I worked 8 years for a Federal Law Enforcement Agency, it was well established close to 40% of rape allegations were unfounded. The most common reason the "victim" claimed rape was because they were found cheating after a sexual fling. It was only through questioning the alleged victim did the truth come out during the investigation.
