the back and bullshit. The yelling is what sucks. It’s great that it works for you, but statistically it doesn’t. And again, it depends on when the age gap relationship takes place. In much older couples it doesn’t matter much. It matters in couples where the person has just becomes of level age or is in a state of their life where are more heavily reliant on another partner. That opens the gates to manipulation and abuse. I mean you won’t find me caterwauling on Twitter about age gap relationships, but I do think that there’s certainly reasons why they’re so frowned upon. Do I care if a 30 and 50 year old get together? Not really. Both at that point would have established careers, would generally be financially capable, and would have somewhat enough experience in life to make sound judgement. Here’s the thing, the definition of misogyny is “dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women.” Do you hate these women because they’re women? Or do you hate them for other reasons? I don’t think having the amount of hatred you do is healthy in any regard and you could speak to someone about it, but by definition no you are not a misogynist.

I don’t quite understand what you’re saying, would it not be good to have caretaker robots that can fulfill every need for a person? I don’t know anything about feminist podcasts, but mental health services would be great for robots of that capacity to have for people who are lashing out for multiple reasons. Was just a thought, probably won’t happen and if they were invented it would likely be extremely expensive and likely only be geared towards its namesake.

Honestly, don’t think sex bots are a bad idea for people. Though if they were going to have something of the sort it would be better to make them fully automated with the ability to care for people—in the event of disabilities/emergencies—and to be able to provide mental health services. Feel like a lot incels could use therapy. Even a relationship with your perfect significant other can have issues, but the point of being in a healthy relationship is that you can discuss them and fix them. My boyfriend and I personally have learned that our secret to maintaining a healthy relationship is that we are allowed to get angry and upset and cry. Then again, that sounds like a them issue. People like that should be seeking professional help. Being dishonest with people like that to say “Yeah no women aren’t sexual and they don’t like sex as much as men” still wouldn’t deter men like this. If people feel they need to resort to rape to achieve having sex, they won’t care whether women are sexual or celibate. In a way I like the manifesting trend happening lately. I know for a fact that if I don’t study for a test “manifesting” a good grade isn’t going to necessarily give me one. I just do it because it’s like a tiny ritual for my brain, if I think positively about a goal I hope to achieve I’m more likely to achieve—it doesn’t mean I don’t have to put the work towards making sure I do achieve what I want. In the same way I also like to “manifest” that I won’t get pregnant whenever I have sex with my …

I think a good lot of them do, not to say you aren’t correct. Some relationships do start out as sex and evolve into dating. My experience and the experiences of pretty much 80-90% of people I have met and been acquainted with are that we dated first and had sex after. It could also vary by region. You might have grown up or experience a lot of people who had sex before dating. I grew up with the opposite experience. Pretty sure a lot of the debates here revolve around experiences people had

Yes, happily dating before we had sex. Don’t think we had sex for over a year. We just wanted to date, get to know each other, be romantic. I loved every second of it. No pressure, no expectations, just us.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/09/22 08:35 PM

Anecdotally, I didn’t have sex with my boyfriend first before we started dating and fell in love. And neither did any of the people I consider friends. It always started as date first and have sex later. None of us are religious or practicing, none of us follow “no sex before marriage”. Just normal 20 somethings who decided a relationship was more than just sex. Sex is important, but it’s not the reason my relationship today is thriving.

They wouldn’t. Which is far from naivety speaking, it comes from a place of trust and a place of respect for each other. My guy friends know if I ever was desperate enough to go to them for a screw somethings severely wrong with me and wouldn’t take advantage of it. Like I’ve said before, I’m lucky to have great guy friends.

Anyone can look up crap on the internet and say they researched something. I agree that banning abortion would lead to women making access to sex more limiting. Think about it like this. I live in Texas, so I’ll take this state as an example. They’ve practically already banned abortion here, just with loopholes so that they’re not technically passing unlawful bills. In my current relationship I draw the line at all realistic porn. Hentai, cartoon, animated, etc. I could usually care less. Why? They have no realistic features. You look at other women/ men long enough in porn and start building subconscious expectations for future relationships. Okay, I don’t know how I can make this any clearer. Manipulation: Manipulation or emotional manipulation is the use of devious means to exploit, control, or otherwise influence others to one’s advantage. In the extreme it is a stratagem of tricksters, swindlers, and impostors who disrespect moral principles, deceive and take advantage of others’ frailty and gullibility. Of course everyone uses manipulation in their day to day. Again, it’s a matter of when and where you use it. If a woman decides against having sex she’s allowed to do so. Same way that a man is allowed to also decide he doesn’t want sex. What isn’t okay is basically using sex as a tool. Using it as “If you don’t give me what I want now then I don’t want you.” And before you start, I’m not saying it’s okay for ANYONE to do this. It’s wrong no matter what gender you are. All of this just sounds extremely manipulative. People are allowed to have boundaries on when they choose to have sex. But the way you’ve written is it that essentially if a woman leaves you sexually frustrates you’re no longer interested and will instead find another woman to vent your frustrations to. Im not saying being used. There’s a difference between realizing you want something else and really working to get it and just wanting a guy to be Plan B. Huge difference. I get where you’re coming from but someone who wants to be committed isn’t going to make you Plan B. People prioritize different things at different stages. But you also have to remember that not every women is able to achieve men as easily as some. It’s a bit similar on both sides. I for one have a droopy eye. Don’t know why, but I also have very small eyes too. So when my face is relaxed it looks a bit odd. I tend to usually keep my eyes bright and alert in order to look better. On top of that, I could definitely stand to lose some weight. A…

In my personal experience I never just went for conventionally attractive men. It was always someone I could compete with. For some it was on an intellectual level, some it was physical, at one point it was video games. Now for me it’s back in intellect and career success. I won’t like just any guy, and no it’s not Chad “I-go-to-the-gym-and-drink-protein-shakes”. I’m specific and I have a particular taste but I don’t rule out guys for being chubby or short. With a lot of the guys I liked they we…

For me it’s always been intellect and I don’t mean strictly academically smart. It’s extremely attractive when I can hold a conversation or debate with someone and they can actual refute my points. My current bf is extremely intelligent. He loves to code, so sometimes when he shows me what he’s working on I feel like a toddler(I’m more biology/animal science/book smart). But he will explain it to me as many times as need be until I have a grasp on what it is. And it’s absolutely sexy when he pla…

Hey same here! I have to build an emotional connection with someone before a sexual attraction is formed. It’s how I build lasting relationships. The guy who keeps replying to you doesn’t get it and that’s fine. He probably never will. You know what you like and what attracts you and your boyfriend knows that too. Doesn’t make any of it any less valid because you’re not going into extreme detail.

I understand, I just also happen to enjoy knowing I’ve screwed with their mindset of “All women are bad” It’s like finding a loose string and pulling at it until it unravels. Very fun.

Wait…so it’s not normal to not want a family? What is this? The baby boomer age? Men who don’t want families are completely normal. Everyone has different life goals and some don’t involve children. Lifestyle choices are personal.

Yes like I’m gonna take any advice from a man who literally screams incel.

I probably wouldn’t and for several reasons: —I’m a very career oriented woman so when that part of my life comes to fruition I won’t have time to be the SAHM if dad feels like going back to work. I went crazy during the pandemic staying home most of the time! —Kids from another marriage tend to bring heavy baggage. Either mom died, mom divorced, or moms still somewhat in the picture, and while I appreciate what the dad may be going through I would like to not deal with either the child being sp…

I don’t think I could be a forever girlfriend. I get what everyone’s saying “Marriage is just a piece of paper” “It’s a scam for men” etc etc But I want to get married. I want to have that moment in my life where the only thing that matters as I walk down the aisle is my husband. I want to have that moment of him seeing me in that big white dress and thinking how beautiful I am and how much he loves me in that moment. Sure, love like that should last forever. But you don’t recreate special momen…

It’s okay if you’ve never felt loved before. I’d bring that up with your therapist not with me.

Prove what to you? I genuinely don’t have to prove how I felt. It’s all gonna be completely anecdotal unless you hook me up to a lie detector or some sort of brain scanner. Again you don’t know me. You saw I was a female, saw my comment which stated I loved and will love my bf no matter what and basically said “So your feelings are wrong because I said so.” It’s absolutely hilarious that you think you did something or won the argument…of a post pretty much reliant on anecdotal evidence. Go on in…

Sure sure sure. I don’t really wanna argue with someone who’s as arrogant and narcissistic as you because I’m at least 95% sure you’re just an incel who won’t believe that I did fall in love because of his personality. Hope you’re happy being proven wrong :-)

I just chalk it up to incels who can’t accept that some women actually like men for their personalities and not just because they’re six feet tall, earn six figures, and are hung like a horse. It’s sad, but we have to accept that some people can’t never be happy.

Except you’re not right? I get biology plays a part but we also have autonomy. Sure he had charisma, that’s part of his personality. I’m charismatic as well. We meshed well on a deeper level. Again I started dating him before I saw what he looked like so there was no “cementing” anything. I knew I liked him. I knew I’d like the man I saw regardless if he was 6 ft tall or 5’5. Regardless if he’d been fat or had a six pack. I do have preferences. All women do. But how he looked did not cement anyt…

Considering your top post is literally how much you hate women I don’t think I’ll be regarding your opinions on my relationship or what I’m most attracted to.

Actually Mr.Know it all, he was my gaming buddy first. Literally never saw his face until we both admitted we liked each other. But hey since you know everything I guess it was all just superficial huh? Women can’t POSSIBLY fall for a man based on his intelligence.

Asking out is the first move? Since when? What happened to getting to know people and building something of an attraction? Again, most of my current experiences were from high school and the years before. My first college experience and I get a LTR. Same thing I always did. Make friends, flirt lightly, increase the intensity of my flirting once I recognized the signs of attraction, and this time I ended up with him. I prefer to work like this. And while it’s never, until presently, gotten me a b…

Except I coupled that with presenting romantic gifts and such. It wasn’t just watching sports games. But all of that led to either me asking them out and getting rejected or never asking. Dependent on how badly I was crushing.

It’s honestly my pleasure! In my current relationship the only arguments I’ve had my with my bf thus far were all debates on controversial topics😂It’s super educational for me and I get to be competitive with him on who has learned the most

This sort of get a giggle out of me. I’m a woman in Vet Med and my boyfriend at the moment is currently in Computer Engineering and a Twitch Streamer. Out of all the men I have liked and dated, he is, I gotta say, light years more attractive than any of them. And despite the fact that I think he could be on the front page of Vogue, I love him for his brains. There’s no shame in me loving his body, but wow is he just insanely smart. Sometimes, as someone who was always told they were gonna be the…

Pretty much every man I’ve ever liked I asked out or first or made my feelings for them as obvious as possible—think valentines gifts and staying to watch their sports games. My issue when I was younger was basically that I had a bad habit of becoming obsessive and competitive with liking people. Basically for me, it was very much the thrill of the chase. (I look back on that and cringe so please don’t roast me in the comments. I know how it sounds and I hate it but it’s true.) My current relati…
