I'm a female divorce lawyer and always wonder what the big rush is. Geeezzzz....

Woman here. She’s manipulating you because she can. She doesn’t respect you. Mutual respect first (not love) is the foundation of any successful relationship. And she isn’t going to respect you. once a woman doesn’t respect you it’s over. RUN to the closest exit you can find. You’re shaving years of your life dealing with the stress of this narcissistic woman who doesn’t care enough to raise a solid family of 8. Please stay in the house when you’re home but start planning the divorce.

I happen to be a family lawyer who generally takes an interest in the men I represent in these invariably soul sucking, mentally draining, complex cases were no one is ever happy. Your generalization about lawyers is disappointing. Most of my colleagues are not in this solely for the money. They want to help people and we get shit it on every time. Your comment is the exact reason why I am counting the days until I stop helping people through divorce. Because there are grateful people who don’t …

Mike drop. This is gold. I was just recently speaking with someone on the same issue of perspective and mindset. You brilliantly amplified what I can teach. This subject is near and dear to my heart. I am a woman and former divorce attorney raised by a single dad who represented men almost exclusively for over 20 years. I appreciate all that you’ve said along with everyone else’s valuable comments.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. You will get through this. I know it’s hard. You are right there is no support. I’m aiming to change that for dads.

Thank you for your insight. I’m beyond sorry that you are going through this. You will be able to be a part of your kids lives. It just seems like you won’t now. Btw your lawyer is incorrect. A court always considers evidence no matter the situation. The critical part is the weight they give to the evidence. You might want to consider consulting with another lawyer about your options.

Don’t ever stay for the kids. This is coming from a divorced female divorce lawyer. Good luck on making the right choice for you and your family.

They’re sending you discovery to make sure you’re disclosing all assets, income and liabilities before negotiating a settlement.

Thank you for sharing with us the lessons you learned and the mistakes that you made. The good news is you overcame those mistakes and are now able to reflect and learn for the future. Divorce coaches help a man think through whether in the short and long term staying in a house was a prudent move among other common mistakes men make as humans. Some steering in the right direction from a non emotional helper with your best interests only at heart would have been a great help to you. Thanks for y…

Ahhh, the dreaded discovery. We don’t enjoy it either. Valuable service it would have been to you, indeed. Thank you for your help!

Get organized & take inventory. Pay close attention to your money. Take stock of all your individual and joint bank, stock, retirement accounts, etc. and open up a separate account where your paycheck can go once you actually physically separate. Generally, you’re entitled to half of your joint property and make inventory of everything bought during your marriage. Also some sample documents - Ex. police reports, receipts, tax returns and W-2’s. Document everything. Keep a written account/diary a…

That’s why there’s a need for a divorce coach, particularly in a system that’s biased against men. You made past mistakes but moving forward you know better. Just be strategic moving forward. When women get comfortable they start slipping. (I’m a woman btw)

Thank you for your input. I never thought about the verbal abuse angle. Have you brought this abuse to the attention of a court?

I used to think the same thing. We are not paid to hear client’s complaints about their feelings towards their ex, or what happened during a drop off of the kids and what was said. We hate hearing that. It’s exhausting and on top of it the client is paying dearly with a billable hour to vent to a lawyer. The coach helps the man organize his thoughts, prevent himself from doing dumb shit, and is a thinking partner so they present their needs for litigation or settlement outcome to their lawyer wh…

Very good one. I can’t believe how many lawyers don’t answer emails or phone calls. When I practiced divorce law I returned emails the same day and if I couldn’t call back I’d send an email response.
