How did you finally decide to pull the trigger?Did your wife plant that request in your daughter’s head? If so, that’s so wrong and should tell you a lot. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/01/24 01:53 AM
A Quick guide to Real RemorseYes, good point… I’ll have to check out that post. I should have noted, as you did, that this should be a bare minimum. In my case, it’s clear cut since none of the boxes are checked, but I get the gray area. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/01/24 02:20 AM
A Quick guide to Real RemorseThat’s the hard part. I need to stay laser focused and not cave to insensibility. I need to make me the priority for once. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/01/24 02:06 AM
The loneliness is the hardest partMy god, a fellow Platoon quoter! She don’t read too good know how. Edit: also agree with your words. (Isn’t that quote at right about the part when they light up?) | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/01/24 06:10 AM
Does wife making more than husband contribute to relationship issues?I could have written this! My SO’s identity, in her words, are job first and mom second. I didn’t even fit into the hierarchy. I’ve been told I couldn’t make it without her (not true) and that she hope’s out child doesn’t go into May profession because she doesn’t want them to be beholden to anyone (again, not true). I’ve been belittled for where I received both my bachelor and master degrees. And on and on… Ripping the bandaid off very soon… peace be with you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 12:45 AM
Sad, just sadSorry to hear that, bro! I feel this… and reckon will continue to feel at moments throughout life. Please continue to talk it out with a friend, if you can. Don’t bottle it up… easier said than done. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/12/23 03:27 PM
Moving forwardI’m feeling Option 2a. I’m in a very similar situation, including the amount for rent. I’m hoping to cut as many ties as possible, so I like the idea of your own place and never looking back. Just be realistic with the additional needed for utilities, etc… brought my monthly budget up by nearly $500. Good luck! | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/12/23 01:06 PM
She just admitted itYou’re right, it does suck. But you will get to the other side, look back on this, then realize you’re in a better place. It’s the journey… going on my second go round and your health takes a hit each time. Weight loss (25 lbs of stress each time), lack of sleep (avg 4-5 hours of sleep on a good night), and then the mental component. This is all normal and I’ve been told it’s physically and mentally more difficult than suffering the death of a loved one… I agree. Continue to stay strong and talk… | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/12/23 03:27 PM
She just admitted itI say this without knowing any of the issues your daughter currently wrestles with. Is this a chance to teach your daughter a lesson about how to be treated in a relationship? Have a very personal conversation with her about marriage, trust, boundaries, and betrayal. Perhaps a lesson you teach coming out of this now will prevent your daughter from being in your shoes 20 years from now. I know this doesn’t solve your immediate issues and there will be a lot to work through. But a therapist is a p… | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/12/23 01:52 PM
Maybe the wrong thing to doHey OP, please check back in with us. We’ve got your back and would like to know you’re okay. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/12/23 10:40 PM
I guess I blew up my lifeWho initiated the separation? | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/12/23 03:27 AM
Whats the first hour after, like?Man, this is so true. The kids are the most difficult piece that you never fully get over. Bittersweet indeed. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/12/23 01:12 PM
Ex Called to Meet UpBingo! Any of those can be handled in a text. Chances are, if you ask her to tell you in a text (which is what I’d be tempted to do) she’ll say “oh, never mind… it’s not important anyway (not like you ever cared).” If #1 or #3, it’s not your business and thanks for the heads up. If #2, you don’t want to be in her presence if she’s looking beautiful and you are tempted. If you decide to meet up, take care of business before going 😀. Not proud of that, just been in your shoes and am male. Definite… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/12/23 11:49 PM
I really don't think I'm going to fight this ... at all.Agreed. Don’t roll over and try to set some kind of boundary now… as futile as it may be. She will exploit you regardless, but perhaps not as badly if you stand firm to a point (kids should be number 1). | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/11/23 10:55 PM
Did I fuck up?Hang in there, bro. I hear you and can feel your pain. Your boys deserve to see the best you. Come at this with your wife when they’re not around and when you can be clear headed… she will likely still not be, but demonstrating a mature approach to a relationship is what your boys deserve to see from you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/09/23 02:22 AM
Holding On Too LongIt sounds like it’s time for the consequence side of things. But before that, consider trying to focus on yourself (and the kids). I don’t know what that looks like for you… perhaps trying to get to a state of mind that shows you your value in life, with or without your wife. If you can build your confidence and self esteem, more people than just your wife and kids will notice. All easier said than done and I can relate to the lack of energy you likely have for your family, let alone yourself. Y… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/09/23 08:48 PM
Holding On Too LongI think the first step I would take is to draw boundaries around the nights out. Based on the way your children are responding, they need these boundaries set even more than you. Thing is with hard boundaries you must be ready to enforce them, or it will backfire. You choose the consequence, she chooses wether to respect you, the kids, and your marriage. Good luck fellow Airman! | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/09/23 03:42 PM
If you were to remarry, who would you look for? Here’s the hard part… guaranteeing that you can maintain the libido match. As most of us know, this tends to change rather quickly into most marriages. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/23 05:33 PM
