By practice. You'll soon realize that no matter how uncomfortable/embarrassed/discouraged you may feel at a moment, you will soon get over it. Eventually it'll become something you can laugh at, or reveal without much strong emotions.

- Loosing the friendship forever: there's usually nothing left to do afterwards if she says no. I am not the type to persist, and I am usually not motivated to continue with just being friends.

You may be judging yourself too harshly. Anxiety, it turns out, is normal. We are so used to having anxiety associated with negative evaluations that we feel like we have to be the world's biggest idiot to have it. Soothe yourself and let others see you as the human that you are. Start small and gradually reveal yourself to others and soon you'll find you're not strange/unfortunate at all.

Anything can be creepy my friend. It's creepy until you say it and find it isn't creepy at all. There's nothing that hasn't been said or heard by somebody.

What's blind about the comment? The girl is clearly not making any serious commitment towards the guy. Analyzing the situation, it seems she is probably using him only for attention. He should move on, or stand firm for whatever he wanted in the first place.

Most of the time that I have tried that approach (talking things through) it didn't work. The thing is that the people who exhibit the manipulative behavior are usually not very honest people to begin with. They usually have a totally unrelated excuse for why they haven't been communicating (while wondering why you aren't on your knees yet, and hoping that you reach that state soon). I end up leaving the relationships in the dust where they belong.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
