That’s so heartbreaking man.

Your friend needs to file a complaint with child protective services. That should get the ball rolling.

Can attest as a 16 y/o thanks to chat rooms, I had a 29 y/o man friend who lived in his mother’s basement.

This is hilarious. And nope, they don’t change. They just adjust their approaches.

I’m rooting for you! I hope you’re in therapy to help with the healing process.

I love this. It reminds me of the meme where the woman asked her doctor why she practiced medicine with her maiden name. The Dr said... “because my husband didn’t go to Medical school”.

This reminds me of a meme that said “Being broke and worried about gold diggers is like a steak house worried about vegans.... you don’t have what they want.”

You are a Queen! I love that you have found a special confidence from other powerful women. I hope he steps it up over the next year, but if he doesn’t.... cut him loose.

Yep! Went on a tinder date with someone this happened to. His ex wife is happily married to a guy she met in their open marriage.

Idk you have to pick your battles wisely. I met a guy at a training, we hung out the entire time and talked everyday afterwards. Literally would fall asleep on the phone, made future plans, etc. He was set to deploy shortly. Well one day his wife calls. She was rightfully upset.... but with ME. I told her the truth, I knew he had a daughter but never mentioned a wife. Obviously (fuck I look like). Yes we’ve kissed (that was all), yes we’ve been on dates. Crazy wife wouldn’t stop calling and curs…

I also want a partner who is equally attractive. What I started doing is not going on dates with men I found somewhat attractive. I wouldn’t even waste the time swiping on them and if someone slipped through the cracks, I had no problem unmatching. For me it’s even harder because as a sapiosexual, even if you looked like Idris Elba... if you didn’t have the conversation and book smarts I would be left wanting. You don’t have to lower your standards, but take into account what you could live with…

End it now. You still have a low self esteem, you seem to think you can’t do better, and you’d rather stay in a dead end relationship with someone who is verbally abusive rather than be alone. Please find someone to talk to, I would recommend a therapist over a friend. There is nothing to hold onto here, and there is nothing to be gained. Work on you. You have so many amazing things going on and lined up. Sometimes we outgrow people... there’s nothing wrong with that. Move on, you deserve better…

I think you handled this well. I would have said something similar, or likely would have cancelled or unmatched. I had a first date yesterday and the guy drove the entire 2 hours distance between us. I live in a town where the best dating scene is at least 1.5 hours away.... as well as many of my matches. Once they say “Do you ever come to (insert city), I usually say no and wait for the response. After dating a man who used his kids and his work as an excuse for months and had me racking up mil…

I agree that nothing is permanent and that he is simply a guy but unless the underlying issues are dealt with, this will be the same issue with some other guy. And to those downvoting... really? At the end of the day we should be encouraging and uplifting each other. Some of y’all really kill me with this.

A few I read prior to my comment were along the lines of “long distance doesn’t work” “he’s going to leave when he goes to college”. The issue here isn’t so much him, it’s the fact that she needs to build her own self esteem.

I’m very surprised by a lot of the responses here. As someone in my early 30s I’m going to give you some advice from the heart. I think it’s a great thing that you realize you have a low self esteem. I would encourage you to seek some therapy. I know you’re in high-school so you may need to talk to a parent first about how you feel about yourself. If that’s not a option, as soon as you’re an adult seek it. Once you “have it together” in regards to how you want to look in the mirror, there is sti…

Actually I think you should go to the police ASAP and get an order of protection. He sounds like a dangerous nut who doesn’t respect boundaries. You shouldn’t have to be afraid.

Amen! I’ve been there too. I’ve also learned if you start by driving out there, it’ll be expected. Now, if I’m even talking to a guy and he mentions if I ever come to his area, I delete.

I had to look that up. They are cute. If yours are worn, go with a vintage look. They seem to look very cute with an ankle jean. Style is what you make it. It’s about your attitude. Be confident in whatever you wear!!! Fads fade!

I think this is a good point. Ask why. It could be a privacy thing, or maybe he doesn’t know this is important to you. If you don’t like the reason then end it. I dated someone who was selfish and didn’t Champion for me. Actually that’s a pattern I’m trying to get out of. After I put on an amazing event that he was a no show to, I blocked him and never looked back.

Also don’t allow someone to manipulate you. If you are uncomfortable with their advances, and they continue, end the friendship. Friends respect your boundaries.

Don’t reveal it to your girlfriends either. I literally was on r/askmen where a woman was disclosing her engaged friend’s business, and stated that the fiancé thinks she’s had only a few when it’s over 20. Ladies, keep your business between you and your gynecologist. As long as you aren’t out here spreading diseases, playing with your life, or engaging is self sabotaging behaviors, that’s YOUR business. And yes, I told ol’ girl to mind her business.

A predator is a predator whether you’re at a bar, the pool, a court yard, your bed. I hope if I ever bring a daughter into this world, that she only reads about rape culture and victim blaming in books. We live in a crazy ass world.

I’ve run into the same issue with men not being supportive of me in my endeavors. The last guy I dated didn’t show up to an event of mine. I blocked him and never looked back. Now, I’m requiring support in the beginning. My current test is I’m putting on a charity fundraising event next week. Of the three men that are showing interest right now, only one has asked if he can make a donation since he can’t attend. Guess what, the other two.... bye bye. You’ve showed me what the future looks like. …
