Embrace rejection. Sounds silly, but even James Bond gets rejected. You know how he reacts? He gets this "Well you can't get them all" look on his face and moves on. Pay attention to the last couple of seconds of this video. Sure, fictional character etc. but I think this is the mindset you should aim for. The way I see failure is that you need to experience it if you want to be as successful as possible. Example: I like to do powerlifting. Sometimes you need to check how much you can actually l…

Does it matter? Regardless of your facial aesthetics you should take care of your body, practice good hygiene, get a decent haircut/contacts, dress well, and be confident. Then see what happens.

No it's not. Go to a bar or something.

I think in "No More Mr. Nice Guy" the author suggests to follow the rule "If you're afraid of it, do it". In my opinion this is good advice, and I started to follow it. Obviously this doesn't mean to run across the highway during rush hour or something, but applies to asking for a promotion, confronting somebody, going on a date... I only see upsides to having this attitude.

I assume most if not all of you are American. Can you comment on social expectations where you are? I dated an American girl once. Started doing it while I was dating another girl (only for 1-2 weeks at that point), and I felt guilty even going on a date with the second one. Broke it off with No 1 right after the first date with No 2. When No 2 brought up the topic of exclusivity I was surprised because in my mind we were exclusive after the first date (after getting physical). I think where I l…

I don't see why good looking guys should approach women any differently than average guys.

Mark Manson's "Models" covers all of this. Read it. PS Don't say "unemployed", say you're "job hunting"

Good for you! also, when should I hit her up to set up a date for coffee or something this weekend? Do it today. The 3-day-rule is crap. If she's interested she won't be like "Well I would have gone out with him if he had waited a little longer to contact me". And I don't know about you, but if she is not interested, I'd rather know sooner than later so you can move on and keep her as a friend.

You're absolutely right on everything. I appreciate you taking the time to write this in such depth. Coincidentally, I just had this situation today. Last weekend I went out with a couple of guys from the gym and this one chick (also from the gym) joined us. She's tall, athletic, pretty good looking, educated and witty - considering it was basically a guys night out she really held her own. And this one older guy from our group is all over her constantly. Plenty of kino, but not the good kind th…

I'm just getting out of a marriage. So far I've been seeing it as a flaw, failing at staying married, and I've been avoiding the topic. Or the girl will be put off because she'll fear I'll always compare her to the love of my life. You're telling me it actually gives me an advantage when dating?

"Hello" doesn't count as an opener. What do you say afterwards?

So why is this called a "shit test"? Isn't it much more likely that she would just like to know? Like, she isn't going to think "I should test this guy by asking him his age and see how he reacts". I mean, even with guys I meet we eventually ask each others age. Mostly they bring it up cause I don't give a shit, but whatever. I do agree that asking her to guess is a nice way to keep the conversation going.

Sure, makes sense. So you would have pursued her further anyway? Or just accept it as a rejection and moved on? My gut tells me to assume she tells the truth and respect that... is that naive?

Is that not a legit reason? I got a number once and I asked her later via text about her relationship status. She said it was complicated and just got out of a long term relationship and thus wasn't ready but she also said she found me charming. The way she worded it kinda made it sound to me like she has yet to break up with the guy, but I didn't press for details. Told her to give me a call when she changes her mind. I mean, after my last relationship I needed a few months myself. Would you ha…

This is probably a stupid question. But what the fuck do you say? You obviously don't have time to think, that's the point. So you say hi, introduce yourself, and then what? "How are you doing tonight?" Isn't this going to be weird as fuck? I'm not doubting the effectiveness of the idea. I believe you when you say it works and your arguments make sense. But... what do you say? Do you use canned lines?

Looks like a good summary. Should be in the sidebar, and I kinda want to reference it whenever somebody criticizes subscribers of /r/seduction for wanting to manipulate/trick women into having sex with them. Who can really object to the points in this list?

Smile a lot, and make your intentions clear when you meet someone you want to bang. Not necessarily explicitly, but a lot of touching, sexual innuendos, etc. can go a long way.

Sounds spot on. With a bit more experience (I just wasn't expecting this at all) it might have gone a lot different.

And yes, she wasn't impressed. No one is impressed by PhD except your parents or an employer, it's nothing you talk about at parties with anyone, trust me. Be more than your job! I get the sentiment, but not everything I say has to be impressive, right?

Well, she did totally confirm my prejudice I had about law students. No offense, law students who are reading this.

I feel like this is good advice. It was just that in this situation I simply didn't know anymore what else to say after her guessing almost right, so I just told her what I do. I didn't think it would impress her, I know most people aren't impressed by nerdy things. I wasn't even trying to impress her, I was just trying to have a normal conversation, never expecting that kind of hostility out of nowhere. Again, I was completely outcome independent. I had no goal that night at all. But I'll keep …

Funny, one example of how to respond to the "what do you do" question is "guess", which is what I actually said. I just didn't mention it to keep it short. She actually guessed more or less right by saying "some science judging by the way you look", which also left me totally at a loss for words. She read me pretty well. Also there were a lot of nerds on that party, so it was kinda obvious. The host and I did our undergrad together, so there were actually a few engineering/math PhDs.

My impression was that she was just looking for guys to beat up verbally. The fact that she did the same thing to (at least) one other guy makes me think that. She knows how hot she is and that she can say whatever the fuck she wants and men still go after her while ignoring her good friend who puts up with her.

Absolutely did I bomb it. It was basically my first night out after a very long term relationship, so I simply consider it a learning lesson. Ironically, she's the girl I've been thinking about the most since then, even though I found a few girls much cuter than her. She just stuck out. But not in a good way. Afterwards I was thinking about how I should have asked her if she has a ghost writer for her dissertation, since there was this huge thing in the news about one of our politicians being ca…

I'd be interested in your opinion on picking up girls in Germany and differences to the US. I'm German, so cultural and language barriers are not an issue, but I feel that girls in the US are less reserved than they are here.

I feel like this is my answer to everything, but start lifting weights. I truly believe it will help you socially. It will increase your confidence and it will show.
/r/seduction29/09/13 08:53 AM

You're making excuses. Lifting makes you feel better and will make you feel more confident. It's not just for women, being strong is fun. It won't make you magically look great either, because it's a lot of hard work, but if you manage it, it will brighten your mood every time you see yourself in the mirror. Not to mention that if you're overweight now, it will most likely only get worse as you age. Better do something about it while it's still easy.

Peer pressure is probably the biggest reason I've been drinking for the past 10 years in the first place. I do enjoy a small glass of scotch one in a while, but for the most part alcohol doesn't really appeal to me. I don't think it ever did, but I drank it because of peer pressure, except I didn't realize that at the time. Now I'm wondering the same thing as you are. What I know doesn't work in situations that you describe is to be shy about it, saying "yeah, I don't know, maybe later" or even …

I'm about to throw myself back into the dating game. And I really enjoyed drinking pretty much no alcohol lately. It rarely makes me feel good and I hate the hangover part. It does make me a lot more talkative and relaxed though, so I was a little worried that it would affect my chances when picking up women. But I can see that you have a point. It just means that I have to work harder on myself, a challenge I gladly accept. Thanks for posting this.
