It think you Confused sexual assaults per year per person with sexual assault per person. Take this example : A place with a constant population of 100,000 women with a lifespan of 80 years are living somewhere. The sexual assault rate is say 1%(1 in 100) of total population get assaulted each year. During their lifetime i.e. 80 years, ideally every 80% of women would have been assaulted once.(80*1/100) I may be wrong somewhere. Please correct if I am.

Yes, I did, but shouldn't the total number of deaths be the deciding factor? A new safety equipment is developed which can be installed in a car, and has a 100% chance of saving lives, in a otherwise fatal crash. So you are saying it is not a big deal if you earn $4000 less per year? Most articles I found with comparing salaries between men and women working the same job at the same position was 1-2% in favor of men. Not saying it is a big deal but just that 5% is bigger than 1-2%.
