She's laying it on thick and heavy saying that Sunny Balwani was abusive and basically controlled her. IMO it's sad if true, but irrelevant. There's plenty of witnesses and evidence to point to the fact that she did plenty of shady shit of her own accord. People need to learn the difference between a reason and an excuse. A reason is a contributing factor but does not make the outcome acceptable; eg. “I was late for the meeting because I stopped for a coffee on the way in.” An excuse is a contributing factor that DOES excuse the outcome, eg. “I was late for the meeting because the train broke down.” Everyone has a responsibility to do what they can to stay healthy and not rely on mental illness as an excuse wherever possible.
