Looking at the picture of that smiling kid makes me physically ill after reading that. I'm not much of a crier, but I'm sitting here with tears on my face How could you do anything like this to a child? My brain just can't comprehend it.

I've been with my wife 15 years (since senior year of high school) and we're the exact opposite. We own a business and she does 95% of the work. I help out when needed. For the most part I'm a stay at home dad who does most of the domestic stuff. It works because we respect each other and we don't tally up who does what every day. We fuck 3+ times a week and I can count on one hand the number of fights we've had in 15 years, so it seems to be working out good from my perspective. It helps that m…

Well being obese doesn't actually lower life expectancy much at all for women. Especially if they carry the weight in their thighs. I believe that stops being the case when a woman reaches "morbid obesity" levels though. Men though, even "overweight" but not "obese" men live considerably shorter lives.

She's lying. My wife just turned 34 and she looks at least 15 years younger than this woman.

Women are the least likely to be a victim of stranger violence, even less likely than children. The idea that women can't walk around alone at night is a complete fantasy.

One of my employees was a grandma at 33 (she's 34 now). Had her kid at 16 and her kid knocked up his girlfriend when he was 16.

Are you implying this is rare? I knew several girls in HS that got pregnant at 16 or 17. Their kids gets pregnant at the same age and bam, grandma at 33.

I've said for years that rom-coms are just porn for women. If you are going to make the argument that porn is unhealthy because it sets unrealistic expectations, than rom-coms also check that box. My sister in law just hit 30 and is slowly realizing she fucked up by setting the bar way too high. The way she talks about finding "the perfect guy" is an exact amalgamation of about 10 rom-coms from the past 20 years. She's literally expecting a modem fairy tale type situation. She's constantly trave…

My wife owns a business that nets five figures monthly on top of the 6 figure salary she pays herself. I'm a stay at home dad. If we got a divorce I'd make out like a bandit. Not that we ever would. I can literally count on one hand how many times we've gotten into an argument in the last 14 years. We've consistently had sex 3+ times a week for years. As I mentioned, my wife is very active in various men's and anti-feminist subs/forums. I know misery loves company, but sometimes it does work out…

Yep. Took about 20 years of trying to meet someone for them to go "oh shit, I don't actually want a guy who comes home crying because he heard on NPR that some states were banning transgender women from women's bathrooms..." As others have pointed out, the real problem is that none of these women want to take on more traditional times themselves. They're still strong independent womyn who can do as they please, you just have to stick to being the man by paying and taking care of everything.

I'm 32 and too old and tired to play along. I'm really lucky. I married my high school sweetheart, 14 years now. She's the most chill, down to earth woman I've ever met. She's more annoyed with modern female behavior than I am, haha. I can't imagine something happening to her and then having to navigate the modern dating world. I always tell her that if she dies, it's strictly escorts from then on. I'm not going down the dating hell hole.

It's volatile, but extremely predictable, which is ideal conditions for day trades. I make a few hundred a day setting up limit orders and I've yet to actually lose money, I've just had days where I've held longer than I intended, so no profit. If you can keep cool and not panic buy/sell there's a ton of easy money to be made playing the spread.

Is that the case though? I agree with you that's the case for 99% of things, but can people really get better at drawing or is it more honing of their already present skill? I feel like you can either draw or you can't.

major expense That's a personal choice. My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I were getting ready to celebrate our 10 year anniversary together and I said "you want to go get married?" We went to this little strip mall chapel, paid $50 to have two witnesses present and $200 for the "ceremony". It's been 4 years since then and we still haven't told anybody.

Medical billing and coding. It's an easy but monotonous job for the most part so I have been thinking we could all work remotely for a while. I think it could still work, I just have to get some sort of weekly tracker in place instead of monthly. At the office, people don't have much do other than post claims. At home, I think they just say "meh, I've got a month to get to those claims.". I know that's what they're doing because I'm guilty of doing that myself, haha.

As an employer, I'm seeing the opposite. My employees aren't getting shit done anymore and I let them watch TV at their desk pre-covid, so I don't know what the fuck they're doing all day. I was really interested in moving everyone remote before covid and now I'm pretty well convinced this can't actually work, at least not in my industry.

Not even close. I'm very pro cop, but it's no where near as dangerous as people think. A huge majority of the deaths come from traffic accidents as well. This is part of the actual problem with police. They are told and trained to expect everyone is actively going to kill them, when very few officers will ever have to even pull their weapon out.

It's hard to find exact data, but estimates show "assault weapons" accounts for ⅒ of 1% of all homicides per year. What we do have exact data on is any homicide committed with any rifle, and rifles in general make up only 3.2%. In any given year, for every person murdered with a rifle, there are 15 murdered with handguns, 1.7 with hands or fists, and 1.2 with blunt instruments. That's for any rifle, not just assault rifles. Between 2007 and 2017, nearly 1,700 people were murdered with a knife or…

I agree with what you are saying except for one thing. Zapped! the 1981 film staring Scott Baio is a rated "R" film intended for adults. The new version is intended for children to watch. There is nothing wrong with showing most adults American Psycho. They can for the most part grasp that the film is a social commentary on 1980s yuppy culture. Children on the other would probably not fully understand that the guy you are watching on screen for 95% of the film isn't the "good guy".

It's a fabricated fear. Being a police officer isn't nearly as dangerous as it's claimed to be. In reality, they come in far behind truck drivers, farmers, miners, trash collectors, and a bunch of other every day occupations. Not to mention, most years, auto related accidents account for more than half of all police deaths. You are actually more likely to be a victim of homicide being a taxi driver than you are a police officer.

For it to be the manslaughter you're claiming it should be would require a reckless driving charge No I'm not, you're twisting my words to try and win the argument which is pathetic. Running over leaves on the curb that is. And yes, there are several laws she was breaking. Driving recklessly, failure to maintain lane, failure to avoid an obstacle. People get convicted of manslaughter all the time for these infractions, along with speeding, etc.
/r/MensRights02/02/14 12:32 AM

Homicide no, but manslaughter is reserved for occasions like this. Accidental deaths. She broke several laws when she intentionally drove through the leaves on the curb. Reckless driving, failing to maintain lane, etc. People get convicted for manslaughter for speeding all the time, how is this any different? Would you drive through a pile of leaves on the side of the road if a cop was watching? I didn't think so.
/r/MensRights02/02/14 12:29 AM

Vehicular manslaughter is not an easy charge/conviction unless the driver is blatantly violating a traffic law in some way or acting with extreme disregard for the safety of others. Driving through a pile of leaves on the side of the road? How about negligence, reckless driving, failure to avoid an obstacle? All those things are grounds for vehicular manslaughter just like speeding, driving drunk, etc.

She knowingly committed no crime at the time of the event, and was not charged with manslaughter, nor was that charge permitted by the situation. She intentially drove through a pile of leaves on the side of the road. Negligent behavior? Driving recklessly? Let me ask you something; would you drive through a pile of leaves on the curb if a cop was behind you? No, because you are breaking several laws and you know it. Driving recklessly is absolutely grounds for homicide. So is speeding, failure …

/r/MensRights01/02/14 11:43 PM

Yes, but it's known that she intentionally drove up the curb to run over the leaves. While running through a big pile of leaves does sound like fun, it was still negligent and she could absolutely be charge with manslaughter. Driving recklessly and negligent behavior come to mind as grounds for manslaughter. That's what I feel a lot of people are missing with this post. The court could have easily spun it towards homicide had they wanted to, but they went out of their way not to. Would they have…

She should have been punished for exactly what he was punished for, but the story goes "I went home and I had no idea. My boyfriend took my car without me knowing. What's a car?" It seems like most people in this thread fully understand what she was convicted of, the problem being what she should have been charged with in the first place.
/r/MensRights01/02/14 11:31 PM

Ok, assuming you are right, and she had no idea anything happened the whole time and was completely unaware that her boyfriend took her car without her knowing to a car wash to remove the blood, we all know what would have happened had this been a man. /r/MensRights01/02/14 11:08 PM

Whether or not your accounting of what happened is exactly how it went down, had the roles been reversed, she would have walked, and the boyfriend would be doing 15 years minimum for manslaughter.
/r/MensRights01/02/14 11:04 PM

You're right. And going home, realizing what you've done, not telling anyone, being aware of your boyfriend cleaning off the evidence (assuming she didn't participate, which I think is bullshit) then not telling anyone about that was an accident too. "I tripped and fell on his dick"

Almost everything on that list effects boys/men as well, at least in a similar fashion. There are maybe 1 or 2 actual gendered issues on that list and even then, you can sub out for male related words and make similar arguments. Men/boys get made fun of for body hair as well. That isn't a gendered issue in the least bit. Alternatively, if you are such a wretched cunt that your only appeal to men is your vagina, you might have to worry about being a decent human being, and attracting men with your personality.

Men could definitely vote before then. Women didn't have the same rights to voting until 1928. In 1918 men over 21 could vote, but only women over 30 (plus some other conditions) could vote. Some men could vote from the 1400's, it wasn't until 700 years later that any woman could vote. Fucking excuse me? Men NEVER have "had the right" to vote, it has to be earned to this day. Men were the ones signing up for the draft which is what gave them the right to vote. I still have to register for the dr…

never even went to court I assume she never saw any such court hearing as the defendant either, right? She should have had her daughter taken from her and she should have been looking at jail time. The courts not removing a child from a person that would do something like that is a massive failure.

But you've missed the point. It isn't intended to show a disparity between the number of employed military men/women to the number of military men/women deaths; it is intended to show who as a society we have decided to kill in our wars. Who is expendable.

Right, so it is safe to assume that the man walking around freely is guilty, while the four women walking around freely are innocent? Are you even reading what you are typing? You honestly don't see something wrong in the police immediately assuming the man is the only guilty party, while the four women's mental health is being evaluated? Because they must be victims in this as well right? I'm not saying it isn't possible for the women to be held there as well, but there situation doesn't sound …

Just for clarification, how many sons did you have aborted, and how many children do you have now? I'm not judging you, but based on your story it sounds like you aborted your one son, but several times towards the end there, you mention what you did to your two little boys and your sons. I'm just curious and I would like a bit of clarification if you don't mind.

You've missed the point. The statistic is not to show a disparity between employed military male/female persons and military male/female deaths, it was simply to show who, as a society, we have deemed fit to die for us.

Oh absolutely. Just for the record, my comment was more along the lines of "This is so ridiculous it's almost unbelievable" rather than "I truly believe Amanda Marcotte is a character and these aren't her real opinions".

For fuck’s sake, I can’t believe the NY Times gave space to the tedious argument that because women have been graciously granted their right to reproductive autonomy (actually, it’s not even remotely gracious), it’s time to deal with the largely imaginary plague of “forced fatherhood”, i.e. women getting pregnant and carrying pregnancies to term against the father’s wishes, and then suing him for child support. This happens occasionally, though compared to men trying to force women to get pregna…

Yea I know right. If this guy was cheating, he most likely raped this girl as well. Just today, I didn't make a complete stop at a stop sign, so I must have also killed someone right?

You are innocent until proven guilty (well, you are suppose to be anyways). There is not evidence to prove she was raped other than her word according to what we have seen. That is not (shouldn't have been) enough to convict him of rape. This is day 1 of criminal justice 101. It's mind boggling to me that even on the MRA subreddit there are people who are saying "Well... MAYBE HE DID RAPE HER! HUH?"

I just clicked through all of those thinking "Well.. That's not right... All of these have sexy women right on the front page." I then picked up on your subtle sarcasm once I got to "The whole idea that women want to look sexy comes from the Patriarchy, and women are forced to obey."

It's a viable defense now. Look at the Jodi Arias case. "I was afraid of my boyfriend so I drove for 10 hours to his house, slit his throat and shot him in the face while he was defenseless in the shower." Luckily the jury didn't buy it, but the fact that it was even an admissible defense is ridiculous.

The most ridiculous part about this whole thing is that the character Joel would be a whole hell of a lot better off leaving the little girl to die by herself. He is most definitely in more danger caring for this little girl, and yet he chooses to, so she doesn't suffer. Every single trailer I have seen for this game so far shows Joel risking his life to protect this girl several time. The developers did an excellent job at making the fighting seem realistic, as in, Joel could make one wrong mov…

That's not good enough, don't you see?! THIS game was a good game that got ruined because we are forced to play as a man! If we would just start making all lead characters in video games (and TV and films, and books, but that is a different discussion) female, this wouldn't be a problem! Why don't you douche bags get it!?!?

True. I have friends who played Magic and no longer do for the simple fact that it got boring, or their friends who played quit as well. My statement was definitely more anecdotal than anything. Like I said, your point is valid though. As soon as gaming went mainstream, suddenly it was important to get girls into gaming. I was actually just listening to an AVFM radio show were this was mentioned. One of the hosts mentioned something like "Now that plenty of guys are more interested in playing ga…

But it seems like a damn if you do, damn if you dont. Dont have women around and feminists complain about the lack of women and oppression. Do put a woman up there and now everything is about rape/oppression anyway. I don't want to tell people what they are and aren't interested in, but there has been a huge influx of feminists into gaming recently, and to me it seems more like an infiltration of "men's spaces" rather than a real interest in gaming. I think they do it on a subconscious level wit…

I bet in 5-10 years when that game becomes extremely popular and "cool" it will be full of women trying to get in and shaming men for not catering to them. Just want to let you know, Magic: The Gathering is 20 years old. It's certainly not getting more popular, or going mainstream in the foreseeable future. Your point is valid though, and I absolutely agree with it.

You've completely missed the point. The problem with this statement, is it puts fault completely on fathers for not being in their children's lives. There are definitely large numbers of men who choose not to be involved with their children's lives, but like typhon pointed out, this would never fly if the genders were reversed; certainly not all men are bad fathers. And claiming this is encouraging fathers to be good role models, is like telling a fat person "Maybe if you'd lose 50 pounds, someo…

Honestly I am not too sure. I haven't delved deep into the MRM myself and I just stumbled upon that video a couple weeks ago. I then noticed her books mentioned in the sidebar a couple days ago. Of all the mens rights supporters I have come across, she is the only one I have found that focuses on boys in education. Like I said though I have only seen that one video and read a few things about her here on /r/MensRights. I'm sure some of the older members will chime in soon enough though with more…

This is a pretty good video on the subject. This is the only video I have seen of hers, but she gives a bit of backstory on her "fall from feminism". The video isn't super in depth, but definitely hits the main points. I'm willing to bet her book that is mentioned on the sidebar covers the topic as well. "The War Against Boys - Christina Hoff Sommers"
/r/MensRights09/06/13 12:36 PM

And I just want to clarify that I am not trying to defend this woman. I would just feel hypocritical saying "Well the boy is clearly hysterical and he says she hits him so she must be abusive". I've argued against that logic countless times when dealing with people who pretend if a woman claims domestic violence or rape, it must be true.
/r/MensRights09/06/13 12:26 PM

Whether you are aware of it or not, I feel like you are twisting my words. To be honest, if my son was trying to physically fight me, or was punching holes in my wall, or kicking my TV, or whatever, I feel like restraining him against the wall by his neck would be the nice way of going about things. Either way, this is the discussion I didn't want to get into. Now I am just speculating on things that may or may not have happened. The whole point of my post was to say "Who knows what happens behi…

We don't but the father handle it quite well not only that he uploaded the whole video, no editing at all. Which is huge as a lot of times with editing video you can pretty much make the person out however you want and here he let the whole thing shown for itself. I loved that. She even mentions at one point that he will edit it to make her look bad, and then he leaves the video in its entirety unedited, which I found hilarious. I think a lot of us did do such thing with our parents, but this ki…
/r/MensRights09/06/13 12:07 PM

I never once made any claims that this boy was assaulting or harassing anyone, I was simply giving an example of when physically restraining someone by their neck might appropriate. Once again, it was just to prove we don't know the whole story, and until we do I don't think it's fair to label this woman an abuser of children. Like I said, this is literally no different than a woman telling the cops "My husband hit me!" then literally begging at the feet of the cops to protect her. Without any e…
/r/MensRights09/06/13 11:37 AM

Most likely yes, but that doesn't make it right. The MRM should be looking to raise the standards of living for men, not lowering them for women.
/r/MensRights09/06/13 11:20 AM

But once again we don't have the full story. Was I assaulting or harassing my coworker first? Was I destroying their property? You are ignoring the obvious difference between the relationship of two adults and the relationship of a parent and child. The MRM speaks out against the lack of due process in the legal system quite frequently. A woman claiming rape or domestic violence without any evidence should not be enough to arrest or convict someone. The same should go for everyone, children as w…
/r/MensRights09/06/13 11:04 AM

The kid specifically said "You didn't choke me, but you put your hand around my neck and pushed me up against the wall". I agree I would never do that to my kids, but that certainly doesn't constitute a "horrible and unfair environment". If I had a nickle for every time my parents were yelling at me, or my father had to physically show me who's boss, I wouldn't be sitting here typing this, I'd be lounging in the sand by my beach house in Bermuda. Every time I got yelled at or hit as a child it w…

Wow what an amazing video. I initially thought "72 minutes! Screw that I am just going to skim through it", but after a couple minutes I caved and watched the whole thing, and I am happy I did. The blatant manipulation displayed by this woman is insane. At one point the mother says "You are really going to do this on the biggest day of your life?!" The kid looks at her and says "What are you talking about?" After about 10 seconds of fumbling for a response that she clearly is making up on the sp…

My girlfriend and I have watched The Real World for years, at this point just out of habit. Both of us were so angry watching this episode last night, because no one stepped in and removed her. We have seen "cast members" removed from the house for far less. Every year we say "That's it! I am never watching this show again!" because of some stupid crap like this, but we never keep our word. My personal opinion is that Paul Elam's approach is more argumentative than someone like you typhon, John, or Karen, who are more interested in discussion. Like I said, there is nothing wrong with that, it's just not my style. Yes you are right about the show being only for MRAs, but he let her stay on the air. I just couldn't help but feel like he was looking for a reason to start an argument and kick her off the air. I mean, that's fine it's his show and he can do whatever he feels like, but I…

Yes he did. Despite that, Paul was definitely aggressive. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, it's just not my style. You catch more fly's with honey, and Paul definitely has an aggressive approach to dealing with people. Again, there is nothing wrong with that, it's just my opinion. An even better way to word it is; let's say I own an electronics store, I wouldn't put Paul Elam on the sales floor, but I absolutely would put him in the warehouse as a manager.

I couldn't agree more. That doesn't change how I feel about the interview. I'd much rather listen to someone politely destroy his argument than cut him off every time he begins to speak with "EXCUSE ME SIR!". At one point Paul yelled at him for cutting him off, but then continues to cut him off for the rest of the interview. I don't like the feminist bullshit this kid is spewing either, but I still think he has a right to state his opinion, especially considering for most of the interview he wai…

Yea I listened to that yesterday. I was going to post here about it but figured I would get downvoted, but whatever, here it goes... I like Paul Elam, he just doesn't know how to talk to people. As misguided as that kid was, Paul comes off as the bully and the aggressor. I guess there is nothing wrong with that, but it's somewhat hard to show my friends knowing they will just say "Wow, that guy is kinda rude". The first time I heard Paul Elam, was on A Voice For Men radio, the first episode. His…

No one is cheering for broken homes, but I doubt any would want to return to that level of dependence either. That level of dependence is still there, it's just not on the shoulders of 1 man/woman. Single parent households make up a large majority of welfare recipients; 51%, while two parent households make up only 5%. This doesn't include other government/state run assistance programs, or child support. Very rarely are single parents "independent". The bill has just been passed off to the masse…

No I don't believe so. It was definitely a big deal, and he was updating everyone on what was happening over Facebook for about a week (I think he was trying to get his job back), but I don't remember the outcome. This happened to a friend of mine years ago. He asked a girl from his work to come out to the party we were throwing for him for his birthday. She declined, and on Monday when he returned to work, he was fired for sexual harassment. Having no idea what this was about he finally got it out of someone that the girl complained about being asked to a party. What bothered me most was the fact that she was obviously not locked in a cage and therefor could have gotten herself away from her "abuser". I will never understand that logic. There is a major difference between "He was coming at me and I just reacted!" and "He hit me, so over the past 3 weeks I have been secretly setting up a meeting with a hitman to kill my husband". If you can secretly setup a meeting with a hitman without your abusive partner knowing, you can secretly check yourself into a…

Read the first line of the article. "A MAN could be convicted of rape even if the woman agreed to have sex, judges ruled yesterday." In the UK, rape is legally defined as penetration of another person with a penis, therefore women are incapable of rape. 1-(1) A person (A) commits an offence if— (a) he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person (B) with his penis, (b) B does not consent to the penetration, and (c) A does not reasonably believe that B consents.
