No, that doesn't make sense. Logically every match has to be completed by 1 of 2 people. So 50% of the time it should be you, and 50% of the time it should be them, all other things being equal. If you're having a hard time seeing why, keep in mind that the more people out there that might see you, the more other people they'll have to look at, probably. i.e. if there's a million people in your area, then if 50% of them are women, 500,000 people might see your pic...but each of them is looking t…

Here's the thing, though - I've gotten people who already liked me, and I completed the match. But I have yet to have any of the people I've liked complete the match. If I'm applying the same standards to everyone, I'd assume that I'd get more matches completed from my side if I was using it infrequently, and more matches completed from their side if I used it frequently. But I'm using it a lot and I'm not getting any completed from their side - and at this point I'm going 100% right just to mak…

Hmm, well as I said I'd love to be proven wrong. Especially since I've been putting myself into a loooot of "death queues" if I am right :P Unfortunately I've been pretty unsuccessful finding any sort of investigation on the internet about how the app works. I might try making some fake profiles (for instance, a "CW-hot" guy to see if he gets faster match responses). Unfortunately there's a lot of potential factors and not very many metrics that can be used, so it's hard to be sure about any dir…

just to be clear: 30% x 30% is 9%, not .9%. But anyway even at 9% I'd expect a huge number of matches considering how many people I've liked. But even taking ego out of the equation - I've gotten matches, but always with people who liked me first. This seems like more than a coincidence. Obviously a good picture and whatnot is crucial, but that's old news. I'm mostly curious how the app works, not how women work. Getting your picture in front of them in the first place is the hardest step, I sus…

Huh, that's way more complicated, but it does explain why the % of attractive people seems much higher than on OKC. Although it seems like he's extrapolating a lot about the activeness and pickyness categories. If anyone's got reasonable evidence about the pickyness thing, though, that would be interesting. Obviously I'd hate to be shooting myself in the foot by liking marginally attractive people. Although on the other hand, I imagine competition is stiff for the extremely attractive.

You mean through Tinder? I'm not really trying to give out advice, per se, I'm just trying to figure out how the thing works, which is pretty independent of actual success. I usually enjoy figuring out how to game the system, or at least understand it, as much as I like actual success. Bit of a personality quirk. But I'd definitely feel like an idiot if I was actually lowering my chances of getting matched by spending time rating people. I have had great success with OKC where I've had a lot mor…
