2	Why does society condition men to be beta males instead of alpha males? Yes, when a male controls a group of females they grow large and aggressive. When mating is done in pairs, the males and females are about the same size and less aggressive. I read that in a study somewhere. Anyway, since marriage became a thing, being a silverback is no longer a highly valued trait, and in society, everyone trying to be a silverback is a negative.
