Fyi since you asked and I said, I did some dumbell shoulder work on top of my press ups this eve. Also started studying Athol Kay.

I was thinking about this exactly the other day, how I understand what you mean by "divorce her in your head" but I don't like it as it sounds too schizoid...If I'm really divorcing in my head I might as well go ahead and divorce. "The stay plan is the go plan" sounds more reasonable as it's like planning for both eventualities. I'll look up that book. I'd not heard of it, thanks.

Appreciate being called out on it. I'll start Dumbells tomorrow and report back. OYS I prob shouldn't have said, as I don't think I'm ready yet. Dumbells first, and by next weekend I'll have studied and digested Athol Kay MMSLP. I have the pdf.

I've continued with daily press ups and she's noticed and complimented. I will be moving on to dumbells. You may be right I eventually need to get back to the gym to take it further.

A couple of months back, and membership now lapsed. But I started body weight stuff on Friday and did every day since, which might sound lame, but my upper body always responds well to copious press ups. Instant six pack and big pecs. After a few sessions I look how I did in my early 20s martial arts period. But to get bigger looking, and not just sculpted, I'll be adding dumbells soon using Stronglifts dumbell approach, mostly to target shoulders. I have soooo much on at the moment and genuinel…

"Divorce your wife in your head! You are completely in her frame at the moment brother." That's kind of where I'm at after the tongue lashing from some of the others here, LOL. And no, she was quite stylish once.

OK, understood. Cheers. Maybe I just needed to blow off steam a bit. I'll get back to the basics.

I think I get you. I'm still looking at her way too much, up her ass as you say, even when I think I'm not.

Thanks. This I have begun working on and I'm getting bigger. I've also improved wardrobe and grooming some. The problem is my motivation for these is sapped by her constant tone of not caring about that. She tells me she doesn't notice what I look like, and truly she never comments when I make an effort. She also does the "women hate muscles" routine. I have gotten better at ignoring that shit and carrying on, but it's hard.

Ok. What's the basic move or attitude here then? Imagine you're teleported into the described situation. I can't force her to improve her "grooming". Is it a case of stopping giving a fuck about that and just working the sidebar material for my own benefit, and if she improves great, if not, move on? I'm looking for the broad strokes view of this.

How would I make her go? She's super stubborn remember. And never wants to go to hairdressers. That said, being so direct as booking an appointment is something I haven't tried.

What would you do in my situation, such as you've heard it so far?

Good question. I take it you won't accept "because I'm monogamous" as an answer? If you mean why don't I get EOIs from other women, well I have over the years but not many so I take the point. I'm working on that. As said, early days. Do you have more to say?

All I'll say is, from my point of view, you're very lucky to be finding this material at such a young age. I'm 44 and only discovered it relatively recently, after many years of errors. So there's no rush. You're in a good position. Take it a step at a time, and believe in yourself. I'm sure you can go far.

"do what you want". Good advice. It's easy to be influenced to think you gotta do what everyone else is doing...

Cool, so if I may ask is it mostly body weight stuff you do then rather than gym weights?

Interesting. Part of the reason I'm asking is that I did take out a local gym membership, but found other commitments eating away at my attendance rate. Meanwhile, I do have some past martial arts background with bodyweight exercise being a big part of it, and I feel like I'm more likely to stick at body weight than Strong Lifts, even if resistance training can give quicker gains. Martial Arts I'd like to get back to also, but I'm worried I'll not stick at that for same reasons as gym. Whereas I…
