I get you’re trying to defend Floyd here, and you’re right he didn’t deserve to die. While octo there is trying to gaslight you, the reality is the phrase “going George Floyd” isn’t a dig on Floyd, but a dig on all the criminals who abuse what happened to him to try to get leniency or an opportunity to further resist. Since Floyd, “I can’t breathe” has become one of the most common things to say when an officer goes hands on. By saying you can’t breathe so often, you diminish how important it is…

This is movies and uninformed media talking. Police absolutely understand how to use the tools they’re given, and they’re given pretty extensive training on the tools they have in any urban or suburban environment. Tasers are stopped by thick clothing, and otherwise just don’t work in everyone especially when substances are involved. Hand to hand combat training? Are you joking? A cop in a knife fight is a dead cop. Pulling range and using a weapon is internationally accepted policing strategy.

The issue with American police is they’re trained to follow a military threat assessment doctrine. Someone’s hands are hidden? Threat. Someone is moving suspiciously? Threat. Someone is moving towards you? Threat. When the civilians you protect are identified as possible threats constantly, the civilians become the enemy.
