I suspect a lot of people use "foodie" as an euphemism for gluttonous, to say the least. Anyone can stuff their face full of lasagna three times a day, that doesn't make you a foodie. On one hand, I wouldn't go as deep as you did regarding the concept - I would call what you described a gourmand, a refined one maybe. It's not that their DNA itself is fat or thin, but there's a predisposition. Your weight gained or lost will always be caloric intake - caloric expense, but metabolism rates aren't universal among all people, nor is the inclination to store fat in less-than-pleasant places. Two people can eat the same things and exercise the same way but have vastly different body shapes and weight. There's a whole field studying this. Look up genetics of obesity, or the FTO gene.
