Yes, your mind is great at making excuses for why you shouldn't do something that makes you uncomfortable. Last night, the very first girl I chatted up, she was the girlfriend of one of the band members who were just playing. It was great interaction, and really got me rolling. What you need to do is be so spontaneous that you surprise even yourself, so your mind does not have enough time to make up the usual BS. I turn right, cute girl next to me, "Hi!". No contemplation, no figuring out opener…

Great answers already here, I'm mostly just elaborating on them: getting in the correct state of mind: you can warm up socially by having a chat with anyone and everyone. There's a guard at the entrance? Chat him up. Girls at the cloakroom? Definitely chat them up, tell them a lighthearted joke, they are BORED. Waiting at the bar? Chat the other people up. This exercise alleviates approach anxiety, and it will make approaching girls for a dance normal and even logical: we are here to have fun, d…

Forget about trying to picking up girls for now. Be chatty. If you notice anything about anyone, just tell them (although if it's an off-putting thing then don't.) Don't go only for the cute girls. Be the nice, social guy at the checkout that appreciates people, be they old or young, male or female, white, black, yellow or blue. Don't be pushy. While you might find someone attractive, most probably all they want to do is to pay, not to get picked up. Instead, just try to make an impression by ha…

I'm always using situational openers, they work out well (meaning #-close). I think there are two reasons for this: 1) It immediately gives us something common to talk about, no awkward grasping at topics after the silence following the "Hey, you are cute / Thanks". It's easy to turn the "you" and "me" into a "we" when you are actually experiencing something together. So I guess it puts the interaction in a good frame. 2) It helps me dodge approach anxiety. I even surprise myself opening, so I d…

Although male perspective, but I have noticed that while hanging out with female friends, I do get random IOIs from women passing by. I would put the amount to IOIs to my best solo days, when I just feel awesome, confident and sexy and every girl seems to be attracted to me. Perhaps when being with friendgirl, I do give out the same vibe, resulting in the same responses from outsider girls. Also, just speculating, but asking women about how they feel about this might be counter-productive. This …

You're saying we should lie to appear high value? Somehow it does not sound right.

I believe most of the guys overthink the #-close thing. I'm nowhere near being a PUA, I suck at kino, I'm always axious about opening, I'm your average nerd. Yet, when I had a nice chat with a HB, I just hand them my phone ready for their digits. It NEVER failed, no rejections whatsoever. Srsly guys, it's that simple.

Less talk, more kino. Seriously, I need to work on this thing.

I like how you did not go for the K-close. An AFC would have gone for the K-close, being desperate to get a girl, any girl. It seems you really got the best out this date.

This seems to be the general consensus around here. Too bad, she's really missing out. Although slaying the other 4 billion does not seem like something I would or I could do. I prefer blunt force trauma, that way I can flay them with their skin intact. Well, it's her loss.

It's okay, it was the storys climax anyways. When it comes to Armstrong, you know it can't really get any better than that. Did get laid, just not with her.

We reached an agreement about the possibility of hanging out sometimes in the future. That may or may not imply escalation, we haven't discussed that. Actually, I'd be fine with just hanging out given both of our LTRs. I found her and intriguing person, and also figured just showing up at venues with a hot female companion and obviously having fun would have other desirable consequences. Like preselection. Or self-confidence boosting.

Long time lurker, first time commenter here. I was just playing with the idea of writing an FR about my trip on the bus yesterday. Comparing your notes with mine, I do agree with some of your conlusions. Waiting idly is rarely fun, chatting is. I don't know the exact situation, but it seems the singing was actually for you to notice. The compliment was not that bad positioned, or at least it was way better than not saying anything. This way she could know she got your attention. Reinitiating the…
