I don't have any tats, but I would assume four flowers trailing up one's arm would take longer than a couple of dudes shooting the shit on the back porch?

No, no they do not. My sophomore year in college, in the embryonic days of the internet, I went into my college library and saw a dude surfing porn and touching his junk. There's also a post on my feed right now of an old man watching porn on public transportation. They have no shame.

Amen. They would feel completely emasculated if a woman opened their door for them, pulled out their chair at the restaurant for them, etc.

What "Don't you know"? If you don't know you did the right thing, then I can't help you. Women have to start standing up for themselves. This is some tough love, but I'm tired of fighting the battles from my fellow sisters. No one is going to respect you if you don't respect yourself. "He beat me, raped my kids, and killed my cat, but I didn't respond to his text for 5 minutes, so I might be a jerk?' No, fuck this guy. Grow your character, sis. Enough of this.

I absolutely love the way she speaks. It's like something from another time. Almost sounded like a past century British grandmother from the countryside or something.

Very insightful. It's like men who constantly go on about gold diggers, but you know they would be the first to leave their faithful long-term wife for a beautiful gold digger the second they become successful. The men who hate FDS hate it because they know they can't get away with bullshit.

That is totally brilliant. I'm going to remember this one. Case in point, my biological father never let my mother forget that my paternal grandmother worked a full-time job, raised three children, kept the house immaculate, was the best cook in the world, and never raised her voice while my grandfather went to the bar every night. He made my sweet mother's life a living hell for not living up to that expectation. I am so grateful for my adopted father who now shows her what a true man is.

My mother AND my father love it! So do my two aunts. I preached the wisdom to my girlfriends, and they have learned so much. The only one who hates it is my gay brother, but he would also be the first one to kick a guy's ass who disrespected me. I would have assumed he would be the one who supported it the most because he supports me standing up from myself and staying away from the dogs, but he is the only one who groans at our philosophy. He knows more than anyone else what dirty horn dogs men…

Another one of my ex-husband stories. Similar to our "if they wanted to, they would" mantra, I learned that they will begin to care once it becomes an inconvenience for them. We did a full remodeling job on our home, but he constantly put off setting up the closet racks in his closet for about 6 months. That led to me constantly having to fold, refold, and organize his clothes in various areas since there was no where to hang them for months. It was excuse after excuse, and procrastination after…

Adult tonsillectomies are far more dramatic and painful than tonsillectomies of children. I had mine in my late 30s, while my ex-husband had his as a child. The doctor warned us it would be brutal and that adults take tonsillectomies much, much harder and that it can even be deadly (what?!). That shocked me to hear back then because it seemed like such an innocent procedure. It completely knocked me on my ass. Honestly it was worse than childbirth or my mastectomy. What did my precious, dear ex-…

This needs to be repeated. Never, ever be flattered if someone from the past spontaneously reaches out. No, they haven't been secretly pining over you for the last year. No, you're not the one that got away. No, they didn't suddenly have an epiphany that the two of you were meant to be. They are going down their phone contacts or social media friends lists to see who to hit up because they are lonely and bored at that moment. And horny. Don't let yourself be the easy lay they can randomly hit up…

That stood out to me, too. Being a mother of a newborn, is one of the most vulnerable and exhausting times of a woman's life. You feel very insecure, and desperately need somebody there for support. Your body is still healing, and you're trying to adjust to a major lifestyle change. If a woman kicks a man out during one of her weakest moments, you know he did something ugly.

What is exhausting is getting pushed around by an abusive, low value, disrespectful, worthless man. Vetting helps us kick them to the curb at the first warning sign. It's a brisk walk compared to the exhausting marathon of dealing with a deadbeat.

I could not believe how completely hideous and repulsive he was, and how dropped dead gorgeous she was. This is pure pick-me hell. Yes, you must be passionate with a hobby that does not interfere with theirs. You must have your own money, but you can't make more than them. You must be hot, but not so hot that it makes other men desire you, making them jealous and inecure. You must be smart, but not so smart that they feel less smart. You must be educated, but you should only have a bachelor's if they have a master's or PhD. You should own your own home, but not as nice as a home as theirs. This is my current predicament. Th…

I had a former co-worker who absolutely drove me crazy. He was completely useless in all areas, but I absolutely adored how much he loved his wife. I would hear him at his desk constantly making reservations, ordering flower deliveries, and booking little romantic getaways for just the two of them. I would overhear his conversations with other people about how he just can't wait to get home at the end of the day and spend time with her. That was probably his one and only saving grace that preven…

This is so very true and within the last year I got a man to admit he thinks that hitting women is completely normal. Even more so than adultery, physical abuse is absolutely my biggest sensitive area. Obviously nobody likes it, but there is something deep within my psyche that is completely terrified of male violence from a partner. We were out at a bar one night and somehow the topic came up. The idea to test him popped in my head, and I just couldn't resist. I was 100% on his side like you we…

Anger is simply our subconscious inner self acknowledging that something is wrong. Anger surfaces when we realize we are being mistreated or disrespected. It's how we feel when we feel wronged or that something was unjust. It is an incredible, self-protective emotion when it is not paired with violence. It is the reaction of our true self when faced with injustice and mistreatment.

I need to get an Apple phone. On Android, even if you block them, you can still see their messages and straight-to-voicemail calls on a blocked list. I hear that with Apple, you block somebody and they're a ghost... unless they leave a voicemail maybe? Admittedly, I get a deranged sense of satisfaction seeing all the blocked messages and calls, but I would really prefer to forget they existed. Why do you feel drained? To me, it's such a thrill to cut someone off like that. Is there a specific th…

Kayaking! It is amazingly fun and invigorating. It's also extremely calming. I got my first kayak for my birthday a couple of years ago, and the rest was history. Sometimes I go in groups, sometimes I just like the solitude on a solo ride. I was always worried to try it, thinking it required a ton of upper body strength, but it is actually ridiculously easy and relaxing. I also love to hike and be alone with my thoughts. Emphasis on alone, gentlemen lutkers. No walk dates for me. 😂

Very true. A poor conversationist is a red flag for many reasons. They're legitimately too stupid and dull to discuss anything interesting. They have no actual interest in anything about your life or what you're up to. They are setting the precedent where the emotional labor of the relationship is your responsibility. You are one of many people they are juggling and they are unwilling to invest the effort for good conversation into one person. If it's one or all of the above, I'm simply not inte…

Be a BITCH. You don't owe being nice to anyone. Adam Walsh's father, the little boy who went missing in the '80s who started off the whole stranger danger scare, said he regretted raising his son to be too nice. Go crazy. Don't look vulnerable. Be aware of your surroundings. Make eye contact. Let other people know you're not the one they want to fuck with. When I was younger, everyone told me I reminded them of a deer in the headlights. Ted Bundy did this EXACT thing to his first girlfriend (the one whose physical features he sought out in his murder victims). When they dated the first time, she ended things after he was an unmotivated bum. He went to law school, started wearing suits, got a job I think in politics, and won her back. He ghosted her one day out of the blue, and later admitted he went to all that effort just to prove to himself he could get her and ruin her. Depraved.

For decades I have heard from men that the most disturbing move in their opinion is Deliverance. I finally watched it a few years ago and couldn't figure out the big deal... until it came to a scene where a man was raped by another man. Married for 28 years, two children together, and she was taking care of him during his illness. Well, buddy, joke's on you... An active spouse is still entitled to the estate. I can't even imagine the hurt and betrayal she must be feeling, but at least the law is on her side. You can't just be written out of a will when they're your assets and estate as well. Especially after a 3 decade marriage. She's going to win in the end. 🙌

The Break Up with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. Ugh. Also, Knocked Up. What was more infuriating is that the lead actress, Katherine Heigl, who I'm not even that big of a fan of, was lambasted and had her career diminished when she called out the movie as sexist. The scene in American Pie where the exchange student is filmed without her knowledge or consent while masturbating, the footage gets released to the entire school, and she gets her student sponsorship revoked and sent back home. Absolutely YES! As a type A personality who is used to going after what I want, not making the first move was probably the main FDS rule I wasn't too fond of. It was hard to abide. You laid the points out very well. There are subtle signals we can emit to let a man know we are interested, but he needs to do the work. Don't make it easy! LVM thrive on easy targets. Don't be one. ❤️ I'll never, ever make the first move again (haven't in a year), not even on OLD.

Let's discuss some of the signs for newbie lurkers. These are some of my personal red flags that I've encountered a porn sick man: If they start up with asking about choking or anal. Especially almost immediately upon meeting. If we're having sex and they go into rough jack-hammering pumping. They've been conditioned by porn to think that's normal. If they inappropriately emphasize their dislike of "vanilla sex". Wanting firmly defined "sub/dom" roles in the relationship. If they think any of yo…

This. ☝️ While I usually support ghosting and blocking, after being involved for 6 months, this might create too much of a frantic reaction from him if you suddenly drop off the face of the Earth. A quick text like the above is perfect. I've had two horrible experiences when they call my mom, show up at my work, try to friend my friends on Facebook, etc. because they were worried something had happened to me. A quick "thanks but no thanks" before blocking helps alleviate that.

Yeah, but why do only the women get accused of "just wanting attention"? So many men post photos of themselves in art, pics, gaming, roastme, etc., And it's never "OMG HE JUST WANTS ATTENTION." An attractive female artist can't pose with her own work to verify herself as the artist without hearing this kind of stuff. It's like the joker meme. A man posts something and nobody bats an eye, but a woman posts something, and everyone loses their mind. Lol I love how she's trolling the incels tho! 😂

Look up "porn sickness" and "effects of porn addiction". It's a huge topic that is far too broad for a Reddit post. And it's my bedtime. 😴 A lot of women with high standards won't tolerate a man with strong ties to porn. And it's not just hard on the women. In fact, I'd say the effects are far worse on the men including erectile dysfunction, diminished hormone levels, and an inability to create healthy romantic connections with a partner.

Different strokes. If someone is into all that, then more power to them and to finding a partner that matches those kinks. But, most people are not organically into that. That's why they're considered kinks. Porn can inspire a lot of harmful behavior in the bedroom and a lot of FDS posters are very protective of their boundaries. Just my take on it. 🌞

Fair question. It can lead to severe expectations that aren't realistic and can often be violent, abusive, demeaning, and painful. Choking, slapping, spitting, etc. Men who become completely addicted to porn often lose the distinction between fantasy and reality with a partner. They can even reach the point where they cannot get aroused without some pretty hardcore stuff. They think deep throating can be done without gagging. That rough anal is pleasurable for the woman. That inflicting pain or …

This will be the best answer in this thread. It's a no win. My addition will be that acting as a domestic goddess will be the surefire way to a man's heart and for him to see you as wife material. No, he'll just happily turn you into a bang maid, a cook, and never be grateful for any of it. He'll only see it as you doing what's expected of a woman and may even brag to his friends about how good he has it and what a servant you are to him.

Whenever someone tells me I'm too picky, I just reply, "I don't require anything from others I am not willing to offer/be/do myself". Usually the criticism comes from people who don't qualify. Oh, this is maddening! I'm an educated professional with over 20 years of experience in my field (finance). I have a pretty prestigious position at my company. My boss has referred to me as "young lady" on a few occasions in the last month. On the third occasion, I reminded him I am 40 years old and really don't appreciate being treated like his daughter. This is infuriatingly common. I have a rule that I no longer will be the one who travels the distance for the date. It's another example of a man thinking he can use OLD as a delivery service to order a woman. We're not pizzas. I would tell him that you don't leave your area for first dates. See how he handles it. Such a weird thread! A TRUE dead bedroom would be for her to still ignore him even after his efforts at self improvement. The fact she... wait for it... became more attracted to him after he became more attractive shows that the lack of initiative rested with him the whole time. This is some hard truth, but years ago I was listening to talk radio. A woman called in to get advice on a husband who no longer considered her attractive. The DJ/Host asked the caller what she was doing to make herself …

Yes!!!! I swear FDS has a ripple effect in other areas of our lives. I was also handed a project yesterday, and without even looking up from my work, I told my boss, "That needs to go to HR, not Finance." We're in our year-end financial closing procedures and I don't have time to pick up the reconciliations from another department. It just startled me because I'm usually not that bold. 😂

Honestly, I'd be repulsed by these texts coming from one of Us. His attitude and game play was that cringey! 😂 No man who acts like this will ever be considered HV. He's like a failed gigolo.

This guy is a loser and an idiot. Show of hands... Who amongst us has trawled around on TRP/MGTOW/The_Wall, etc., just to DM some stranger and tell them how good FDS is and how unnecessary they are? Nobody. That's who.

I'm a type A personality who is used to being in charge and taking control of all situations. My "I don't need no man!" mentality can be quite strong. I have to force myself to sit back, let him pay, let him pursue me, let him ask me out and plan the dates, etc. I have a powerful personality so it's hard for me to let others be the action guy. I'm also very maternal to all people. I am a natural nurturer who dotes on people of all ages, genders, etc. The proverbial do-gooder and "universal mom."…

If we had been dating three or more months, were sexually intimate, or exclusive, then I absolutely explain it to them. I don't believe in ghosting on those relationships. If they did something awful, then I want them to know I'm done and they are not to contact me. If I just wasn't feeling it anymore, then I'd want them to know so they wouldn't pursue me if they think something bad happened to me to make me fall off the face of the earth. Lol If it was a casual one-or-two dates, no chemistry/in…

Honest to goodness I have no attraction to my friend whatsoever. He is like a kid brother to me. I'm in my 40s, hes in his 30s, and I have no interest in younger men. He's shorter than me, and very skinny and awkward. Not my type at all. lol I love him to pieces, but not in that way.

You gals made some great comments, so I'll just add this one: "I just got out of a relationship" = I have baggage so I'll use my last screw up as a justification for my emotional unavailability and reluctance to commit to you. "I'm super busy with work/I have a lot going on right now" = I don't find you worth the time to make the effort for you. It's hard, but it's the truth. When a man wants a woman, hell make it happen. Great point. Yes, I'm kicking myself for not exploring all alternatives. He could have just laid low at my home. I trust him completely. He's a very honorable gentleman and family friend. My friend is a fantastic human being, like a brother to me. He's been there for me, and everyone else he knows. Like I mentioned in another post, he'll do anything to help someone, even darting out in his pajamas in the middle of the night to pick up a friend who has been drinking or whose car broke down. Solid class act. If he was someone who just needed a mother figure, or some sort of creep who always hit on me, he wouldn't even be in my life. He is a true friend, like a little brother to me.…

Thank you so much. Great response. He's a great person. Certainly didn't "punish" me for breaking our plans, but I know I really let him down. My heart was in the right place, but so much was happening at once. He has been understanding, and has been far more forgiving than I would have been, but he's hurt. Thank you for the advice, and I'll be following it. It's not very often that we discuss how we've messed up, and I appreciate the support from my gals.

My date was understanding, all things considered. He certainly didn't flip out, end things, block me, or anything of that nature. He was just very hurt, frustrated, and disappointed. I'd be the same if the situation were reversed, especially if he had cancelled in me to help a female friend out. Honestly, I would have ended it immediately and blocked him. He was a lot nicer than I would have been, to be honest. That's why I want to make things right. I feel like crap all the way around and I fee…

I really like the job interview analogy. It fits well I think. Even with a very valid reason, it just looks bad and I wouldn't blame the interviewer for rescinding the job offer. For context, I've known my date since last year and we've been seeing each other for a few months, so it's not like we just met. He also knows my friend. He's just really hurt and ended up spending NYE alone and having to cancel the reservation. I truly feel awful. Worse, I feel like a trash person for silently resentin…

Yes, I suggested Saturday. He is OK with it, but still felt like it lacks the magic of the special NYE he planned. I just feel awful all the way around! For my friend who is in a rotten situation, for my date who felt discarded, and for my family I didn't get to visit.

It's something I should have handled far better, I'll be honest. The context: Old friend for years, know each other's families, like a little brother to me, etc. He lost his job right after Christmas, traveled home from another state, his father who is out of town accidentally locked all the deadbolts to his home and exited the garage. They couldn't get in, all hotels in our small town were booked due to the holidays. Needed a place to stay, was also very low after being laid off and just reachi…

I think the title touched on that? It sounded to me like having a hard working man who still makes time for you is a sign they're really into you. And I agree. I shy away from workaholics after being formerly married to one (who made no time for me/us), but I have to respect a man with a good work ethic who strives to include me on an abundant level into his schedule. Don't ever let your drink out of your sight. Watch the bartender make it and never take your eyes off it. If someone buys you a drink, make sure it never touches their hands before you see it. LDRs are my favorite as a WGMOW; however, I'm into relationships that are a couple hours away. That always gave me the ability to focus on my own life while being able to set aside private, dedicated time for each other away from the daily grind of life. BUT... I'd be cautious when it comes to extremely long distance relationships like you're referencing. I've noticed those men seem to use women as emotional crutches and therapists. By admitting you're a human who is still learning. By acknowledging the fault rests with him alone. By having faith in yourself that you'll use this as a learning experience to never tolerate mistreatment again. My first love was a monster, and while it took me two years to forgive myself for not having more respect to eject him from my life, those lessons helped me become who I am today. Excellent post and intelligently written. The two questions I ask myself about each relationship are: What value does this person bring into my life? Joy, companionship, collaboration, emotional support? Are they a drain on my well-being? Too demanding of time and energy, too dependant on me for their happiness, expecting me to give 100% while they only give 50%? If I feel fulfilled, uplifted, and cherished after an encounter, then they're a positive presence in my life. If I feel exhausted, dra…

My commentary on this screenshot (won't let me add it to my OP lol): This post really stood out to me and hit home. Why on earth are we expected to coddle men's delicate emotions, fragile egos, and be responsible for building their self esteem? Tell him you'd like to build something healthy and sustainable, but you feel like his behavior is making it difficult to set a solid foundation. Men who can't live up to a woman's standards are pissed she has them. Example: Men who are 6'4" love pointing out their height on dating apps. But manitos cry when women aren't into their 5'4" statures. Men with good incomes don't mind a woman who expect them to pay on dates. Men who live paycheck to paycheck accuse women of being gold diggers. They are bitter because they know they will never be what a quality woman wants.

Along with all the great responses to this thread, I'd also like to add it's their way of saying they don't want a commitment or emotional attachment. They want drama free (read commitment and emotion free) sex and interaction. Any woman bringing emotion into the mix, even positive emotional depth, is just drama in their eyes. It's never a good sign so I always immediately swipe left.

It's a common tactic narcissists employ. They not only use other women (known as the "harem" or "flying monkeys") against you to compete with you, they use even your closest friends to turn them against you so you'll be isolated. It's very insidious, and your situation sounds like that.

I don't really mind being asked this because I ask it all the time for various reasons, too. It sounds like you're falling into a trap that's known as the sunken cost fallacy. You don't want to lose the year you invested in him, so you're willing to double down and open the door for even more damage. It's better to go ahead and forfeit the past year, begin healing, and meet a new and better man who doesn't do this kind of thing. If not, you could be wasting years or decades compared to the 10 months you've spent on this guy.

I'm always suspicious of the "less than a mile away" screenshots. I always suspect it was created by the OP. This also reads like a script. Severely obese woman woman (those are not the legs of a 21 year old), FIVE kids/pregnant by the age of 21. Wants a 6'+ fit man, a strong woman tired of dogs, etc. I know there are choosing beggars out there, but, again, the less than a mile away location makes me suspect this is a tailor made Tinder profile to farm karma.
