Enjoyed reading that greatly, thanks.

Thanks for commenting nonetheless. I've enjoyed browsing your post and comment history and find myself reluctantly agreeing with you on quite a few counts.

That's an interesting way of looking at perspective and focus. I definitely need to zoom out from a few things. As I said, if I do go with this course I'll put up an FR about it in a month or so.

Agreed. Am doing this, just need to be patient.

Thanks for your response. I am focussed on other goals, just need to be more concrete in what I'm doing when I get tempted to seek external validation.

Thanks for your thoughts. Finding it hard to internalise the truths that are starting to reveal themselves to me. If I do decide to go with this as an idea I will let you know how it turns out.

As a few days pass without sex and with rejections I feel my tension rising towards our relationship and struggle not to feel butthurt. Am not showing it but am feeling it when I get turned down. When we have had sex I notice that I feel more secure about myself, and as a result am able to NGAF and STFU successfully.

Improving but still some tense dynamics. Frequency about twice or three times a week, quality is one of these is usually starfish the others are more engaged. Have been reading around DEVI

Brilliant. Going to tell my mum all about this.

I'm handling more of my shit than ever but still have a long way to go; your reading between the lines is partially right. Interesting what you say about addicts, and I do agree. I have pretty much cut him out but it's the toll on my parents that bothers me.

Absolutely right. I will start posting in OYS, and also keeping a few notes. Thanks man!

This helped a lot. Not to devalue all the theoretical ass kicking I'm getting, but it's good to hear actual experience too. Thank you.

I fucking loved that reply, thanks. Have read MMSLP, WISNIFG and am half way through NMMNG. Am only on stage one dread, will be for a while. First stage of MAP is still underway.

Agreed on all counts. Thanks for taking the time to reply

I'm half way through. I'm a teacher and have been practicing broken record with my pupils. Works so well!

I certainly am. 3 years now. 2 step children and one daughter. I in no way purport to be any kind of expert.

I can see that you're angry; yes, I am new to this.

I think the oak is Kay's idea of the perfect mix of alpha and beta. "I can see why you think that", then leading the conversation to a more productive place using a strong and certain frame would have been a different option.

Surely the method of aggressively leaving the room would show her that you are in no way supportive. This seems too forced alpha to me. I feel the situation needed a beta sprinkle. Have you heard of 'the oak'? I'm very new to MRP but will's answer seems too angry at women in general.

Completely agree with your first paragraph and that's how I should have done it. The second one is of course causing concern, but not in a conventional way. She has a few issues relating to her mother, who is staying with us for a couple of months (lives in Australia normally). Her mother being here has brought up a lot of old stuff. She genuinely does need space.

Agreed. Have STFU today and am not projecting anything negative. Results have been good for me already.

They were female friends. Genuinely not worried about that. Am, however, worried that I KEEP DEERing and not giving her the space (emotional) that she needs. I keep having to discuss things and then the discussion leads to horrible places.

Just really badly fucked up. She came home and complained about how when she's out her friends don't focus on each other enough. I replied "they don't have to, do they?" Shit storm ensued in which she has now told me that I don't give her enough space. I DEERed everywhere. Feeling fucking shit now like I've lost weeks work.

Thanks for your reply, very helpful and I will continue to maintain my frame.

You're right, thank you. I said "ok, have fun" and stayed home and built a bench (had to look after children). Feeling happy because I did those things for me, not her. Got a lovely text an hour ago expressing gratitude and love and generally feeling good.

Successfully STFU this morning. No engagement with the issue whatsoever. Lunch time at work I received a very apologetic text. Have been lifting and doing HIIT for three weeks now. Got home and she's commented on how good I look at the moment. May not have passed a shit test but I feel at least I didn't fail miserably like before.

I loved that. To add to my list: establish a strong frame

I feel like that post on r/relationships, whilst all too recent, will serve as an excellent "look at what a wet sack of piss I was" benchmark; I've considered deleting it but will instead enjoy laughing at it as I grow. So glad I discovered MRP.

Thank you for your reply. To clarify - does 'going rambo' mean trying to apply stuff before you've learned it properly?

Thanks. I keep piping up and trying to talk things better when in fact making them worse. Need to engage my willpower.

I read the reconstruction and it has seriously opened my eyes. Looking forward to this journey

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
