Exactly this, it's going to depend on the industry (and geographic region) more than anything else. Most technical fields (engineering, medical research, high level IT, etc.) aren't going to care if you have a LinkedIn profile or not. I won't downplay the fact that LinkedIn is a great resource to connect with recruiters who work in your industry, or an industry you're trying to get into, but it's a tool not a necessity.

I'm apolitical as far as this election is concerned. I didn't vote for either Trump or Clinton, but since I don't live in a swing state that means very little.

You are assuming the low turnout for democrats is not linked to Trump's strategy. You are incorrect. Trump's campaign is a masterpiece of strategy and I can tell you for a fact that hundreds of pages in case studies are being drafted about this in marketing circles. Both the major parties have about 40% of the vote as a base, below which they will never drop in terms of election turnout. The reasons for this are varied, but it's a politically accepted reality. Trump was going to get 40% of the v…

A fair point, however as I mention you can look at the election through the 48 Laws of Power which is something talked about quite frequently on here. And there's going to be political posts, that's not the problem. It's when people slap themselves on the back for "calling it" ahead of time due to the idea that they somehow understood the political realities better than anyone else. We can talk about what's going to happen from here on out from a TRP perspective, but thinking that TRP somehow ga…

You clearly don't live in a swing state - the media was all over promoting Clinton by any means possible. I think I've had to toss enough flyers to carpet several houses by this point, and that's to say nothing of the billboards, radio spots, and TV ads going out basically 24/7 for the last month.

I agree, and I'm a progressive (not a liberal, and not a democrat). When the DNC tossed Bernie it became pretty clear they were no longer the progressive party anymore, which seems to be falling into the lap of libertarians suddenly. I mean, we've know this for a while but it was a pretty solid confirmation that it was time to bail. Back to your point - I have a lot a conservative and libertarian friends who feel really restricted in their work environment and thus have to let loose pretty regul…

You think the POTUS has nothing to do with the economy because of what they taught you in civics? That's not what I said, clearly you need to take a reading comprehension course too. I have a masters degree in Economics, I might know what I'm talking about when it comes to economic impact. That said, when you get a clown in who understands nothing about business, value creation, and employment, you often get some really economically stifling decisions, as we have with eight years of this last fo…

If you think the function of the president is to "create jobs" then you seriously need to take a civics course. Primary function of the POTUS? Foreign relations and enacting the budget as set by congress. The bonus is that you can veto bills that cross your desk if you don't like them and use the bully pulpit to rile up the citizens on specific issues. There is some crossover experience from the business world (trade, international relations, etc.) but the office of president doesn't create jobs…

Lord forbid an anonymous account on the internet lose credibility. Whatever shall I do? Not you specifically, but you in the collective sense - as in, anyone who thinks the tinfoil hat claims about the Clintons killing anyone remotely in their way are necessary to showcase how terrible they are. Anyone making that argument is immediately going to be seen as a conspiracy nut and it taints anything and everything else they say, even if every other point they make is valid. None of that is necessar…

It wasn't her opposition for Senator, it was her opposition for the Democratic ticket. You're absolutely delusional if you think a piece about JFK Jr. "considering" running for the seat is worth even mentioning. You know that Hilary Clinton was good friends with him, right? That once Clinton showed interest he stepped aside? And you know he died more than a year before the election, yes? This is literally tin foil hat conspiracy theory territory - the timeline doesn't match up, there's no motiva…

Yeah, but she's committed treason. As I have said in other comments in this thread, I agree that her actions should disqualify her from running or at least mean she should lose the race due to them being known. That is a different discussion than whether she has relevant experience. Don't confuse me stating facts with supporting her in any way, because I absolutely don't. Further, the only reason she became a Senator was because her opponent mysteriously died in a plane crash. Bullshit. Rudy Giu…

How the hell is she "qualified". Clinton served as Senator from New York for 8 years and Secretary of State for 4 years. You may disagree with her politics, but on paper she is qualified to run for president based on her previous (and recent) runs in public office. To pretend she's not qualified is to have people shut you out for spewing nonsense. Now, there are other things she's done that I think should disqualify her from running, or at least mean she should lose. That's a separate discussion…

She's committed treason, bro. That's about a unqualified as it gets. Qualified in the sense that she has the job experience as SoS and Senator to at least put on her resume. Trump doesn't have any public office experience. 'Member that time an actor ran for president? Reagan was also Governor of California before he was president.

I would find the entire election cycle hilarious if it weren't so damned sad and destructive. Clinton is absolutely qualified for the position, but has proven herself to be completely untrustworthy with any kind of power. Meanwhile Trump is completely unqualified but is at least talking about issues like corruption that are the root cause of a lot of political problems. I can count on the fingers of one hand (and still have fingers left) the number of times I've seen people use facts and logical…

It's even more false than that. The original study is only talking about the % of the population self reporting as virgins increasing, not about amount of sex for the population overall. Millennials are not having less sex, there's just more virgins (neckbeards and whales) within the Millennial age range than were seen previously. These are also self reporting numbers, so it's difficult to tell if there's an actual increase in virgins or just an increase in the number of people willing to admit …

Trying to claim that there is a misogynistic component to this is complete bullshit. If their figures are to be believed, the percentage of female virgins actually declined. No, the proportion of female virgins to male virgins declined. Not in any way the same thing. There are more virgins of both genders (total % of virgins increased for both males and females) than there were before. All that means is that the increase in raw number of virgins was smaller for females than males, which is exact…

The lie of omission is as old as time and is used on all sides. Ascribing it to progressives alone just shows your ideological biases and contributes nothing. If you've picked an ideological side (conservative vs. liberal, republican vs. democrat, communist vs. capitalist) you've already been taken in by someone who's using you and/or your vote to get what they want. Better to evaluate independently and use what works, rather than get hung up on labels. Don't fool yourself into thinking you're s…

This is an old fraternity trick, where you're supposed to be tossed constantly into new places meeting interesting people. A fraternity I got to be very friendly with had a rule - if ever your drink was in the right hand anyone could call you out on it by yelling "BULL MOOSE", and you would then be obligated to down whatever was left in the cup regardless of what it was. Sometimes it was water, sometimes it was soda, sometimes it was straight vodka. Didn't matter. At this point keeping my drink …

Also depends on height. Taller dudes have to work a bit harder to be able to manage the pullups because of differences in skeleton and organ weight going up faster (square:cube ratio). But for strength you should absolutely be setting a goal of doing pullups and eventually one armed pullups.

A couple things to remember. First, most people are going not going to be able to become masters of any craft. You want into that top 5% you are going to need to earn it, and most people don't have the drive/intelligence/luck to get there. Look up your income and find out what % you are for some demographic context. If you play around with it you'll see that you need to make about $120k/year to be in the top 5% - that means there's a whole lot of poor motherfuckers out there, and you're more lik…

A necessary economic drain - the economy doesn't run without more consumers being born. The net effect of the economic drain of women is by far offset by their birthing of young males, ready to be worked to death for a bit more money that they can spend on their retail pleasures of the moment.

I suggest you go look at the r/Science subreddit post for this article (can't link directly because of brigading rules I suppose) - mods are on top of their shit and not letting trolls (from either side) get into the conversation. I can (rather, I have) taken a 50 person R&D organization filled with top tier people and I will run circles around a 500 person R&D org in the likes of HP or Oracle. Almost none of them have your interests in mind. This is something I've had to rapidly learn as whomever firm realizes I'm carrying this sort of cash around. I grew up in a very well to do area, it's true they're all like this. You might look into splitting up your investments across multiple firms, such that none of them individually have control of enough to create real problems for you. Salesforce and Workday are great examples and terrible examples at the same time. They're great examples because they set the new standard for how to manage metrics and large scale data. They had some genuine new value to add to the whole process. They're bad examples because they found an honest to god technology gap in the way business was being run vs. how it could be run and were able to exploit it. Those are not common, usually when a smaller company supplants a larger one it's because they…

I'm not so sure - if self driving cars resolve some of the weather issues they currently have it may be that ride sharing become unnecessary when everyone has their own taxi on call. If Uber survives a change like that it will be because they recognized the problem and changed their service to provide something additional.

And even if you don’t have any other options with any other women, it is much better to have no women at all than a woman who consumes more value from your life than she adds. This is a very hard part of the lesson to learn, but it worked for /u/OmLaLa because it wasn't a bluff and he made it clear. No lies, no manipulation, no bullshit, just the straight up truth to her face. The fact that he had a better offer was icing on the cake.

I'm not arguing against any of those points - but they aren't what was said and what I disagreed with. Specifically, I'm standing by my original point that the general statement of men being better than women is incorrect. Physically, sexually and mentally, we are superior to women. No, we're not - not inherently at least. If men were inherently superior how would females ever get to the point they are now where they've gained ground in actively suppressing the male population? Men make themselves better, and not all of them do it. Think about your local drunk guy at the bar and compare him to a female olympic athlete. The difference is work, drive, and discipline. Men and women are different, and those difference…

Absolutely this. There's definitely value in knowing the truth to mitigate medical risk. But be prepared that he might actually be your father. From your description it seems like you hold some contempt for him and on some level hope he isn't really your father. More than that, do not use him (or your real father for that matter) as an excuse for behavior. Your biology might make you have tendencies or preferences, but it does not dictate your behavior and life unless you let it.

"What is normal?" is a useless question. Instead we should be asking "what is useful for society to denote as normal, and how far from that definition do we, as a society, tolerate deviation?" The answer to this question can (and should) change over time. Regardless of your definition of normal, the amount of deviation from the norm that is tolerated should be less than what might cause functional problems within that society. Interestingly enough this is something that the Muslim world handles …

In a lot of places economics falls under liberal arts as well, even though it's actually useful as opposed to most other social sciences. Part of the problem is that we don't train kids as they grow up to make good decisions, instead we reinforce decision-making skills that focus on how people feel and what they want to do. So people get caught up in the idea of doing something they want to do when what they want is to be lazy fucks and mess around socially rather than work towards building themselves up. Hence they go for "easy" degrees that confer no actual value.

Bitcoin is what's called a cryptocurrency, which has more to do with how it's printed/developed over time (e.g. from hash calculations rather than a printing press). As of 2014 Bitcoin is not a currency, though - it has no legal standing in most countries and is treated somewhat differently everywhere you go. In the US it's recently been ruled as being a property asset, not money while in Germany it's been defined as "private money" (basically meaning they want to tax it). So he's actually right…

Growing up in an environment intentionally devoid of masculinity is not good for boys. In the same vein it isn't good for women to grow up in such situations either. You may be the special snowflake you claim to be, but it doesn't make a difference to my point which is that both men and women get stuck in this loop of drama and resolution and think it's somehow healthy. There are differences between men and women, but this isn't one of them. And stop trying to convince me you're somehow different. Not really - men and women both feed these drama cycles internally. Think about the way our brains and psyche are now wired watching all those 30 minute and 1 hour sitcoms, which feed the whole idea of drama -> resolution -> drama -> resolution cycles. So when a woman (or a man) doesn't have anything exciting happening they try and recreate the sitcom solution by causing drama, in the hopes that the resolution of that drama will bring them their little happy ending.

He's a lawyer (not a trial lawyer, contracts and securities) who married a girl 1 year younger than him, had a couple kids, then married a woman 10 years younger than him and had a couple of kids, then married a woman 23 years younger than him and had 3 more kids. I'm pretty sure he's gotten a fair amount of side-action over the years. When he was much younger he would travel to Asia and E…

It's very true, however I think this misses the point. Equal opportunity just means that any service or good that is available to me is available to others equally (for the same price). This does not guarantee equal results from taking advantage of the same opportunity. Likewise all people are created equally - we all have the same rights and protections under law that others have regardless. That doesn't mean that there are no advantages to be had above and beyond those rights and protections. …

The official IQ test that gives you an IQ score has to be administered by a psychiatrist. Most people don't ever even take it.

This is the point at which I went, "ok, she's in the wrong here, as are those guys." Normally people's pasts are their own, I'm not going to pry unless there a reason for me to (based on her behavior). The expectation is that if there was something relevant for me to know (medical issues, STDs, fucked my best friend last week before we started hitting it off) that someone would tell me. I'd want to know ahead of jumping into anything long term with that woman. This isn't just about picking up on…

All, or almost all, women are hypergamous. But they are so to varying degrees. Some are so hypergamous that you cannot tame them... they will fuck whoever appears dominant at the moment if you so much as leave the room. Others are less so. I'd say another important thing to point out is that the degree to which women are hypergamous is independent of their sex drive. You can rev the engine by being straight alpha, but that's not necessarily going to get her between your sheets. Everyone, both me…

Intelligence as a objective term is different than intelligence as a subjective evaluation. Objectively someone could tell you their IQ score, provide records of good grades, have a diploma or a Ph.D. - these are all metrics that are evaluated based on individual performance and achievement. A subjective evaluation of intelligence is a comparison between one individual an another (or group of others). John is smarter than Sally, Sally is smarter than Tom, Tom is smarter than Sam, etc. This is al…

This is basically what I was going to point out. Even with generalizations that hold true in a large percentage of the population you will always have outliers, but bringing up that idea in discussion every single time detracts from the overarching philosophy of the ideas themselves. It's an unneeded distraction. So while accuracy is important, it's not so important that there's a need to be accurate at the expense of effective communication of the overall idea.

LTRs are a bit more tricky than plates: RP will work on girls, but as you get and keep an LTR she matters almost as much as RP theory… you have to tune your alpha/beta mix to a level she’s happy with This is a point that I feel gets very little attention on TRP, but is more important than "game" in terms of relationships and maintaining frame. If all you want to do is 52 weeks of poon, go for it, but that's not going to result in anything long term. I'm sure we all have our own opinions on the v…

The problem with being relatively intelligent is that you won't know who's smarter than you, who's better at the game than you, until the moment that they utterly defeat you.

brilliantly juxtaposes her against her twin who's real struggles have given him actual character. Yeah, Jaime really grows as a character. I find it amusing that many people see him as a feminist character because they think his growth began with his journey with Brienne, not even realizing that he killed the Mad King and then walked out to kill the alchemists about to destroy King's Landing without even trying to explain himself. He was always a results oriented person, and it's him being put i…

If you're not her or her child then you'll never mean shit to the woman in the long run, so the less you can invest in her the better. That's some Game of Thrones advice right there. Having read a few of the books you watch Circe (the queen) protect herself and her children over everyone else, and she mourns the death of her Father (Tywin, a strong RP character) almost as much as the death of her child. And no, I give zero fucks regarding spoilers.

There's a kernel of truth in there though, when the chick says, If you're only "nice" until you find out I don't want to fuck you, then I'm suddenly a bitch, you're not really nice. If you only do "nice" things so you can guilt a girl later when you ask her out, you aren't really nice. These guys don't even realize that they're just as inconsistent and weak-willed as the women they're after. I think there's actually an argument there that being the "nice guy" just to get in a girl's pants is a f…

If you haven't read/seen Cyrano de Bergerac it's full of RP/BP themes. The movie Roxanne with Steve Martin was supposed to be an "updated" version of the story. Basically Cyrano is a Red Pill boss most of the time, except that he has a severe case of one-itis for his (distant) cousin, Roxane.

He's right too - I'd rather be a viking than a roman right about now. His other main point has a lot of merit too - it's all about in-group and out-group definitions and roles. You prioritize your in-group and have one set of rules for how you treat them, and shun the out-group. Often these groups are religious based. There's a compelling argument about how the 10 commandments are about how to treat other Jews, and that several other portions of the Torah point to people having to prove a blood …

University must be a real bitch. I am kind of glad I didn't go because people I know come back very different, mostly shadows of their former selves. However, if you stick to your guns, it should be a very positive thing. The other benefits of University generally outweigh the social issues one runs into there. Besides, it's a great social playground that will teach you a lot and gives you the chance to make mistakes without too much of a consequence (even if it seems like it's important at the …

I recall talking to several friends from Japan (international students) who were getting degrees in anthropology and sociology - according them it's specifically the "dating culture" over there that is at fault for this trend. In general they move much more slowly, and there are expectations for every step of a relationship. From a TRP view I see it as a much more repressive and comprehensive set of beta provider rules, and that the penalties for women being "caught" by society breaking those ru…

The scientific community has been wrong about things before Yes, they have, that's not under discussion. If the scientific community is wrong, though, they require evidence that directly contradicts the current theory, or at least the supports a better hypothesis. Ideology may enter into holding onto some beliefs over others until the evidence is overwhelming (more often on the religious side of the argument, which is also traditionally a conservative viewpoint), but it does eventually change. W…

Just endlessly saying you don't accept it won't change a damned thing. In order to change the perception of anyone in the scientific community (the peer-reviewed one, not the ideological one) you're going to have to present evidence that demonstrates either that the existing definition is incorrect in some way, or that the evidence supports an alternative definition better than it does the existing one. The hermaphrodite example is a poor one - there are recorded cases in both directions where t…

there would have been a 120% chance that I would end up as a real Beta Provider while my "wife* goes out and cheats on me like most women do in "marriages" anyways... I don't think most women cheat in marriages, but I don't think they're happy with their beta provider either. Don't get me wrong, it certainly does happen, but in terms of statistics men are still more likely to cheat. Here's the thing - I'm ok with being told to "Man Up" in the context of a social bargain with women where they "Woman Up" to their responsibilities. It's division of labor, synergistic problem solving, and it worked for thousands of years. What I'm not ok with is being told to "Man Up" when the other side refuses to hold up their side of that implied agreement.

Yeah, this was my thought as well. Public universities tend to be much harsher on teachers that get "out of line" (by the university's standards at least) than in many other contexts.

"Get rich quick" usually involves a high amount of risk by definition, and very quickly becomes a "get poor quick following getting rich quick" situation. You're better off building your wealth slowly (real estate is a good one for this) and learning to manage money at the same time.

Though point #5 Women are left with a pool of jacked-up, perfectly-dressed, shaved-chested pussies from which to choose a husband, rather than confident and intelligent men of character who are a little rough around the edges. I sense a bit of butthurt there. I think there's an argument to be made that too much in either direction is bad. TRP focuses a lot on "improvement" but the physical side of that is focused on primarily. We're all visual creatures, men are just moreso. Also worth noting is…

I was raised in a really conservative Indian family, so there's a bit of alpha there but also a lot of beta (if any of you are Indian, you'll know what I mean). Women are supposed to run the household and have final say over the children, men are supposed to make a lot of money and fork over all their money to their wives, it's shameful to have sex with many women, etc. This is the case is many places, but not here. An important point to get through your head is that while women in the US expect…

A lot of asian girls LOVE their DRAMA shows, they crave it. These are Asian versions of disney mashed with twilight. (unrealistic views of love and you can't tell who the lady is) This isn't just an issue with Asian women (I would say Koreans and their K-Dramas are the worst), it's a problem with Millenials. They watch all these drama tv shows, Disney movies, RomComs with happy endings, etc. - then they expect their life to go through the same kind of cycle. Drama -> Resolution -> More Drama -> …

Well, they try. Someone with a racial preference outside his own race isn't necessarily beta though. 5: Learn to be indisposable. The only sane way to work for a large company is to be in a position where you can say, "give me this entirely reasonable demand or I walk." The flipside of this has to be the willingness to actually follow through and leave if you don't get what you want. If your employer knows you have no other options (or thinks it unlikely) they have more leverage than you do. So be careful what you ask for, and make sure to target your immediate supervisor first since it's likel…

Almost the opposite for me. I'm a white guy but growing up my area was predominantly asian (80% plus in my middle and high school, and also in my undergrad college). My standards of beauty are based on growing up around asian girls who all took great care of their appearance. For a long time I got marked as someone with yellow fever, though it's not strictly true; I find asian girls to be easy targets because I know what buttons to push, but I don't have a "thing" for them specifically. I'm going to go a step further down the rabbit hole if you don't mind. First, what is your morality in general? Are you a Hedonist, weighing the good and evil each potential action might have and maximizing good while minimizing evil (pain)? An Altruist, that says that the person performing the action should maximize good for others, even at the expense of self? Maybe a Utilitarian, maximizing good while minimizing evil for the most people at a time as possible with each action? Before you can s…

The person you are now and the attitudes you have about your relationship with your husband (which, for the record I find impressive and healthy, not to mention enviable) are based off of years of interactions and shared experiences with him. But it's harder to find someone with whom you're compatible with than it is to find someone who makes good money. Compatibility is very much a nebulous concept that shifts from person to person, whereas income is a hard number that provides a solid metric for comparison between individuals. In addition very few people show their true self to others they've only just met, meaning that finding out if you're actually compatible with an individual requires a certain amount of time and emotional inve…
