Yes. My wife is breaking up our family and making it so that neither of us ever sees our children every day, ever again, and treating it like it's just one more project to complete.

No, you're not delusional for wanting to enjoy life forever and never get married again. Yes, you should move abroad. If you're going to fall in love (which people tend to do, eventually), fall in love with a woman from a more conservative culture with a less developed economy. First world women, as a crude generalization that is by no means absolute, are entitled and fickle. "For better or worse" is not taken literally by many, many women in say, the United States, Canada, the UK, etc. And it i…

Brother, you deserve better. Your wife is too fickle. Get out. Count your blessings that you don't have kids. Sorry if this is harsh, but I'm getting divorced with 3 small kids (ages 8, 5 and 2) and I ignored the warning signs. I can see clearly now that I was deluding myself because of an idealized fantasy about love, and misplaced trust in someone who took satisfaction in seeing me squirm. You deserve better. Get out. Heal. You're young. Date again when the healing is going well. Bail again at…

Don't give up brother. Don't give up on 50/50, and if you think you have a shot at full custody, go for it. This fork in the road will happen just once. Go on offense. Fuck your soon-to-be-ex, it's her loss. She sounds like a nutbag. Show your daughters what a man is, it's the greatest gift you can give them. Be a dull grey rock, don't let your wife get a rise out of you. For your daughters. For yourself. No offense, I married a nutbag too. Took me years and her getting especially crazy to reali…

She calls you names in front of your kids? She hasn't respected things you've been interested in? She sounds like a bitch. You deserve better! You deserve a partner who is kind and supportive. Get a lawyer, get a strategy, and go on offense. She'll start being more kind when she has to. Your daughters will admire you for it. Sorry if this is harsh man. I was in love with a bitch. It took me years to get it through my thick skull that a relationship should be reciprocal and respectful. There's so…

You respect yourself by telling her to figure it out on her own. Marriage is not forever, but divorce is. Cut the cord and allow the pain to recede. You can't heal if she's picking at the scab.

Good for you! Stay strong and stay the course. It will be better on the other side. You deserve better. She doesn't deserve you. Love yourself.

yeah brother, take her back to court. It'll be worth the money. Make the custody agreement more prescriptive. She's just fucking with you, and it's cruel. She doesn't get to control your time anymore.

Brother - quit taking this shit lying down. You deserve better. Go on offense. Get a lawyer, make a plan and file on her with the best strategy you can. You sacrificed to advance her career. Get her to pay you.

It is a form of monkey branching - and of control. My wife used me as a sperm donor. 3 kids via IVF then whoop! moving on as soon as the youngest is sleeping through the night. But "we'll always be in each others lives".

Brilliant. For better or worse indeed. My wife waited until I'd been laid off from a 14 year job to divorce me.

I agree RoutineBee. It's too easy and too encouraged to give up. My wife wants a divorce and we have 3 kids 8 yr old and younger. She's willing to put them through this process rather than try to salvage the relationship. Of course having 3 small kids and 2 careers is difficult! But wouldn't it be great if we could all do Xmas together? Isn't it worth trying?

ResidentLight has it right, count your blessings that you don't have kids, they put so much extra work on the relationship, you'd have been stuck dealing w/ an emotionally lazy partner for years, divorce or not. Find another woman who's willing to do the work. You deserve it.

My wife wants a divorce after 11 years, and I am devastated. I have not been a perfect husband, but I've acknowledged at least some of my mistakes, attempted to make amends for them, and, critically, not repeated them. My wife has never admitted ANY mistakes. She discontinued the services of two marriage therapists after their first constructive criticism of her behavior. So, I knew she was a narcissist and decided I could deal with that. I was so wrong. She used me as a sperm donor. In explaini…
