I agree wholeheartedly. I think it should be equal. If someone is willing lie and potentially ruin someone’s life, they deserve the same. They should be put on the sex offenders register, they should serve jail time, they should have to look the accused and their family in there and apologise. I also know how fucking disgustingly my friend was treated when he was arrested. It still churns my stomach. And how well the girl was tended to. As it stands, some rape victims are hesitant to come forward, because they think people won’t believe them. Now let’s pretend we put in place a law where if you lie about being raped, you get equal punishment to what the accused would have. So if you thought before that you didn’t want to come forward because nobody would believe you, now think of it as not wanting to come forward, because not only will they not believe you, but you could also go to jail for coming forward and telling the truth.

I was talking about my friend that’s in the midst of being accused. What’s the law? Making false accusations?

I agree with you that harsher penalties would lead to a reduction in reporting of rape. I also believe that there should definitely be repercussions for people that make false rape allegations. My friend is still in the midst of an allegation by a girl for sex that was very much consensual. She has potentially fucked up the rest of his life. But when the truth comes out (hopefully) should there be no repercussions for her? I’m really torn on the issue, as I can see the validity of both points.

This is a truly amazing sentence. I’ve read it multiple times and it’s more and more entertaining each time.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
