Very biased analysis here. Germany has a focus in school on foreign languages (more hours taught than in France for instance). The sounds of their mother tongue also allow them to easily master other languages such as English. I leave near Germany, am pretty aware of European stuff and know German guys from all around Germany, and the "seek out for English on the internet" is not really a shared thought
