Going to a party doe not by any rational stretch of the imagination equal giving consent to be groped and anyone who thinks so clearly hasn’t been to many.

Lmao I can’t believe someone just tried to convince me that going to a party equates to consent for sexual contact. You haven’t really been to many parties, have you?

Lmao one of the dumbest pieces of writing I’ve ever read. Going to a party does not equate to being groped. You do understand that high schoolers have parties, don’t you? Surely you must have been to at least one? They’re not orgies, they’re PARTIES. Doggg you’re going towards incel territory

If you can’t see the fault in the line of reasoning “she went to a high school party where people hooked up, therefor she deserved to get groped, even by a guy she wasn’t attracted to” then that’s on you, dude.

women want to be groped I’m not going there and neither should you

No. I’m not rejecting the idea that those other women liked him and thought he was a good guy, but it doesn’t change the veracity of the accusers’ statements. And anyone other than Kavanaugh/the accuser claiming with certainty that that rape didn’t happen is just lying, because they couldn’t possibly know for certain.

Anecdotal evidence has no bearing on the fidelity of the accusation. I’m sure you could find a hundred examples of misidentified attackers, but you could find a hundred thousand where the attacker was properly identified. Moreover, given that two other women have now come forward, it’s pretty obvious that he did at least some of what he’s accused.

Thank you for calming down and using your words. If you had been paying attention, I never used the definition of toxic masculinity that you give, and I never called TB sexist, so I don’t know why the fuck you’re so mad.

I literally don’t understand what you’re saying. You have to use your words and explain what the hell youre talking about.

Okay, fine, I’ll do what you’re telling me to: There is a concept of toxic blackness in society. Many people of all races and ethnicities put forward the stereotype that black people are lazy, and that inner city black kids have no future other than drug dealing and crime. I don’t get your position? Are you upset that I brought up the very real, very toxic idea of masculinity that many men and women believe in and push? Or are you mad that other toxic ways of thinking don’t get the same attentio…

I’m sure I would be bitched at for calling it out. That doesn’t make anything I would say false or invalid. I’m not trying to gaslight I’m trying to have a civilized discussion and you seem like you’re looking for someone to be angry with.

Could you please chill the fuck out? Please? Why would I not be okay with talking about it publicly? What the hell are you talking about?

Why are you so angry? There’s a difference in people reinforcing a stereotype and people believing a stereotype. If I (a white person) told a black person that to be black is to be a thug or to be poor and they believed me and acted upon that belief, then I would be reinforcing a version of toxic blackness as a non-black person. Also calm the fuck down

It’s both sides fault. It’s intentional ignorance I f you pretend there aren’t men who call other men pussies for crying or being emotional.

That’s not how trauma works. A traumatic event doesn’t cause you to remember every detail of your life on the day of the trauma. Almost the opposite, actually. It’s very understandable if she remembered the specific trauma of being assaulted, but few ancillary details such as the exact time, date, or location. This is common among people who suffer intense trauma such as rape or assault. Also, “she didn’t remember the date” does not even remotely equate to her lying or misremembering such a crit…

That’s really a stretch. For the accuser, if her story is true, it would’ve been a huge and traumatic night etched into her memory. For her friend, it would’ve been one of dozens of hundreds of parties she attended throughout high school and college. And her friend didn’t say “I have no idea what you’re talking about”, she said “I don’t remember that” Her friend did not deny the occurrence of the party, only negating her memory of it, which makes sense from a legal POV. (And the statement was is…

“Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford." She doesn’t say she wasn’t there. She says she has no recollection of being there. It’s a neutral statement. Also, remembering some sims random party is very different from remembering a traumatic experience such as rape/sexual assault.

I’m not blaming it on anyone, male or female, but it absolutely is a toxic idea of masculinity, in the same way that telling women only their looks matter is a toxic form of femininity. I’m not calling masculinity toxic and I’m not blaming men for spreading it (although many men are responsible, along with many women), but that specific idea of masculinity is absolutely toxic masculinity.

I don’t really see how that’s evidence one way or the other. Her statement just says that she doesn’t remember attending a party with Kavanaugh and the accuser. If she didn’t know Kavanaugh, it’s very plausible that she wouldn’t remember him.

Can you link any articles about the accusers’ stories being contradicted? I’ve seen stories from Kavanaugh’s roommate saying he believes Kavanaugh could’ve done it, but that’s it.

Sad thing is they’re using the cover of appearing to be egalitarian to defend someone who seems pretty clearly to be guilty, further tarnishing the reputation of true egalitarian movements.

To be fair though, there absolutely are forms of toxic masculinity. The belief that men shouldn’t show emotion, can’t be victims of sexism/discrimination, can’t be victims of abuse, and basically can’t live their lives as normal human beings is a form of toxic masculinity. Masculinity itself is not toxic but many men are raised to believe that a certain toxic form of “masculinity” is the only true form of masculinity, and that any man not in line with that form of masculinity is inferior or impr…
