8	Both Need To Be Each Other's Allies In the USA, things like pepper spray/mace/gel are super female-coded and guys carrying something non-lethal like that for self defense is usually met with teasing and emasculation. If the woman is complaining, people will always say "leave him you deserve someone who wants to fuck you" or "are you sure he isn't cheating/watching porn? he is neglecting you!!"
