I just disagree with it being the norm, having also grown up in a very conservative part of Texas and attending Christian church. I've been to many churches and am a woman, never experienced shame or expectation of obedience like you make it out to be. I've never had a pastor repress me or shame sexuality. It sounds more like you came from a bad place/bad church/and bad family/but that certainly is not the norm. You sound very bitter, and I'm sorry that religion left a bad taste in your mouth.
